Can someone help me argue this on twitter

In light of the Lewis Hamilton furore I posted a picture of my son in his princess dress with something along the lines of let's stop gendering 'stuff' and let kids be kids.

I've now found myself in a twitter row with someone who says by referring to my child as my son I have 'gendered' him.

Apparently 'boy' is not the same as male and is a gendered term.

Am I losing my mind or does boy simply mean 'a male child'?

I should just step away from the keyboard but it's doing my head in.

He was two when he wore princess dresses. He had no concept of bloody gender, he just liked the nice dress and I was happy for him to wear it. He doesn't wear it now but I'd have no issue if he did, other than worrying he might get bullied but that would be a different issue.

Wouldn't make him a girl though. Or a princess.

I'm just banging my head on my keyboard at the idea 'boy' and 'son' have any other meaning than 'male child'

Conservatives want your personality/gender to match your sex.

Genderists want to change your sex to match your personality'gender.

I think you are advocating for letting kids choose what they like, this would be healthy.

'Young male human' wearing a dress. Let kids be kids.

Thank you

You know when you are so far down the rabbit hole you start wondering if you are losing you're mind?

Glad to know I'm not.

No argument needed, he was born male, so he’s a boy, nobody in real life would even think to question this fact .

Thank you Guardian

I've been saying this but apparently 'boy' is a gendered term

I've said it refers to sex many times. I've pointed out we use terms like 'colt' and 'filly' to denote the sex of foals and that foals no more have gender than they do a view on Brexit.

It's getting me nowhere.

I should disengage but I keep getting drawn back in.

boy is the term for a male child- it describes his sex not his gender
