I don't know if I can manage this any more. Like life wasn't hard enough already with the prospect of working until my mid seventies, having to fight to be paid my fair worth, never being able to buy a house, etc. I don't know what to do about all this hatred and erasure of women - I feel totally powerless and miserable at the thought that people who have no share of my life experience are seen as being no different from me, and totally qualified to speak for me.

Of course an MP whether male or female is never going to be able to perfectly understand all of their constituents - how could they? But from a women's officer, I expect a woman, and hopefully an older and wiser and tougher one than myself, because that's who I want fighting for me. Not some whinging teenager who feels free to threaten rape, but then cries "meanies!" when challenged.

And this is supposed to be a great leap forward in our tolerance - what an enlightened society we are! Where anyone can be anything! How hollow that claim rings when you really examine it. And the great and the good shut their eyes to scientific facts and tell us not to be hysterical.

I have been so depressed about this the past few days. I don't see that there is any hope.

Don't despair. Very few people really believe that men can be women. There have been many weird fads in history but commonsense and science always prevails in the end. For example, not so long ago, a good many seemingly rational people, such as Conan Doyle, embraced spiritualism and mediums and even believed in fairies. Not much trace of all that nonsense now.

I do think a fever has overtaken our politics, media and institutions.

I also think it can't last. Transitioned minor regret will be one undoing. And there will be a scandal - Ian Huntley being transferred to a women's prison, or perhaps those paedophile vigilante groups will catch on to what's going on and start targeting the abusers who use trans as a cover. And public opinion plus legal cases will domino topple the entire edifice. Because it is a house of cards.

I think the great success of the current iteration of transactivism is that it has brought together wildly disparate things - transsexualism; fetishistic cross-dressing; GNC children; dysphoric youth - so that you can't criticise the nasty MRA agenda spearheading it without also throwing genuine transsexuals and vulnerable young kids under the bus.

But this is also its greatest weakness. Because the MRA agenda is sexually abusive and violent and insatiable. It can never, ever be satisfied. It will eat itself eventually and we will all cheer.

But it has momentum right now and I don't think we can prevent a great deal of damage being done while it's still in ascendancy. There will be a lot of rebuilding for women because this lot will reduce everything to rubble before finally going down. And I fear for the status of genuine transsexuals at the end of it, too.

MakeMisogynyAHateCrime · 05/12/2017 23:20

I think if we are to protest we have to get it just right. We have to all use the same language so there is no confusion (people with no idea about this think TERFs are moaning about the “old” transsexuals and have no idea about all of this new ideology). We have gone succinct, not use irony, sarcasm, hyperbole but be straight to the point in all literature, websites and signs. It’s not that the information out there right now isn’t superb - it bloody well is however it won’t attract people in. We need to sum up our main points on one side of A5. We need sound bites. I hate that the world is reduced to this but the other side of the war have all of this and we don’t - we are the losing side.

There is constant talk about how others are already doing it but I live in a big city and have never seen anything about this. I don’t have Facebook (other than professionally) so the only place I face this issue (and come across vocal people) is on here and in my old job.
We need to rally together and not be stopped because someone else is already doing it. We can do this, we can.

bambambini · 05/12/2017 23:19

They’ve played a blinder with LM. Untouchable. A young teenage girl being harrassed and attacked to the point of their MH is suffering- by mean older women (and bigoted men). A blinder.

MiMi78 · 05/12/2017 23:15

I think one in London.
All media seems focused up that way Grin
I'm in South West and would definitely go and pick up.

Or perhaps coordinating ones in each major city and town. Then all do something symbolic at exact same time?

Or is just one in London a better idea?

Imagine how amazing. Women from all over, picking up strangers. Gravitating to make our voice heard.

Has the time come?

RaininSummer · 05/12/2017 23:09

I feel quite cut off in my neck of the woods and do worry about how visible protest would be treated by my employers but I think the time is coming for a mass rally of some kind.

MiMi78 · 05/12/2017 23:04

Its at moments like this when you find refuge in the unlikeliest of places.
I always find my views are the opposite of people in my traditional mostly working class village when something crops up, Brexit, the heartbreaking refugee crisis etc etc. Probably as I'm a screaming liberal.
But every single person I've spoken to regarding this all has the same opinion, along the lines of 'you're fucking joking' or 'sick of it being rammed down my throat'.
I can't see how the GRA will work in RL, at least not in the usual towns.

MakeMisogynyAHateCrime · 05/12/2017 23:01

A protest will need thousands of attendees for us not to be singled out and doxxed.

I would happily ferry people from Manchester/the north.

Does anyone know about the legalities of setting up safe protests that won’t get stopped by the police etc.?

Gacapa · 05/12/2017 22:55

Do we need to organise a mass protest? With as many people as possible able to attend? I'd move hell and high water to be there.

Would it be dangerous? We'd need thousands. A huge effort of organisation and using all our skills to facilitate.

We need something URGENTLY.

Perhaps begin with a formations of us meeting in various places we can easily travel to and then linking up ideas to bring it all together?

I'm happy to do face to face stuff now. MNFC is a tour de force, but can we go further and form an actual tight and shit hot political and organised visible campaign?

I think the time is crucial.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 05/12/2017 22:30

The grinny face should NOT have been there!!!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 05/12/2017 22:29

I think it comes from being born to parents who worship boys!!! My work colleague actually said to me when she was pregnant that she apologized to her useless partner when she thought she was having a girl!!😥😥😥😊

I have to say...I was the opposite (smug)!! I have girls and boys and my girls are bouncing with confidence because I LOVE THEM SO MUCH❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

whitehandledkitchenknife · 05/12/2017 22:18

Being of simple mind, I think of Milky in 'This is England' joining the NF, when I think of the females aligning themselves with trans women. Thinking it will afford some protection.

MrGHardy · 05/12/2017 22:16

"Nothing directly, but they've criticised university 'safe spaces' where opinions are banned if they may cause offense or upset. I thought this was a bullshit but it seems to be true."

This. I am so glad I am out of university.

I get it OP. I sometimes feel the same.

BUT at the end of the day, we have an objective truth on our side. Males are never and cannot become female. Females will always remain female. Nobody has ever changed sex throughout human history. Ever. Human reproduction means that it's impossible to disregard this necessary and important fact forever.

Even if they win this battle, they won't win the war. Every generation will be confronted with the realisation that one group of people have the potential to make sperm and the other eggs. They can't prevent this.

colouringinagain · 05/12/2017 22:05

I'm with you OP. The more I learn, the more daunted I feel. I feel v grateful for these boards on mumsnet. I've tried to talk to some friends and family about the whole trans nightmare, but they look at me like I'm completely bonkers!

SelmaAndJubjub · 05/12/2017 21:59

I think a hugely important learning point from all this is that - until women have equal power in the media (including social media) - all other progress we make is tenuous. The media - especially social media - which have uncritically endorsed the TRA agenda because, as many have pointed out, they are really men's rights activists conveniently repackaged with a progressive veneer, so the male-dominated media feel perfectly comfortable with them. Politicians have fallen into line because the media have suppressed all dissenting voices.

If the very identities of half the world's population can be taken away and re-defined by 0.2% of the population, then there is literally nothing that cannot be taken from us, including education and the vote. This may seem overblown, but who would have believed a decade ago that women would be violently silenced for saying that men cannot become female?

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 05/12/2017 21:59

I know what you mean, Knife!! I find myself doing this--> Confused whenever I see one!!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 05/12/2017 21:57

When one is feeling weak, another will pick up. Women are brilliant at this. We get it. We perform a beautiful choreography around each other.

Is that what men hate about us?? WHY do men hate us?? They kill, abduct, abuse and torture us but we don't hate them!!! WHY??

whitehandledkitchenknife · 05/12/2017 21:56

Maybe it's time to resurrect political lesbian status LastGirl Grin. I don't hate men, but I do reserve a certain withering impatience.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 05/12/2017 21:49

Take heart, OP!! Look at all the strong, smart, utterly and outrageously courageous women there are....don't they shout louder to you than the weak, pathetic males?

I don't have male friends because I learned a long time ago that, as a woman, they will NEVER be loyal to me as a friend should!! At least, not the same way they would about a fellow male. Well, I make the exception of my husband. He is the exception that proves the rule.

I wish I liked men. I do envy women who do. Ignorance is bliss and all that!!

whitehandledkitchenknife · 05/12/2017 21:47

I meant to add, don't get down OP. Each time something is written here, it is being read by so many. More and more people are waking up to the nonsense. Once a critical point of awareness has been reached, maybe then we can begin to have the discussion that some have been asking for, for a long time.
