I don't know if I can manage this any more. Like life wasn't hard enough already with the prospect of working until my mid seventies, having to fight to be paid my fair worth, never being able to buy a house, etc. I don't know what to do about all this hatred and erasure of women - I feel totally powerless and miserable at the thought that people who have no share of my life experience are seen as being no different from me, and totally qualified to speak for me.

Of course an MP whether male or female is never going to be able to perfectly understand all of their constituents - how could they? But from a women's officer, I expect a woman, and hopefully an older and wiser and tougher one than myself, because that's who I want fighting for me. Not some whinging teenager who feels free to threaten rape, but then cries "meanies!" when challenged.

And this is supposed to be a great leap forward in our tolerance - what an enlightened society we are! Where anyone can be anything! How hollow that claim rings when you really examine it. And the great and the good shut their eyes to scientific facts and tell us not to be hysterical.

I have been so depressed about this the past few days. I don't see that there is any hope.

It is the misogynist’ stroke of genius to simply become a woman. It is a very clever strategy to use the privilege and come right behind the liberals to erase women and gay people. There are people who have woken up tot this and more will in time. I have a dd so I have decided to take arms against a sea of troubles even if it means losing my career and some friends. I owe it to her as I am indebted to previous generations.

Ereshkigal · 06/12/2017 19:19

Don't ever use their language if you can possibly avoid it. Don't say "gender neutral" say "unisex" or even better "mixed sex". Don't ever use "gender" when you mean sex, or "trans women".

Ereshkigal · 06/12/2017 19:16

But this is also its greatest weakness. Because the MRA agenda is sexually abusive and violent and insatiable. It can never, ever be satisfied. It will eat itself eventually and we will all cheer.

Yes you're absolutely right. I agree a lot of short term pain first though.

Ereshkigal · 06/12/2017 19:13

Why? Why is it women percieve males to be so much better they are even better women than we are?

Sadly it's internalised misogyny from all these first class "feminists".

Ereshkigal · 06/12/2017 19:10

I feel like I'm watching a bunch of gleeful spoiled brats bring down Western civilisation; cheered on by people who are closet male rights activists, but who prefer the virtue signalling that goes with pretending to be left wing.

As so many "male feminists" and left wing men have turned out to be sexual predators, it often may well be a ploy. These girls have been well conditioned to put men first, after all.

Yup it is horrific. Wouldn't blame you if you needed to take a break.

I have been doxed, slandered, abused on social media and I take breaks too.

There is hope, always hope. Much love to you x Flowers

cafe, I could be wrong of course...but in the context of today's "there's no impact assessment for Brexit" I think it would not be at all surprising to find out that a number of MPs don't really understand the GRA.

In fact, looking over the Hansard notes of the debate gave me that impression to start with!! I wouldn't be at all surprised if those lauding Madigan don't know anything about what's been posted on social media.

cafeaulaitpourvous · 06/12/2017 17:37

Politicians are scared of saying anything that might offend people --- actually that's not quite right, they are scared of offending men.

They don't give a flying fuck about women - we are the shit on their shoes and we need to be taken down a peg

Nyx1 · 06/12/2017 17:33

politicians don't appear to be paying attention to anything that's a detail at the moment.

i have written to my local MP 3 times about GRA. I'm now going to screenshot some of the things I've seen and add those in but not sure if it will help.

it is possible that he's thinking things over but he would normally send some kind of holding email.

This process is being played out everywhere. Allies, desperate to be supportive, but eventually being unable to close their eyes to the misogyny.

I have seen numerous women talking about having gone through the exact same realisation.

Couldn’t see the problem, why not be nice, they’re just like us, etc, Until, inexorably the scales fall.

Then, after a period of self flagellation, the anger sets in and they cannot believe how they were deceived.

Fortunately, transactivists have a propensity for shooting themselves in the foot and scoring own goal after own goal. The more you engage, the quicker it happens.

The most lowering realisation is why it has to take quite so much for people to see what is in front of their eyes. Either because they can’t, or because they don’t want to.

However, there are enough decent people who will see, who can see, and who will come to see.

hackmum · 06/12/2017 11:07

MrGHardy: That's even worse! I think it shows the degree to which women are indoctrinated from an early age into a sense of self-loathing.

Seeing someone like Angela Rayner fawn over Lily and talk about keeping a seat warm for her in the House of Commons is just staggering. Hasn't she seen the rape joke? The lying about what she said to the Times journalist? The comparison of the women-only Race for Life with apartheid-era South Africa? The hounding out of a longstanding, dedicated Labour Party member as women's officer? If she has seen those things and still believes that Lily is a fine role model, then she really is beyond hope.

MrGHardy · 06/12/2017 10:45

What about all the women supporting Lily?

hackmum · 06/12/2017 10:37

It is very dispiriting to discover that men you thought were on board with feminism turn out to have hated us all along. It's the glee of discovering that you can insult feminists with impunity, because that apparently makes you a "progressive". You just realise that that loathing must have been there all along. I look at someone like Ed Miliband - who I assume isn't stupid - and think: you too?

The only thing that can be said for it is that it's invigorating. It means the battle lines are drawn. We know who's on the side of women and we know who's on the side of men.

"My fear is that it's so obvious that men cannot be women that most people don't think this could ever encroach into the way things are."

That's the problem, the majority of people understand that men cannot become women in the same way that they understand that gravity exists, as far as they are concerned no one would be daft enough to believe otherwise.

Goatgirly · 06/12/2017 07:49

My fear is that it's so obvious that men cannot be women that most people don't think this could ever encroach into the way things are.
Right now the majority of people don't have a reason to suspect the implications of erasing women.
Or it's the fact that around half the population are men so don't really give a shit because it doesn't affect them, and of the other half, there are too many who are fully bought into the ideology and in their quest to be cool with it all will sleep walk into a situation where there is fuck all that can be done.
We all need to be suffragettes again.

whitehandledkitchenknife · 06/12/2017 06:57

That could be a placard Thermostat. Very Father TedGrin

Thermostatpolice · 06/12/2017 06:55

YY to the Woman's Place five demands. They are very, very reasonable.

SelmaAndJubjub · 06/12/2017 05:14

They’ve played a blinder with LM.

I disagree. LM is getting lots of women to peak trans.

Nyx1 · 06/12/2017 00:28

Conan Doyle example doesn't relate
he wasn't trying to force his views on anyone
He wanted the church to recognise it and there are now spiritualist churches but I don't think he undermined anyone else in his numerous bits of writing on the subject.

I think it will collapse as knowledge spreads but that will be too late fir women who are attacked or children who have taken meds.

MakeMisogynyAHateCrime · 06/12/2017 00:27

I think those demands are great.

I do think most people have no bloody clue why women want segregation and why it would be dangerous to have men in those spaces.

I also think about 99% of people have no idea which types of people now fit under the trans umbrella.

And as evidenced by TRAs on Twitter today they just write off anything on Wordpress or Tumblr instantly - unless of course it is support of extreme trans ideologies.

I’m not trying to be picky btw, it’s just that we need to be the majority and we need the majority to be vocal to stand a chance in this war. I’m seeing it from a PR/marketing perspective.
It’s so hard.

Gacapa · 06/12/2017 00:10

Yes those five demands are good.

irretating · 05/12/2017 23:56

The problem is theyve stolen our language so we cant even say "woman" without a long clarification of what that means.

Or say woman at all. Pregnant people, menstruators, non-male's are a few of the acceptable terms that I've become aware of. It's like living in some bonkers dystopian novel.

I think the 5 demands set out by A Woman's Place UK are succinct.
I can't do a link - sorry.
