James O'Brien: what a twat

Explained in this link. Basically, he bullied and shut down a female caller who said she'd be frightened to share a changing room with men. He didn't just take an opposing view - he ridiculed her.

Yet another liberal bro reveals himself as a misogynist. And a stupid one. Even if he doesn't care about women in general, he has 2 pre-teen daughters. Will he really want them changing and showering with men?

Just to be clear ruth - you don't know about Erin Pizzey's dog unless you've been lapping up the misogynistic crap that Paul Elam and the like's sites spew out.

Nobody else would even know about this shit - because it's MRA bullshit.

You've scuppered yourself by your own posts. You are an MRA bot.

RosaTheOwl · 15/11/2017 23:03

Ruth "It is a bit off topic for sure, but if you look back through the thread I'm genuinely responding to posters questioning my views."

Ha ha ha ha ha NO.

Everyone else, I doubt I'll get a reply from him but it will be quite outing if I post that here. So I guess watch this space in case he changes his mind. He has done that before and said so on air. Just hope he will this time.

ShoesHaveSouls · 15/11/2017 23:00

I know, and everyone else knows, we can't change your opinion. You've been recruited to the MRA cause.

But the fact that you don't realise we see you, that we don't see what you're doing - is quite baffling. You're talking to intelligent women here - in the main - do you really think we don't recognise MRA derailing arguments when we see them? We've seen it all before - most of us have been here years.

You're derailing, Ruth - it's an age old tactic - completely detached from the subject under discussion. The question is - why do you keep doing it? Pocket Paul Elam is my guess. Good luck with that.

UnbridledRuth · 15/11/2017 22:54

I suppose it's fair to say that it's the implementation rather than the concept which I have an issue with.

UnbridledRuth · 15/11/2017 22:53

Shoes

It is a bit off topic for sure, but if you look back through the thread I'm genuinely responding to posters questioning my views.

I actually don't think many of the posters on here are the type of feminist I've got an issue with tbh, but I've met a lot of middle class women (especially when I worked at a large solicitors) who liked to play the oppression card when they're comparatively privileged. Although it is likely chicken and egg since a lot of feminists by nature want to succeed in business and eschew traditional roles, so it's unsurprising many end up in privileged/powerful positions.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 15/11/2017 22:31

It definitely a massive problem and i think its great that you are (like rosa) doing something to help

ShoesHaveSouls · 15/11/2017 22:30

Ruth - tell me, what made you bring up homelessness on a thread about James O'Brien? Is it because you're a MN equivalent of a twitter MRA bot? Derailing in anyway possible. I think we all know the answer to that.

Homelessness is a real issue - particularly now in the UK. Are you in the UK? Tory Austerity has hit hard - but really, it's pretty irrelevant to James O'B. Start a thread. Go on.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 15/11/2017 22:28

ruth

I think you mean a 'predominately male problem, or mainly perhaps

Its certainly not just a male problem

RosaTheOwl · 15/11/2017 22:27

Ruth "A lot of people seem to think that griping online is an honourable pursuit when it does little to actually help those at the pointy end."

Why is it griping? It's been very useful in formulating responses to MPs and now I hear GRA is a being looked at more carefully?

Btw I'm not clear where you are based but I volunteer at a homeless shelter, it would be weird if we turn out to know each other.

You say no one will admit to being MRA. See the similarities between that and the stats you give on feminism.....

UnbridledRuth · 15/11/2017 22:26

And don't pretend that I couldn't find numerous feminists of the more misandrist variety who mention the same arguments that I frequently see on here...

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 15/11/2017 22:25

Some of them obviously

Grin
UnbridledRuth · 15/11/2017 22:24

I agree with some of the points MRAs make. The difference is that many only use them as a beating stick against women, just as many feminists use statistics to berate men and don't actually do anything more.

Homelessness is a male problem often brought up by MRAs. I think it's a real issue and I'm trying to make my own small contribution. It doesn't trump women's issues, but neither should it be ignored.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 15/11/2017 22:24

far

Chuggers make a good wage for themselves

And some of the absolutely use some shitty tactics to sign people up

Your twisting of cruids words were a perfect example of a chugger in action

ShoesHaveSouls · 15/11/2017 22:22

Feminists killing Erin Pizzey's dog due to her suggesting that women can be as violent as men.

You posted that ^ Ruth - it's straight off online how-to-be-an-MRA sites. You know, we know it.

Maybe try to have your own thoughts next time?

FarFrom · 15/11/2017 22:22

Sorry rufus my response was before you asked me if I was a chugger?!

I’m not. But ‘chuggers’ are often young people trying to make some money- also shouldn’t be villified.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 15/11/2017 22:22

Im not the best at links far

But loads come up if you google Girl child soldiers

I have read a few articles previously, its another example of female 'activity' being hidden

Its like this fact

women make up a large part of agricultural labor: In Sub-Saharan Africa in 2015, they represented 40 % of the agricultural labor force. In some developing countries, their contributions exceed 50%.

Virtually ignored

UnbridledRuth · 15/11/2017 22:20

At least I'm actually doing something. A lot of people seem to think that griping online is an honourable pursuit when it does little to actually help those at the pointy end.

UnbridledRuth · 15/11/2017 22:18

Ok, if you say so, Xenophile...

ShoesHaveSouls · 15/11/2017 22:18

Right, xenophile, there's no 'technically' about it, Ruth. Your points on this thread are straight off (I mean, practically c&p) off AVFM website.

You can deny it all you like, but we see you.

FarFrom · 15/11/2017 22:17

Xenophile- what do you mean? Do you want studies? I can give you them?

Xenophile · 15/11/2017 22:16

Ruth, there's nothing technical about it at all. You're MRA in tooth and claw. Paul Elam must be proud of you.

Xenophile · 15/11/2017 22:15

Goodness, all those words and so very little truth in them. You need to up your game FarFrom.

UnbridledRuth · 15/11/2017 22:15

Technically I'm an MRA.
