I may actually try and go to this if I am feeling brave.

Does anyone know why the venue was changed?

Nineteenagain · 10/01/2018 23:08

Me too. Object do some great research.
Agent i was costa but didnt see anyone. Ended up joing with some women who were outside it with an itv cameraman. They approached me thankfully otherwise i wouldnt have known where to go.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/01/2018 23:08

I always wonder what randoms passing by make of the protesters, other than making confused faces and asking what a TERF is.

PlectrumElectrum · 10/01/2018 23:07

No worries Agent - I'm just glad it went ahead & it's given me the incentive to get more active - maybe next meeting I'll be brace enough to say hello to more people Smile

I spoke to someone who had a greenish jacket on & then she got up & disappeared - think it was before you got there & I thought I'd offended her! And one of the protesters sat beside me & I was clueless!

It was the weirdest set up - wanting to speak but not knowing who you could actually speak to without screwing up the whole thing!

My nerves are pretty shattered!

Have we been on the news yetGrin?

PlectrumElectrum · 10/01/2018 23:02

I'm going to find out more about object & Radfem collective? Is that what they said in the announcement at the end?

AgentProvocateur · 10/01/2018 23:02

@plectrumelectrum, I don’t know if I met you! I was sitting beside a very lovely MNer. I got to Costa, couldn’t see anyone with a red tablet cover, so I joined up with two other women and we walked down to the venue. It was a great night. I’m full of rage and ready to revolt now!

PerfectlyDone · 10/01/2018 23:00

Interesting and inspiring evening - I am so glad I went.

I am very angry and sad about the young person who was shouting with the TRAs who looked like they had learning disabilities - it seemed awfully exploitative.

A bit of mansplaining went on - it was lovely how 'not all men' from Stuart got a laugh: I don't think he knew what was so funny Grin

Brava to the plucky organiser Thanks

PlectrumElectrum · 10/01/2018 22:59

Apologies to anyone who PMd me - my phone is crap with accessing PMs & I kept getting frozen out of them.

Nineteenagain · 10/01/2018 22:59

Ah yes

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/01/2018 22:56

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/01/2018 22:54

In case any of them are on here, a massive thank you to the organiser (who managed to book a new venue in 20 minutes Shock ), to the speakers, and to the chair.

(And Magdalen Berns was in the audience !)

Nineteenagain · 10/01/2018 22:54

Yeah i was majorly impressed with the chair too.

PlectrumElectrum · 10/01/2018 22:52

I just got home - great meeting. Felt really unnerved at the meeting point & one of the protesters was actually sitting amongst us, i think I mistook one of them for Agent Provocateur Confused we were followed from costa to venue too.

But I'm so glad it went ahead. Loads of great points made and it was brilliant hearing women speak. Bloody brilliant.

And it was great to see the brilliant Magdalene Berns there too.

The uni lecturer was def going for the Jordan Peterson angle with his speech. And bloody well done to the meeting chairwoman keep a tight lid on the lecturing in the Q&A session.

Brilliant seems to be my new favourite word. Grin

Crome
Sorry just saw your post. Yes as iismum said, not very many. Dont know why we were all so worried!

Nineteenagain · 10/01/2018 22:45

Iismum
It was nice to meet you and chat!

iismum · 10/01/2018 22:40

Oops, just realised I got the quotation marks wrong. The banner said 'terfs support the patriarchy', or something like that - it didn't literally say 'terfs support the patriarchy or something like that'. I think that would have been a better reflection of the clarity of their thinking!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/01/2018 22:37

And that was despite the last minute venue change...

OP posts:
iismum · 10/01/2018 22:33

That was great, I really enjoyed it. Very interesting. When I arrived (about 1845) there were maybe 10-15 protestors outside, with a large banner ('terfs support the patriarchy or something like that') and a drum. They were pretty passive. Inside, there were maybe 4/5 protestors.

cromeyellow0 · 10/01/2018 22:22

Nineteenagain I'd be interested to know how many protesters?

Nineteenagain · 10/01/2018 22:02

Really enjoyed it actually. I hope we can get some kind of coordinated effort organised. There was talk of regular meetings.

Nineteenagain · 10/01/2018 21:59

I just left too. No problems. Just a lot of noise.!

AgentProvocateur · 10/01/2018 21:57

They are very noisy! I’m in Buchanan st and can hear them.

AgentProvocateur · 10/01/2018 21:56

For people still there, I just left via station exit. No protestors. They’re at the Gordon st entrance but so are the police
