And I am delighted!

Okay, there is a tiny bit of evidence that JK may be gender critical. She 'liked' a gender critical post on Twitter, and the TRAs are going mental over it. JK hasn't responded yet (and I doubt she will)

In other news, Jenna Jameson (famous porn star) has also 'come out' as gender critical!

Is the tide turning? If we get JK on our side, then yes!

badbad - there's also the growing "no-fap" movement among men who are trying to give up porn and reclaim a decent sexuality more connected to real human beings and emotions!

badbadhusky · 25/10/2017 21:13

Just stumbled across the term “fap off” (wanking) on that hentai reddit, which has really tickled me for some reason. So glad DH has gone out for milk, cause I’m lolling like a wrong ‘un. It’s an interesting read alright.

PricklyBall · 25/10/2017 21:03

That reddit link is very interesting Quentin - funnily enough I was going to come back to this thread to comment that there's a lot of trans stuff on, say, Archive of Our Own (and some fandoms seem to attract more than others - there's a lot of trans stuff on the Hobbit fandom, weirdly enough).

It's fascinating to read young adults (often those somewhere on the AS) reflecting on their teen years in fandom. They pick up (as first person accounts) a lot of stuff I'd kind of armchair-psychologised about as a reader: the fear of real sex, the idealised sex, the unacknowledged lesbianism diverted into something else (imagining themselves as teen boys in relationships with girls). And what they describe as the "heteronormativity" of a lot of slash (male/male pairings) which in fact is a faux-homosexualized (can't think of a better description - bears no relation to any gay relationship I've ever seen my friends in) version not of a healthy heterosexual relationship, but rather a homosexual parody of the most regressive elements of Mills and Boon - the "femme" partner as swooningly submissive, the "dom" character as mad, bad and dangerous to know.

badbadhusky · 25/10/2017 20:55

Well I was foolish enough to google hentai and it was a very different listing to what I am used to. I fair clutched my pearls (and, no, that is not a euphemism). Thank God for wikipedia. And those manga hermaphrodites with tits and todgers are most odd, the weirdest bit being the cartoony faces. There are some seriously odd folk about if that’s what floats their boats.

Anlaf · 25/10/2017 20:40

Those links on hentai really are eye-opening quentin

The futanari are just cartoon hyper perky/porny woman-girls, but with mighty wanky penises. (this is my and not the Wikipedia description).

Fascinating.

I once bought some manga books in Japan for a young relative. It was somewhat challenging to find any that did not feature wanky penises or giant tits on a snake, or similar.

Head exploding but like your reply Pricky to the SJW hunters

BTW, 'The Best of the Left' podcast assigns 'Social Justice Warrior' status to those who give cash at the top tier of their 'contributors'. The irony is lost on these fuckers

....And of course, they all go on about TERFs

[Feeling a bit politically lost]

QuentinSummers · 25/10/2017 20:22

Just remembered the specific Hentai- Futanari
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futanari

Wikipedia image is NSFW

It's all very odd. Some men are such porn hounds Confused

QuentinSummers · 25/10/2017 20:14

There was a whole thread on reddit about Hentai and trans women
www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/GenderCritical/comments/4lrh1z/whats_the_link_between_trans_and_anime/

This fuss about the article is ridiculous! She explicitly is talking about MEN recognising women's need for sex exclusive spaces and the TRAs start saying she's talking about trans women and she wants them all to die. Hmm

I've had those convos on here - the TRA conflated what you say about predatory men with trans women even when you explicitly state you are talking about predatory men NOT trans women. Dies my head in!

Anlaf · 25/10/2017 18:50

Like Jessica Fletcher in virtual reality:

Snape thought to be trans!
Transactivists have anime profile pics on twitter, because some of them like Hentai! I thought they just liked naice cartoons
JK Rowling decried as TERF!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/10/2017 18:41

I heard somewhere that there's fanfic about Harry being a transgirl. Apparently Hermione proves it by showing Harry that "she" can get into the girls'dormitory.

Terfing · 25/10/2017 18:39

Tonks! Not Tony!

I would just like to say that I have met @gappytales IRL. We had a lovely chat & realised that we followed each other on Twitter.

Terfing · 25/10/2017 18:39

Shape is trans?!? I think they missed the big plot twist in book 7... Grin

That did make me chuckle though! Surely Toni's was the closest trans character?

OP posts:
Anlaf · 25/10/2017 18:38

Actually, is this why lots and lots of transactivists have anime profile pictures?

Because, it's not just because they like the cat-bus cartoon?

I have never made this connection.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 25/10/2017 18:34

Dont google is Snape trans either

I have now lost my ipad and a perfectly good window...

Anlaf · 25/10/2017 18:32

Just to avoid sending people off on an ill-advised googling adventure

& Harry Potter is a Cop

Is that like the 15 year olds I heard talking about 'the Feds' hanging around so they were going somewhere else in Uxbridge town centre last year? Cops are a bad thing?

I mean, I don't particularly like Harry Potter (the character, the books are OK - at least they're not those whatsit compass books), but not because he's a cop - but because he's totally un-self-aware and has his friends sort everything for him a bit too often.

miri1985 · 25/10/2017 18:28

Great minds DoubleRamsey

nauticant · 25/10/2017 18:26

Just to avoid sending people off on an ill-advised googling adventure, Hentai is a word of Japanese origin which is short for a perverse sexual desire. As such you'll find that images relating to rape, paedophilia, and bestiality are common. Even the less extreme images conjure up a very unpleasant view on what women (typically very young women) are and are for.

SpookghosttiAndMeatboos · 25/10/2017 18:25

Cormoran Strike

Oh! that was her! I mean, I watched it for Musketeer dude and woman from something I don't remember but I like her, didn't realise it was Rowling that wrote it. Good job her.

BelaLugosisShed · 25/10/2017 18:24

Unless she had searched for herself + terf, she will have no idea a few nutters are discussing her terfiness, I saw a few of them a couple of days ago, dissing Professor Brian Cox, apparently the only reason he advocates free speech in Unis is because his wife, Gia Millinovich is a big old terf who was no platformed 'somewhere'. The are desperate to be offended.

DoubleRamsey · 25/10/2017 18:18

X-post Miri Grin

I see I'm not the only one!

DoubleRamsey · 25/10/2017 18:18

I suspected she was a TERF when I read career of evil.

It was interesting the way she talked about 'transabled' people. I couldn't help but think it was a veiled reference to transgender issues.

Don't want to say more cos of spoilers.

miri1985 · 25/10/2017 18:15

I've had my suspicions that shes gender critical for a while. I don't know if any of you have read her Cormoran Strike book series.

The tv programme left it out but book 2 features a man who identifies as a woman and I don't want to give anything away but does not show this to be the most stable and rational person.

A large proportion of book 3 focuses on transabled people and how bloody nuts it is to cut healthy body parts of yourself rather than get help
