Another example of someone who has drunk the Kool-aid! But thankfully, this piece of nonsense seems to have backfired on him....

Today 13:38 pombal

Can men and transmen really not cope with buying a few bits from the women's aisle??

I'm sure most men have little trouble. Transmen, on the other hand, might find it more difficult.

Affirming their manhood would be preferable.

PinkSquash · 16/08/2017 13:39

He was utterly slammed by other officers for the garb he came out with. He deleted his Twitter feed IIRC

That was in response to Katniss btw

Not everything is about male appropriation of female things.

No, but this is.

MtFs are the driving force behind it. They are using transmen to further their agenda.

I'm not at all disputing that transmen don't object to it, I'm sure they do. But it is transwomen who will be nailing it home, time after time.

Transmen are women. Their voices are as irrelevant as any other woman's. They're not clamouring to get into men's spaces, to change the definition of the word man, none of it. They are not online telling men how to be men.

Or if they are, no one is listening.

This case is no different.

Transwomen actively do not want this specific parts of womanhood that relate to biology to be designated as anything to do with women.

Hence the pussy hat outrage on the women's march.

And I completely agree, it makes no sense. Because it's not about them wanting to be women. It's about them not wanting women to be women.

ButtHoleinOne · 16/08/2017 13:35

I think feminine hygiene is perfectly reasonable. Flowers and fluffy things aren't feminine, periods are.

TinyRick · 16/08/2017 13:34

Not quite, he said that there were male products on the shelf too. That was his complaint apparently

So all the store has to do is move those 'male' products and the sign would be correct, yes?

ButtHoleinOne · 16/08/2017 13:34

Surely this is more saying that FTM transgender people still need to use tampons etc but identify as male? Not about MTF?

Is the police officer who said it a ftm, I assumed it was another well meaning lefty man?

PaintingByNumbers · 16/08/2017 13:32

Feminine hygiene is a ridiculous phrase anyway, maybe it would suit the flowery perfume section

DJBaggySmalls · 16/08/2017 13:29

He got a lot of criticism on his Twitter post, and Sussex Police had to post to confirm he wasn't a troll - impersonating a police officer is a crime.
People are also saying they'll boycott Tesco if they change the signs to gender neutral.

Katnisnevergreen · 16/08/2017 13:27

But the article says that men use these products too as the argument for changing the title. Therefore it doesn't seem to be about MTF but FTM as they would be the men using the products. MYF wouldn't want the name changed as they see themselves as women.

Not everything is about male appropriation of female things.

It might well be, but you never hear them actually say it. It's driven by MTT.

It's a double whammy. Transmen will object to the word feminine on the basis that they are men and transwomen will object on the basis that it's exclusionary.

And no, that doesn't make any sense. Not only because you can't be excluded from something that doesn't apply to you, but also because the word feminine does not denote sex and could apply to them anyway on the basis of their gender presentation.

So on the one hand you can't have it because it refers to gender, and on the other you can't have it because it denotes sex.

But they still don't like it. Anything that actively singles out women for a biological function that exclude them, is considered cissexist. And must be neutralised.

ButtHoleinOne · 16/08/2017 11:31
Hmm

But it's fine for men to say they "feel feminine in a dress" but not say feminine hygiene.

I'm glad we all accept that only people with penises get to difine words now

VestalVirgin · 15/08/2017 20:46

It is very worrying that a police officer doesn't know what constitutes a crime.

Apart from the ridiculousness of it all, I am pretty sure there's no law against selling feminine hygiene products, therefore, it is not a crime at all.

This toilet sign is shitty and sexist, and I am not at all forgiving when it comes to sexism, but I wouldn't call it a hate crime. And I am pretty sure that no feminist would do so.

Sadly, though. the genderists will probably applaud him for wrongly calling the selling of feminine hygiene products a "hate crime". Because hurt manfeelz are just the same as violent men killing black people or women. Angry

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 15/08/2017 20:18

He has also recently weighed in on the M&S "mummy in a pink dress toilet door sign" debate. No matter what your opinion on that issue I would hope we can all agree it wasn't a hate crime (by about several million miles)

The design was also condemned by Sussex Police hate crime ambassador Sergeant Peter Allan, who wrote on the Facebook thread: "This should not be happening in 2017."

MorrisZapp · 15/08/2017 12:13

Blimey. I can hear the screech of brakes and see the skid marks left that that u-turn from the independent. Maybe next time they're reporting actual serious crime they could be bloody honest and not tell us that a 'woman has stabbed a man' when it's a trans woman.
