Male TERFS...

This is something which has been bothering me for while. As more and more people hit 'peak trans', more and more men are being gender critical. The most famous examples being Tucker Carlson, Ricky Gervais, and Piers Morgan. The other day, Graham Linehan (writer of Father Ted and IT Crowd) tweeted about the misogyny of calling women terfs. The response he received was half negative/ half positive, but the negative posts contained no death/ rape threats (as a lot of attacks on female terfs usually do). For example, the reaction to Jenni Murray was largely negative, with the positive responses being anonymous.

It seems that men are being taken more seriously than women on this issue. Linehan is not experiencing the same backlash Jenni got. I think people see his opinion as more valid than hers.

My point is, and I hate to say this, but we need men to help more people reach 'peak trans' and for the issue to be taken more seriously. It's safer for men to do this as their not in danger of losing their jobs, credibility etc, in the same way that women are.

Here is Graham Linhan's Twitter which shows you what he said: twitter.com/Glinner

Thoughts?

Terfing

There is now some interest in transplanting a woman's uterus into a man.

My thoughts on the subject are perfectly summed up by the exchange in this photo. (Warning, might trigger blood pressure overload).

Fuck! Just realized that this Dawson clown named themselves 'Juno'. 'Juno' was the goddess of women and childbirth!!!! How dare they? Angry

There was an excellent and very sad documentary about gay Iranians being forced to trans or leave Iran made a little while back. One of the young men who were followed talked about the pressure put on them to transition and their subsequent pain on discovering that while they had been a pretty man, they were not a pretty woman and found that they weren't desirable to men any more. It was heartbreaking to see how miserable they were (especially as they had ended up a refugee regardless, so effectively forced to transition and still losing their home and community).

Datun · 25/05/2017 09:32

These idiots will take themselves down.

Such a high level of narcissism will be their undoing.

Both Juno and Shon Faye are so caught up in their own ego driven narrative that they don't realise how obvious their prejudice is.

The feminists' radar was so finally honed, that they spotted it immediately.

But it really does not require any kind of intuition. The self-interest and self absorption is so prevalent, they expose themselves unwittingly.

PoochSmooch · 25/05/2017 09:15

Very true, Empress. And very telling. Homophobia is only really serious when it involves men.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/05/2017 09:13

None of them were worried about homophobia when it was just lesbians being attacked, of course...

PoochSmooch · 25/05/2017 09:11

God, Shon Faye's a numpty too.

It is quite entertaining watching the SJWs turn on each other though - thanks for the twitter link, datun. Must be intersectional! Argh, but this is homophobic? What to do...? (Blame TERFs? Yeah, that'll do).

I think this will peak trans a lot of gay men. Population by population, people are realising that this is not just as straightfoward as supporting an oppressed group in a rights struggle.

YouMayVeryWellThinkThat · 25/05/2017 08:52

It honestly blows my mind that people see this as a progressive stance. This is how people talked about being gay in the 80s in the wee village I grew up in - that being gay is effeminate, that it means gay men are really women, that they're not "real" men.

Yes Pooch. Also reminds me of when I've heard people say things about butch gay women, 'trying to be men' etc.

The independent article I just linked to mentions the gay men in Iran who are pressured to transition because it's more acceptable for them to be 'women' than to be gay men.

YouMayVeryWellThinkThat · 25/05/2017 08:47

I've just read this response from a gay man.

www.independent.co.uk/voices/juno-dawson-attitude-magazine-interview-transgender-gay-man-lgbt-trans-woman-a7752701.html

The independent article also quotes Dawson as having said, "I just wanted to get f**d like a woman. That's what it's about. It's not about what hole it's going in"

Datun · 25/05/2017 08:44

Seems Juno is getting some backlash from gay men who don't quite like being told they're doing gay all wrong.

Datun · 25/05/2017 08:17

Shon Faye saying the same as Juno Dawson.

Fliptophead · 25/05/2017 08:12

He also said that, and this was only his opinion, that in his experience, gay men are always looking for a hero. A tall, dark handsome stranger. And although they realise the contradiction, they would like them to be straight. So overcome by feeling, that they can't help falling in love with another man.

Which is basically a combination of the media's fantasies for women "tall dark man to save you"

And the one for Hetero men. A virgin who's overcome and submits to you only.

Datun · 25/05/2017 07:51

I've read some of the studies, I think by Blanchard, who said that gay men will transition to be women because they want to attract straight men, not gay men.

Which is homophobia in the purest sense, I guess.

I had a long, drunken conversation with my boss (who was gay) years ago. He said several things that resonated with me.

One of them was that because they couldn't be married (this was a while ago) or because they didn't have children, certain milestones were very important to gay men. Like anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas, etc. There were fewer 'celebration days'. Which stuck with me. (So I always make a big deal out of these things, now).

He also said that, and this was only his opinion, that in his experience, gay men are always looking for a hero. A tall, dark handsome stranger. And although they realise the contradiction, they would like them to be straight. So overcome by feeling, that they can't help falling in love with another man.

I'm sure it's not like that for everyone, but whenever a man says he's really a woman, but remains attracted to men, bells go off for me.

Fliptophead · 25/05/2017 07:04

Posted too early.

The football team that's made up of gay men who were forced to transition. So in other words a human rights violation for gay men. They've updated the article now to reflect it, but it was awful

Fliptophead · 25/05/2017 07:03

Pink news is shit though. It happily reported on the Iranian football team that's so trans positive.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 25/05/2017 06:57

Juno Dawson is a YA author.

I can see that article causing quite a backlash. Have Pink News covered it yet?

AdalindSchade · 25/05/2017 06:56

Trans women are often 'lesbians' (heterosexual males who fetishise women's bodies and eroticise themselves as women) or they are 'straight' (homosexual males who for various reasons, often internalised homophobia or highly homophobic families view themselves as really heterosexual women) Juno Dawson is the latter. Juno's views are highly offensive as gay men have been viewed as wannabe women or failed women for decades and they went through years of activism to throw off that belief and claim their identities as gay men

Fliptophead · 25/05/2017 06:50

Except aren't most of them 'lesbians'?

user1487175389 · 25/05/2017 06:41

It's really offensive. I've known a lot of gay men and they're all very happy being exactly that. I hope they'll see this and fight back.

PoochSmooch · 25/05/2017 06:18

Bloody hell.

Could the homophobia be any more transparent?

It honestly blows my mind that people see this as a progressive stance. This is how people talked about being gay in the 80s in the wee village I grew up in - that being gay is effeminate, that it means gay men are really women, that they're not "real" men.

WE ARE GOING BACKWARDS.

Terfing · 25/05/2017 00:42

Dawson gives me the creeps! Why are they even famous? What's their talent?

kua · 25/05/2017 00:04

There is a lot of discussion on Twitter.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 24/05/2017 23:21

I'm lost for words.

YouMayVeryWellThinkThat · 24/05/2017 18:37

This might inspire a few more men to join the cause: attitude.co.uk/a-lot-of-gay-men-are-gay-men-as-a-consolation-prize-because-they-couldnt-be-women-says-trans-author-juno-dawson/

“I think there are a lot of gay men out there who are gay men as a consolation prize because they couldn’t be women. That was certainly true of me.” - Juno Dawson

Bambambini · 24/05/2017 15:02

Well my husbsnd gets it, i think the sports issues are pretty clear cut for most folk to see how ridiculous it is.

Also had my first conversation on it with my 14 yr old son this morning who turns out is very gender critical and was rolling his eyes at SJW's and their safe spaces.
