Cis labels

I'm kind of new to reaching 'Peak Trans' and I had this thought...

So if, as the trans lobby keeps repeating 'trans women are women', why would they need to call biological women 'cis'?

If they really are female there would be no need for a distinction because by simply 'identifying' as female they would be

So they've made the distinction themselves by labelling biological women cis, doesn't that make the whole discussion about 'trans women being women' invalid by their own admission?

Sorry if this is totally obvious but I'm trying to work through my own thoughts on this

Somewhere in all of this information to schools, someone needs to say 'Be kind - but don't be naive.'

SuburbanRhonda · 27/04/2017 08:41

Here's the link to the Cornwall Schools Transgender Advice document:

CisGender - "not trans" this would be the person who has no conflict between their assigned sex at birth and their gender as it develops

Hmm

So it could be simple lust for power and narcissism driving him- it would fit with his previous actions.

I was thinking about this on my commute home, funny you should say that. I started wondering whether it was an elaborate social experiment to test how far you can push people and how much meaningless unfactual nonsense you can get them to accept.

venusinscorpio · 26/04/2017 21:41

I'm on HRT for menopause, and have checked the cost of HRT drugs to the NHS, and basically they're cheap as chip.

Puberty blockers aren't.

BigDeskBob · 26/04/2017 21:39

I'm not convinced about the big drug companies involvement either, but prescription for hrt did fall from 6.1 million in 2000 to 2.3 million in 2014. I think the percentage drop was similar around the world. The trans population isn't that big, but once started, they very often are on it for life. Its also talked about as a 'try it and see what you think if it' drug that is cheap and easy to get hold of. I don't know how much money the drug companies are making from selling hrt to trans, its not worth advertising it on TV, but its quite easy to find out where to buy it from.

Just looked at Alex Drummond

My husband has longer hair, a similar beard, wore lots of eye liner in the 1970s and 1980s and has been known to wear a skirt ( well a kilt)

He doesn't feel like a woman

He says he feels like a bloke - with long hair etc........

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 26/04/2017 20:05

On funding, Soros is an interesting case. He has previous form for interfering in a major way in public affairs - for instance when he was one of the key players in shorting Sterling so the UK had to leave the ERM as set out here. Of course, he didn't do it all by himself - as that article points out, tying Sterling to the German mark was a mistake. But he boasted publicly afterwards about having in effect forced a democratically elected government to change its economic policy because he'd manipulated the currency markets.

So it could be simple lust for power and narcissism driving him- it would fit with his previous actions.

There's a very good book called "Merchants of Doubt" about how multinationals influence public debate - it focuses mainly on big tobacco trying to manipulate debate on public health and cover up links to lung cancer, and oil companies paying for "think tanks" and astroturfing campaigns. I'm pretty sure similar tactics are being used here. The interesting question is cui bono? I know a lot of people have suggested that it's big pharma, but I remain unconvinced - I'm on HRT for menopause, and have checked the cost of HRT drugs to the NHS, and basically they're cheap as chip.

Maybe there's no end to the lengths some men will go to get their rocks off.
I think that TBH. As well as a) total disbelief that women aren't ruled by their sex drive and don't find their own bodies sexually arousing b) total incomprehension of what being female entails.
Today I thought I might just stop double flushing when I empty my mooncup in public loos. I bet a bit of blood left in the pan would put anyone in there with a sexual motive right off Grin

CharlieSierra · 26/04/2017 19:05

I find it hard to believe this is just about a small number of rich men who are turned on by the thought of themselves as women. I think it has to be more than that, maybe the drugs. Although to be fair I find the scale of organised child abuse utterly staggering too, so maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there's no end to the lengths some men will go to get their rocks off.

BBCNewsRave · 26/04/2017 18:21

Datun it makes me wonder how many of these people are incredibly rich and are pushing the agenda.

I wonder about the motivation. Getting cute kids on board to make people care? Regretting having gone through male puberty themselves? Wanting to create as many trans pople as possible to lend weight to their own claims? I suspect the main reason is to negate the argument over male vs female socialisation... then they can appropriate intersex some more - after all, most of us would feel quite differently about someone assumed to be female who discovers in their late teens, after investigations, that they are genetically male...

Henry I don't understand the fight to be called women they will never bare children, have periods or go through the menopause.

They could lower/stop their HRT and have a "menopause". Presumably they'd really enjoy the authenticity of it... Hmm

This is a picture of fallon fox and Tamika Brents. Fallon fox beat Tamika to the point of concussion, broken orbital bone and 7 staples in her skull.
Fallon has had full genital surgery and has been on female hormones for a long time. Yet - look at the difference in their physiques. Tamika is a powerful woman but stood no chance.

Cis labels

Caitlyn mentioned in an interview recently that the Olympics committee have researched it for decades & now have tests for such things as hormone levels. I'm not entirely sure what I think about that, though. I'm very undecided.

Yes they can test hormone levels. However someone who has gone through a male puberty will have advantages such as larger lung capacity and such. So even if T wasn't an issue, males still have an unfair advantage over females

HorridHenryrule · 26/04/2017 15:37

I think the older trans just want to get on with it they are much more accepting of who they are. I think todays trans don't want to be known as a trans woman they want to be called women. Men will never see them as women ever or other women they will always be known as trans ...

I don't understand the fight to be called women they will never bare children, have periods or go through the menopause. They will never have a man say to them when a woman is upset are you on love or I can always tell when you're on your period. The fight from trans women isn't to be accepted by women the fight is to be accepted by men. Thats what I think if I'm wrong then explain away.

If anyone is interested, there is a discussion on trans sport in the AIBU sub-forum right now.

The sport discussions annoy me intensely as some people seem to genuinely not see the problem with letting males compete against females. Even on hormones and such males have a advantage just how they are build. The only solution is either trans women do not compete, they compete against the males or a trans category is made. Its simply unfair on females to pit them against males, hence sex segregation in sports to being with Confused

Gallavich · 26/04/2017 15:25

The two women in my life who keep using cis are both over 50, but achingly right on LQBTQIASGFKGITUB folx

PhyllisNights · 26/04/2017 15:24

Yes, it does seem to be the post-op transwomen that don't bring up up trans unless it's mentioned to them in a conversation.

I know two trans women with appearances like Danielle Muscato. They're not living in women's shelters, and they haven't changed their names yet, but they do go by female pronouns and seem to shout the loudest about being PC with trans terminology and discussion.

If anyone is interested, there is a discussion on trans sport in the AIBU sub-forum right now.

WankingMonkey · 26/04/2017 14:24

Do we think that cis is a term that younger trans people seem to use?

Definitely seems to be the buzz-word for right on young libfems/trans. Yes.

Also the 2 transwomen I know do not ever discuss trans matters unless someone else brings something up then they are happy to talk...and find whats going on today crazy. Mind they are the people who would be 'truscum' to the transactivists and shouted down as transphobic themselves. Using MN terminology they are old-school homosexual transsexual people, both post-op also. I think this makes a difference. It always seems to be the 'lesbian' transwomen shouting the loudest about ridiculous things such as female penises and homosexuality being 'transphobic, though only ever homosexual females. homosexual males are not bothered by any of it and are not expected to perform cunnilingus of course. Nor is there a slur for men who do not believe trans ideology...'

Datun · 26/04/2017 14:22

venus

I've PM'd you by the way.

venusinscorpio · 26/04/2017 14:20

There are far more than 56 genders! Get with the program!

Datun · 26/04/2017 14:15

The constant labelling and pushing people into boxes is, I think, a fairly new phenomenon.

What with the 56 genders and all.

PhyllisNights · 26/04/2017 14:00

Do we think that cis is a term that younger trans people seem to use? My closest trans woman friend (who is in her 40s & has been trans for over 20 years) has never used it in all the years I've known her. In fact, she has never really discussed trans much further than acknowledging she is trans, telling me about her second surgery & being honest with men about it on Tinder.

The two youngest trans women I know seem to discuss nothing but trans. Constantly telling us to watch our language & seeming to take the most innocent comment out of context and blowing it up to be transphobic.

Pansiesandredrosesandmarigolds · 26/04/2017 13:29

Oh! As in Cisalpine Gaul.

That's rather neat.

Thanks HorridHenryRule.

Datun · 26/04/2017 13:26

I wish I'd been there wanking. The more people get called out on this the better.

I'm having an exhausting debate on another thread where someone said gender doesn't automatically equate to stereotypes. Like, what is it then? I guess we will be back to the it's some kind of internal essence.

WankingMonkey · 26/04/2017 13:22

I got into a real life argument about 'cis' last night. I almost missed what was being said as I always read it as 'sis' as in sister...when it is actually apparently pronounced 'seeeees'

Anyway, I was described as 'cis'. Noone has EVER asked me about my gender identity or anything. Apparently this has been decided for me as...I don't take hormones or have extreme surgeries? (I dress pretty 'blokey' normally, though I do have long hair, maybe thats what makes me 'cis') I wouldn't have even even slightly arsed if not for all the threads on here about it bringing it to my attention. I might actually be a friend (or rather associate..) down this morning as we haven't spoke yet. She did not take well to being told cis is a load of bollocks, there is no need for the word to be tacked onto female people just for other peoples feelings, nor that I am trans according to Stonewall. That I do not believe in 'gender identity'..think its just sex stereotypes + personality. And finally when she continued to publicly argue with me that I AM cis that she could shove her cis bullshit up her arse sideways. Most people watching this exchange didn't know wtf was going on (and this was in a gay bar...you would kind of expect LGBT people to be a bit more clued up on this trans stuff...unless they purposely ignore it I guess) so I explained to them that 'cis' basically means you are a walking stereotype. Like 20 people declared themselves to NOT be cis according to this definition, and the woman flounced off muttering something about transphobia. Which was amusing as there was actually a transwoman in our group at the time who was sniggering away at it allGrin

I am kind of starting to have fun with all of this. Even though I know its a serious topic overall.
