Women who face fucking misogyny all the time. No one cares. If it were "paralysing" we wouldn't ever do anything.

venusinscorpio · 04/04/2017 16:46

"Paralysing violence of the hate speech". Lord get a grip.

ScaredOnTheInside · 04/04/2017 16:17

Sorry datun here is a screenshot of the relevant post on that discussion page. Haven't ever tried to do a link to FB before, don't seem to be able to link to the post itself?

The amount of fawning women falling over themselves to apologise for the 'transphobic' comment and how they need to 'do better' is shocking. Initially when I heard about what happened at the event, I thought that something benign that was interpreted as transphobic had been said. But no, it turns out that Barbary Clark, a disabled lesbian, used her intersectional privilege (!) as an invited speaker to talk about the cotton ceiling or openly refer to transwomen colonising lesbianism. Three cheers for Barbary Wine

Another trans whine
WhereYouLeftIt · 04/04/2017 14:52

I'm a bit bemused at how whatever was said meant "the space became extremely unsafe for transfeminine folks and trans women." Now, short of 'I'm coming over there to kick your head in' or something similarly threatening, words can't make a space unsafe. Words can make me annoyed or angry or hurt my feelings, but they can't make me physically unsafe.

So if they didn't feel physically unsafe, what sort of unsafe did they feel? Unsafe in their identity? (Is their identity so fragile that words bring it crashing down?) Unsafe in not having everyone in the room's fawning adulation? (You're not Nelson Mandela.)

I have never understood what is really meant by 'safe spaces'. Are we talking 'safe from' or 'safe to'? I'm not sure the people who spout about them are clear on what they mean either. (I'm looking at you, students ...)

Datun · 04/04/2017 13:01

ScaredOnTheInside

Do you know what was actually said? I can't find it on the Facebook link and am getting so put off by misguided women falling over themselves to appease men at the expense of themselves.

The amount of "I'm sorry! So sorry. Did I say something wrong by mistake! I'm really sorry."

Ffs. Disagreeing with a man is such a failing in a woman.

ScaredOnTheInside · 04/04/2017 11:30

Here is a 'discussion' of the feminist meeting Iris refers to in her rant. Barbary Clark sounds like a splendid brave TERF but I can't find her on Facebook to send her a message congratulating her, unfortunately.

Note Iris making a plaintive comment criticising 'trans exclusive' comments at the event. Obviously these would be any comments referring to vaginas, motherhood, FGM, etc etc. Sooooo erasing!

Intersectional Feminists go mad

ChocChocPorridge · 01/04/2017 20:30

I couldn't get past the full page picture of him.

I've never seen that in a buzzfeed article - normally it's sensibly sized, or if full headers, they're illustrations.

I think a full page picture of yourself at the top of a whinging article about how people aren't doing what you want really says it all.

I do actually feel guilty about someone with the same name as me who was known by a shortening throughout her time at school with me (I was known by a nickname, a 3rd one of us, who was more popular, got the full name!) - speaking to her as an adult, it turns out she always hated the shortening as much as I did (and do) - but didn't feel brave enough to speak out (she does now, which is awesome of her!).

I do like JoshuWah though.. definitely better than Josh Grin

venusinscorpio · 01/04/2017 20:24

I think that's next for an amendment to the Equality Act, littlejeopardy. Take courage.

WhereYouLeftIt · 01/04/2017 20:17

goodpiemissedthechips Grin

littlejeopardy · 01/04/2017 20:14

I wish I had known sooner that I can claim identity erasure every time I get called the hated shortened version of my name instead of the full one. Can we arrest these unwanted nickname users for hate crimes?

hazeyjane · 01/04/2017 20:11

Sorry. Joshu(w)ah.

venusinscorpio · 01/04/2017 20:06

Joshua has given you constant reminders that their name is not Josh. Stop it please.

hazeyjane · 01/04/2017 19:23

I love this comment after Josh's 'life is so hard, call the wah-mbulance' article.

Stop trying to bend reality to fit your delusions.

goodpiemissedthechips · 01/04/2017 19:13

Why are there so many people in this generation who can't see past themselves? Who are so self-absorbed and believing that the world should revolve around them and their whims?

I think it's partly related to the rise of relatively reliable birth control and the resulting smaller families that we tend to see. We have had an ageing population for the past however long am too lazy to look it up and as a result all of us parents are able to give a lot more attention to our 2.3 kids and cater to their needs more. That's great of course, but I think the combination of that plus not having other adults dare to keep you in line when you're out and about and messing around has probably not been overly good for society as a whole.

Please don't jump on me with actual facts Grin. I'm just trying to vaguely articulate my thoughts on this while rushing up and down the stairs trying to sort out my own two kids who are fighting rather than sleeping. See, if I had eight and was busy with a baby right now, I'd scream at them to shut the fuck up instead of trying to listen to each child's side of the story and pacify them both!

venusinscorpio · 01/04/2017 18:50

Telepathy and everyone else walking on eggshells around them permanently is exactly what they expect. It's pure narcissism.

WhereYouLeftIt · 01/04/2017 17:27

"My transition story is one you might not have heard of yet. For me, transition is not a linear one-way direction with a beginning, middle and ending. I will likely never arrive at the end of my transition. My gender is fluid and my sexed body shifts with my gender identity and expression."
Well - if you're ever-changing, what do you expect of the people around you - telepathy?

"We are neither men or women and we are not going away." Well if you are not a woman, why are you resentful about not getting funding that has been reserved for women, and why are you expecting feminism to sort all this out for you?

Why are there so many people in this generation who can't see past themselves? Who are so self-absorbed and believing that the world should revolve around them and their whims? And who want to go to the extremes just to make that point of how fucking special they are? Are they all just so frightened of their mediocrity that they make this shit up?

goodpiemissedthechips · 01/04/2017 13:32

Or referring to me as Josh despite my constant reminders that my name is Joshua.

I would seriously and earnestly entreat Joshua to never visit Australia Grin

What confuses me (or to be honest it doesn't) is why Joshua is on at feminists for excluding or erasing non-binary people? Surely the criticism could just as easily be levelled at, say, MRAs? Or the armed forces? Or men's sports teams?

Bambambini · 01/04/2017 12:45

"sorry to hear that everythingburrito it is really annoying - but it is a straightforward silencing tactic to get dissenters off Twitter, so they can promote their illogical, unhinged and dangerous agenda without needing to explain it [and in so doing expose it for the illogical, unhinged and dangerous rubbish that it is]."

That's why they block and not only block but have mass blockings of ANYONE who might question. Need to leep the echo chamber and that way the likes of Willoughby can pretend that only a few rabid bigots have any issues with this. Now Willoughby has pissed off the trans communit big time, will be interesting to see who will actually be left to speak to on their twitter feed to make it all fluffy and sparkly.

Bambambini · 01/04/2017 12:35

"Sadly I have heard this supported by WOC - (at least fairly convincingly claiming to be online) - who say they understand the whole feeling of 'trying to pass' as white and how this is what it is like as trans. sad"

Plenty of gender critical black women on Lipstick Alley and they don't take prisoners when it comes to in their opinions on trans activism and the likes of Mock and Cox.

BetsyM00 · 01/04/2017 12:28

He starts by saying, "A few weeks ago, I was erased for about the thousandth time."

And yet he is still here, still writing such drivel. Couldn't quite manage to read to the end.

Datun · 01/04/2017 12:23

I do not have a static sense of my body...

Said a man.

Nellooo · 01/04/2017 12:14

So Joshua says:

"My gender is fluid and my sexed body shifts with my gender identity and expression"

Yet is also complaining that there is no access to women's arts grants for people like him Hmm

MorrisZapp · 01/04/2017 11:46

Oh Josh. 'People keep calling me Josh but my name is Joshua' Grin

Why indeed aren't non binary female presenting film makers and indigos who use the pronoun 'they' and dabble in magic more visible?

Beats me Josh. There should be one on Eastenders and two on Holby shouldn't there. I mean it's only fair.

Barcoo2 · 01/04/2017 11:39

Dear oh dear.

"I'm not a woman or a man waaah I take selfies all day waaah the feminists don't include me me me me waaaaah"

I just couldn't finish reading it. What self obsessed drivel.
