Looks like an interesting watch, that does not just accept the trans children or they will kill themselves rhetoric. I just hope the BBC actually do show it and aren't bullied into not showing it.

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b088kxbw

The blurb:

Around the world there has been a huge increase in the number of children being referred to gender clinics - boys saying they want to be girls and vice versa. Increasingly, parents are encouraged to adopt a 'gender affirmative' approach - fully supporting their children's change of identity. But is this approach right?

In this challenging documentary, BBC Two's award-winning This World strand travels to Canada, where one of the world's leading experts in childhood gender dysphoria (the condition where children are unhappy with their biological sex) lost his job for challenging the new orthodoxy that children know best. Speaking on TV for the first time since his clinic was closed, Dr Kenneth Zucker believes he is a victim of the politicisation of transgender issues. The film presents evidence that most children with gender dysphoria eventually overcome the feelings without transitioning and questions the science behind the idea that a boy could somehow be born with a 'female brain' or vice versa. It also features 'Lou' - who was born female and had a double mastectomy as part of transitioning to a man. She now says it is a decision that 'haunts' her and feels that her gender dysphoria should have been treated as a mental health issue.

All of this stuff is what gets termed the "trans juggernaut" - the funding, the transing of kids, the hijacking of lesbians' and gay men's culture and politics, the redefinition of women, the online brainwashing plus harassment for resisters and desisters, the appropriation of intersexuality, homosexuality, girlhood and womanhood, the transing of male criminals and violence, the concealment of autogynephilia etc. It is foul, utterly foul, all of it

Perfectly expressed.

QueenLaBeefah · 15/01/2017 11:43

Agree. The whole trans movement feels like a religion. Most religions like to recruit them young (and gullible).

Miffer · 15/01/2017 11:41

Empress

That Huntley thing seems like a load of shite to me. Their source is a fellow 'lag'.

I am sick of the whole trans issue, sick of talking about it, sick of reading it. I have reached peakpeak trans. Not because I think it doesn't matter but because the problems are so self evident and those on the 'other side' are so delusional it's beginning to feel like arguing with Christians over the reality of God..... you know what that's not true. Christians will claim faith, they wont claim science supports them.

Milliepede · 15/01/2017 11:36

I have only recently joined MN becuase it is one of the few places that allows criticism of trans ideology. I was an avid Guardian reader but couldn't stomach the " brave and inspiring" celebratory trans articles that are published with alarming regularity.
I really hope that the BBC2 doc will make people closely examine and start to question the current trans orthodoxy. I'm sick of trans.

ISaySteadyOn · 15/01/2017 11:25

I watched it yesterday. I thought Warner was heartbreaking. Doing cartwheels, having long hair, wearing dresses...none of that is exclusive to girls, no reason Warner couldn't do that as a boy. And when Warner mixed up the sex Warner wanted to be, it rang alarm bells for me.

And that therapist was creepy as f*. The music deep inside being precise? No, that is not what precise means.

All in all, I thought it was a very good documentary though I can see why TRAs object to it (enough rope to hang themselves and all that).

Beefah, I no longer believe in the LGB community.

Has anyone else seen the Daily Star's front page this morning, re rumours of Ian Huntley wanting to move to a women's prison?

www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/578439/ian-huntley-sex-change-child-murderer-women-prison

QueenLaBeefah · 15/01/2017 11:18

Transing of children is gay eugenics and I just hope the LGB community wake up and see the damage they are doing to themselves.

Tartle · 15/01/2017 10:59

I thought the Rupert Everett stuff was really interesting in that article HamletsSister. I mean it sounds as if he was totally persistent until suddenly he wasn't. It seems so obvious that it is the act of going through puberty that is a massive factor in desisting for many GNC young people and that puberty blockers mean that they never get the chance to reach a developmental stage where they can understand themselves and the full implications of their decisions.

Beachcomber · 15/01/2017 10:52

Prawnofthepatriarchy, totally agree with what you say about LGBQT organisations having time, money and a need for a new cause. And what you say about the transing of children and historical figures in order to mount a "born that way/always been around = naturally occurring phenomenon that is unquestionable" offensive.

And let's face it, a large cohort of the Queer community are straight white men - they do not have the interests of lesbians or even gay men at heart and they are genderists (otherwise they have nothing to queer).

It is foul, utterly foul, all of it.

Surely the wider public is going to wake up to the madness soon. I pray that the transing of gay children will be their downfall and that the LGB people will drop them like the homophobic hot brick they are.

I think we need a documentary which explains to the wider public that transgenderists are not old fashioned transsexuals. This is an entirely different beast, although what they are doing to children is transsexualism and am shocked to my core how many people well meaningly support it. The boys at guides thread on here made for chilling reading what all the transing of a gender dysphoric child by people who know neither the child nor the damage done by socially transing a child - which was exactly what they were participating in on that thread. Lots of posters were ignorantly socially transing a child and implying that anyone who didn't was a bigot and a hater.

Where and when will it all end?!

Datun · 15/01/2017 09:59

There was a trans-woman on here a while back who was happy to engage. She said that identifying as a woman allowed her to be more 'vibrant'.

Maybe if she acted vibrantly as a man she would get a different reaction than if she did so as a woman. Despite most people realising that she was in fact a man.

Claiming to be a woman legitimised her 'vibrancy'.

2rebecca · 15/01/2017 09:48

I stopped reading the Guardian as regularly as i used to because I was disappointed with the way it didn't question the sexual stereotyping of the trans brigade and the idea that you could be a gentle man who doesn't like football without it meaning you are female.
For me the issue doesn't look at what practical difference saying you are the opposite sex actually makes to your life. Apart from the skirts, sparkles and make up thing which is very superficial and just "dressing up" even for women what do these men feel they can achieve in life as a woman that they can't as a man.
I was glad to see the male and female brain theory being rejected.
Adult women don't play with dolls and boys used to play with dolls too. My brother played with my barbies along with his action men and I used to play with his meccano.
I strongly feel you should be able to express your personality, ambitions and desires without having surgery, taking hormones and saying you are the opposite sex. If a man was "really" a woman he would have xx chromosomes. So often it seems to be something fixated on as a magic wand to teenage existentialist angst. "If a was a woman it would all be OK" not really reflecting on what exactly is going to change in their life.

Transgenderreality is a site originally set up to help parents of questioning teens after they have become sucked in online.

It makes for very disturbing reading and they mention they will give tips on 'deprogramming'. I've had a look, but I can't find the section on Tips, except to say keep your child away from the Internet. Which, in your case, doesn't help.

However they do document quite clearly the way young people become, as you call it 'brainwashed'.

All I can suggest, is you keep the lines of communication open as much as possible between you and your son and maybe look at the site together. If he has a questioning or analytical nature, he might be able to see a correlation between what is happening to him, and what the online agenda looks like when it is exposed and analysed.

There seem to be precious few resources for parents like you, which is scandalous. However there are several parents in your position on these forums who you might be able to PM for advice.

I am so relieved that MNHQ is no longer censoring these kinds of threads. This is one of the few places we can talk about this.

Wonder why the change of heart has happened? I suppose the number of people expressing concerns about the trans issue reached a sort of critical mass point over the past couple of years, making it harder for MNHQ to close discussion down. Also, I wonder if some of the MNHQ Powers That Be have changed their mind or at least started to ponder a bit?

user1484455234 · 15/01/2017 08:30

My thoughts exactly, he seems to have been brainwashed and I don't know what to do

BertrandRussell · 15/01/2017 08:30

And I found that throwaway remark that some parents would find it much more acceptable to have a "fixable" trans child than to have a gay child quite chilling. I'd like to hear more about that.

BertrandRussell · 15/01/2017 08:28

And no hint of a question about the long term effects of hormone treatment. I find it utterly bizarre that nobody is asking that question.

BertrandRussell · 15/01/2017 08:27

I've just watched the programme, and I was shocked at the gender stereotyping- all that Barbie/glitter/princess/make up stuff.

I can't see why the trans lobby was so upset by it- there was hardly any questioning of the current orthodoxy. And no real examination of what Zuker actually did to get fired.

DameDeDoubtance · 15/01/2017 08:26

user - if you look through topics there is a topic for lgbt children, start a thread there as well. What concerns me is that your son has been solely influenced by outside forces, this is why t is nothing like being gay or bi and more like a cult. The trans agenda needs trans children ,just like they are transing dead lesbians as they need trans history.

Keep posting and good luck. Smile

SweetGrapes · 15/01/2017 08:22

Oh wow! Prawn - that explains a lot! I was wondering where the resources were coming from for such a quick change.... Women have struggled to achieve step by step for so long and the trans movement seems to have just steamrolled along....

user1484455234 · 15/01/2017 08:09

Thank you for responding, yes I found 4th Wave and actually started breathing again, my head is in turmoil, not slept - again - been like since since he told me.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 15/01/2017 07:23

P.S. If you change your username to something more distinctive than user(insert very long number) it makes it possible for other posters to remember who you are which is very helpful in discussions.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 15/01/2017 07:20

I can't post a long reply but you sound so worried I felt I couldn't just read and run. Will have a better go later.

Was going to suggest you posted in LGBT children but I see you've done that. Several parents of gender confused children post here so you'll find help.

There are a number of websites put up by parents in your position. Have you looked at 4th Wave Now, a website run by parents fighting the gender cult?

There's loads of helpful reading there. I'm half asleep, late night, but will try to be more helpful later. I'm sorry you're so worried. Flowers

I am new to this website but need to reach out and ask for help/advice particularly on this thread. My 20 (almost 21) year old dyspraxic son announced over Christmas that he is trans. He has asked me to call him by his new preferred name and use the pronoun "she" or "they". This has come as a huge shock as he has never shown any inclination in this way until he met up with some individuals both at university and via online forums. I do not know how to respond to this revelation and recently watched the BBC Transgender Kids programme - subsequently have done significant surfing and found this whole topic to be full of contradictions and terrifying narratives from both sides of the continuum. I am now even more confused as I know the child I gave birth to is very gullible, vulnerable and easily manipulated - what should I do? Help please

todayitstarts · 14/01/2017 23:56

Thanks Prawn.
