For all the Spartacuses. Have a laugh on me

I couldn't read past the first few paragraphs. Skimmed down, spotted several buzz words, cisnormative being one of them, 2legit, and started to lose the will to live. Great parody, Seek.

Can't believe that about your daughter, Blueisnot. I'd be wild if it was me.

Datun · 22/11/2016 23:15

Seek

It's so ripe for the plucking. Pluck 'em.

AmeliaJack · 22/11/2016 23:07

You see what I find interesting is that nowhere in that article did the author take the opposite tack that "men aren't 50%" of the population either.

Nowhere did he say that men's conversations about themselves need to be shut down and subject to newspeak.

Just womens'.

But he's a feminist apparently.

?

Datun · 22/11/2016 23:03

The pope may not be able to dictate that

But his boss sure can

Smile
Mrsfrumble · 22/11/2016 23:02

It's just so much quibbling over semantics, isn't it?

It's an indisputable fact that 50 % of the world's population is born with a vagina. And shouldn't be discriminated against because of it.

That's all there's is to it, isn't there?

And don't get me started on being "assigned gender at birth". Once again, that's just a statement on which set of genitals an infant has. It's all the socially constructed crap that comes after that causes the problem. So why aren't people like the author of that godawful bollocks article fighting against said socially constructed crap, rather than just reinforcing it?

Shallishanti · 22/11/2016 22:50

submit yes!!
pleeeease!!
maybe change a few words in case they have some plagiarising type software

titchy · 22/11/2016 22:25

Male privilege. The gift that keeps on giving...

Geretrude · 22/11/2016 22:23

Blueisnotforglue - shit that's awful! Have you spoken to the school?

EF = everyday mansplaining. Honestly, if you look at their articles, 99% of them are about trans or intersex people. Poor intersex people, being co-opted onto the trans juggernaut

DeviTheGaelet · 22/11/2016 22:12

Everyday feminism is batshit. I can't even understand half of it. I have to kind of squint with my brain to get it to make sense.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/11/2016 21:48

Logically correct though...No power in heaven or earth can dictate that... short of an actual miracle to create the prerequisite condition. Which presumably wasn't the intended point.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 22/11/2016 21:36

The pope may not be able to dictate that

But his boss sure can

Grin
shinynewusername · 22/11/2016 21:32

I second Datun. You've got to submit that to EF, seek. What's the point of having a satire superpower, if you don't use it for evil? Wink

Amalfimamma · 22/11/2016 21:08

rufus swear to God. When I saw it I had to read it a few times because I thought I'd gone mad.

Then my fottosofatfosm to them was liberating 😂

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer

I know petal. Otherwise I'd have told you to fuck off.

as I have a mtf on twitter who says the Pope can't dictate if she aborts or not 🙂

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 22/11/2016 19:37

Aahhh love

I was joking...thats why i put the Grin at the end

Sad
grumpyfeminist · 22/11/2016 19:13

I could laugh about it if I didn't think young women looking for answers about the shit hand they've been dealt weren't landing on it from google.

Amalfimamma · 22/11/2016 19:06

Rufus

I did say in the OP that it was for a laugh.

Or am I the only one who equals laugh with EF ? Hmm

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 22/11/2016 19:06

When I talked to women about this article, a complaint that we talked about most often was that the phrase “women are half the world’s population” was problematic simply because it lumped all women together – as if their issues were universal, and their experiences largely the same

It really isn't saying that-all it is saying is roughly 50% of the world's population has xx chromosomes.

Datun · 22/11/2016 19:04

seek

Please submit that to EF. Please present as trans, write a regular piece and get more and more outlandish. Lift the lid. Please. That was spot on I had to AS your NN to check.

grumpyfeminist · 22/11/2016 18:54

Is Everyday Feminism actually written by MRAs? Seems to "centre" everyone except actual women (the biological kind). I can't help feeling it's really poorly judged satire by a US college frat house or similar. I folded before the first numbered point. I could see 'cisnormative' in my peripheral vision and had an involuntary FFS! window close reaction.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 22/11/2016 18:53

amal

Hmm a heads up next time ...i read a few paragraphs and thought "i recognise this shit...its everyday feminism" Grin

Dont have much to say about the article except that i have wiped more interesting and insightful things off my arse

I am glad that my children seem to have dodged this in their school, i am all for openess and there are a few children who seem to be transitioning but the school doesnt seem to be "pushing" the issue, just being very accepting

seek you should send that in to everyday bollocks...sorry feminism. You got that spot on

Blueisnotforglue · 22/11/2016 18:39

I got lost about two paragraphs into that.

In real life my daughters citizenship class is currently learning about transgender people.

There is a big poster on the wall with FEMALE/NOT SURE/MALE on the wall and they were all invited to write their name down where they felt it should go. At ELEVEN. This follows on from watching Corey's story? The YouTube video about the MTF child.
