Many have said they are suffering by association with the wackiness of the TRAs. Some have said they have been quite happy using the accessible toilets, and now feel they are being urged to use the ladies, as a political point. The trans activists claims that they ARE women, the appropriation of womanhood and the insistence on entry into women's spaces are going to produce an backlash. Genuine trans people will get caught in the crossfire.

I don't blame them for not getting involved, I just wish we had a more unified voice.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/11/2016 23:24

The Hmmwas only meant to relate to the second sentence, to be clear.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/11/2016 23:23

Not all protest has to be via public forums, they can write to their MPs. I expect TAs are.Hmm

shinynewusername · 23/11/2016 23:10

The trutrans need to stand up and say not in our name, in my opinion

I think that's harsh. They have a lot more to lose than most of us. I bet most posters who are vocal on here find it difficult to be openly GC in real life. I know I do, because I could lose my job. If it is hard for us as women, even though many women would be on our side, it must be much harder for trans people who would be treated as traitors by their own community. People like Miranda who will say the unsayable are incredibly brave, but I'm not surprised they are a tiny minority.

Shallishanti · 23/11/2016 23:08

well, let's see Oleanna- are you a woman?
if yes, well yes, you probably ARE doing feminism all wrong
not to mention womanhood

shinynewusername · 23/11/2016 23:06

Prawn I have a horrible feeling you're right that society won't hit peak trans till the generation of young teens being harmed by TA ideology grows up to bear witness.

I can't believe there is so little protest from gay men about the homophobia inherent in branding "effeminate" men as "born in the wrong body" and encouraging them to have mutilating surgery. I hear lesbians protesting but gay men seem to be still all swigging the Kool Aid - with twats like Owen Jones cheerleading for the TAs.

OlennasWimple · 23/11/2016 22:04

I don't have a nose ring - am I doing feminism wrong? Sad

venusinscorpio · 23/11/2016 21:52

I agree Datun. They do need to stand up. Otherwise I consider them hostile, not allies.

Datun · 23/11/2016 21:28

IF transgenderism had any kind of credibility or scientific basis there would be ZERO people detransitioning.

Datun · 23/11/2016 21:26

Prawn

I just hope peak trans isn't too long in coming. Given the rocketing number of children and teenagers coming out as trans, I suspect it's this issue that may prove the tipping point.

I couldn't agree more. When a 12-year-old is sterilised in the name of inclusivity, there are going to be some very angry people.

But I can't help being pissed off, that women's rights weren't listened to. However, if it lifts the lid, then it's all good.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 23/11/2016 19:42

What a load of pretentious twaddle in article in op

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 23/11/2016 19:33

You're right, Datun. The trans who don't agree with this shit need to make their voices heard. After all, if the tide turns and the trans lobby stop getting it all their own way, it's they who will suffer.

I started off very tolerant, but I've been on quite some journey. I've reached the point now where I'm prepared to campaign against transwomen in any female only space because I've learnt that if you give TRAs an inch they'll take a sparkly pink mile.

I just hope peak trans isn't too long in coming. Given the rocketing number of children and teenagers coming out as trans, I suspect it's this issue that may prove the tipping point.

The demand that any male who feels womanly even temporarily should have unchallenged access to women's spaces is guaranteed to lead to a sharp rise in attacks on women and girls. However we know from bitter experience that this isn't considered a priority. Raped in the changing room? Tough luck.

However when it comes to young adults who emerge from their adolescent dysphoria to the appalled realization that they are mutilated and sterile, I think the world will sit up and take notice. This, I suspect, will cause a lot of reevaluation and soul-searching.

Amandahugandkisses · 23/11/2016 19:27

The way the TA respond to any challenge of their identity is classic textbook narcissistic rage.

Datun · 23/11/2016 18:53

The thing is prawn, 10 minutes on the line shows you all you need to know. I don't understand how Maria Miller could've missed it.

The trutrans need to stand up and say not in our name, in my opinion.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 23/11/2016 17:10

I take your point, Amanda. The longer I spend looking at this issue the clearer it becomes that while there are plenty of transmen and dysphoric transwomen who just want to live in peace, there's a significant majority of MTTs, the ones who pursue the extremist political agenda, who are dramatically narcissistic and couldn't be more male socialized. These are the AGPs, the cotton ceiling proponents. They have more in common with MRAs than women.

This group are very strongly motivated to promote and normalise transing children, because it ties in with the "born this way" narrative. This matters to them because it is used to conceal the fact that the true motives of AGPs and trans "lesbians" are based in fetish and kink, which aren't quite so socially acceptable. If this is pointed out they go batshit, but it's no secret. Spend some time lurking on the Reddit sub r/asktransgender or, better yet, search the archive for likely words (panties is a good one) and it all comes tumbling out. Sure there are many transwomen who "just wanna pee" but there are others whose motivation for intruding into women only spaces is powerfully erotic. This group will never accept gender neutral facilities.

Amandahugandkisses · 23/11/2016 16:12

If I narcissistic personality is not an innate part of transgenderism, I'll eat my hat.

This article... I would love to start a satire EF site where we could all contribute articles. Maybe a WordPress blog. Like everyday obedience in Twitter just more comprehensive.

ChocChocPorridge · 23/11/2016 16:06

Amal, well, just like my kids, your child is both special and unique.. and boys..

This is the thing isn't it - by the time a lot of women and men are the other side of 30, we can be even more certain of ourselves, without a DNA test, because we've reproduced - and, apart from this person www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2190741/ that means we definitely know we are XX women/XY men

Can't be 50% of the population are menstruators - most women spend most of their lives not menstruating (pre-pubescent, pregnant, post-menopause)

Amalfimamma · 23/11/2016 15:27

All this "assigned at birth" business. I've asked some TAs and they've refused to answer.

I had DNA testing at 12 weeks, because of some problems. They were able to tell me it was a boy. Is my child special? Or unique? Or does science trump feelings ?

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 23/11/2016 14:59

The only people who are in any sense 'assigned at birth' are intersex people. It is the baby's sex which is observed and recorded. Because thats a real medically observable thing. If you had a amnio, and asked to be told, you'd unambiguously know before the birth - I knew my baby was a girl, presumably her sex was recorded at that point. Maybe they should take a quick look at every newborn's chromosome 23. It would presumably help to more accurately 'assign' and get early diagnosis for intersex kids, so on those grounds surely everyone should agree its a good thing?

LadySaladinForge · 23/11/2016 13:32

'And more importantly, it doesn’t include trans women. Since this is a percentage that relies on assignment at birth, we’re inherently excluding transgender women – who have a different birth assignment – in favor of propping up cisgender women'

Yes. Because they are men. Ffs.

Amalfimamma · 23/11/2016 13:06

Whichoneofyoudidthat

You'll be called a transphobe for that comment. 51% of the worlds population is actually made up of mentruaters

We can't call men ejaculators either, they should be called inseminators because apparently women can ejaculate as well now the world according to dickheads on twitter

OP posts:
slug · 23/11/2016 12:42

Yes, Whichoneofyoudidthat, but you have to realise that the only women that count, the best women, the real women are the ones that were born with a penis. /s

Whichoneofyoudidthat · 23/11/2016 11:40

I hate to be pedantic but aren't women 51% of the world's population?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 23/11/2016 08:56

Glad people smiled! Tempting as it would be, I can't be trolling EF - but as Grumpy says above, it's very worrying that this is what young girls will find out there if they're trying to read more about feminism Sad
