Call yourself a feminist? Our transgender columnist Juno Dawson's here to see if you really pass the test

And calls women who don't "TERFs". Thanks, Glamour and Jo Elvin, thanks a lot.

Lynda, is your shit not all sparkly and glittery and smelling of Chanel No 5? You are obviously not a real woman!!!

I cancelled my Glamour subscription over this tool. The first article on how women have it easy because they don't have the difficulty of choosing their own name. Now obviously being harassed in the streets because I happen to have breasts, being assaulted in clubs because I left the house in possession of a vagina, being told to stop being difficult because I was asking for pain relief whilst pushing a person out of said vagina is obviously nothing compared to having to choose your own fucking name. Oh and the editor didn't give a shit when I emailed to point out why I would never buy their magazine again.

TheHiphopopotamus · 04/11/2016 20:59

Just had a look at Glamour's Twitter account. Whoever is running that today is really not doing themselves or the magazine any favours.

I know I'm only one person, but there's absolutely no way I'll be buying that rag again.

MrsJamin · 04/11/2016 20:59

I have never seen my mum in makeup, would totally freak me out! She gave me advice on pregnancy, periods, breastfeeding, you know, women stuff! I'm just astounded that Glamour believe and stand by Juno and are happy to piss all over hundreds of women who are tweeting and "liking" the tweets saying that Terf is a slur. I do wonder whether this is an intentional act by Glamour to shed the older readers of Glamour and satisfy new younger female readers who seem to think this article is "wonderful".

Wearing make up has nothing to do with being a woman. It's an optional extra for everyone. Take David Bowie and Grayson Perry for example - both big fans of make up but with their heads screwed on enough to know that that does NOT make them a woman.

I am a huge make up fan and am never without it - that makes me no more or less of a woman than any other woman. It's pathetic and deeply insulting that some people think all there is to being a woman is make up, nails, heels and campy hand gestures

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 04/11/2016 20:56

Glamour is certainly starting to come across like the staff hate women. Ho hum...

DrudgeJedd · 04/11/2016 20:54

Wonder if Juno is getting their legal advice about libel from their barista too Lynda

JoantheVampireSlayer · 04/11/2016 20:52

Those of us who can't get pregnant - less of a woman?

What the fuck?!
Is he suggesting that his experience as a male human with absolutely no possibility of pregnancy (but presumably the ability to father a child) is in any way comparable to the crushing agony of infertility??
That article made me feel sick, the ignorance, the misogyny, the arrogance and clear male entitlement... Angry

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 04/11/2016 20:51

These people seek to reduce women to a set of stereotypical behavioural tics (obsession with appearance, ludicrous parodies of "feminine" modes of speech etc). The fact they find such a willing audience I'm afraid indicates that our wider culture is entirely comfortable with this. God forbid we should ever have to think of women as serious human beings.
But that is the irony of the trans agenda. It does not challenge traditional thinking about gender at all. It supports and promotes it.

BratFarrarsPony · 04/11/2016 20:46

that Twitter profile pic gives me the rage.
As though real women sit around doing campy things with their hands ,,,,,,
I have news for him - he looks like a drag queen.

LyndaNotLinda · 04/11/2016 20:45

His feminist make up tips include cosmetic surgery - as recommended by his barista. Because those are absolutely the sort of conversations women have with baristas. Hmm

QueenLaBeefah · 04/11/2016 20:43

My grandma (dead for over 30yrs) told me to get an education; have my own bank account and an escape fund. I genuinely can't remember her ever wearing makeup.

Trans women love makeup because it helps them pass. Their worst nightmare would be if women just stopped wearing makeup

OlennasWimple · 04/11/2016 20:39

I'd managed to banish that batshit crazy patronising make up article from my memory, but of course it's the same author

Maybe Juno's libel lawyer could also advise on the use of misogynistic hate terms at the same time?

BratFarrarsPony · 04/11/2016 20:36

ooh careful Annie he might have 'screen grabbed' you.

shins · 04/11/2016 20:35

Oh yeah, I love and wear make-up. But the wisdom my female relatives passed to their daughters was stuff about surviving in a man's world; always earn your own money or have a secret stash just in case, never let a man mistreat you and so on. He has zero insight into genuine feminist wisdom because he has NO idea what being a woman is about. The arrogance is breathtaking.

HermioneWeasley · 04/11/2016 20:35

I really hope Juno spends a lot of money on legal advice and court fees. I'm not sure one firm is enough to consult - I'd recommend he sees lots. Of really expensive firms, that way you're getting the best advice.

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 04/11/2016 20:34

That make up article makes me feel sick. What a grotesque parody of female experience these people peddle. It disgusts me.

Cocolepew · 04/11/2016 20:33

Found them, I've been busy with the likes 👍Grin

ArcheryAnnie · 04/11/2016 20:33

Wow, Juno is now making vague legal threats on twitter to women who have called out this bullshit.

Well done, Juno! Off you trot to your lawyer!

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/11/2016 20:31

As a woman who actually really likes make up (bad feminist I know) and considers it both a hobby and an art - I still say Juno can fuck right off.

Passed from generation to generation indeed. Aye, right. My mum didn't teach me a thing about makeup, neither did any other female relatives. My DD might learn about it from me in the same way she learns about other things I enjoy, not because it's some female wisdom she needs to learn.

shins · 04/11/2016 20:26

www.the-pool.com/beauty/beauty-honestly/2016/35/juno-dawson-on-discovering-the-sisterhood-of-make-up

This fucker is everywhere. A short while ago he was explaining that feminism is make-up. Prick.

TheCompanyOfCats · 04/11/2016 20:25

I'm cancelling my subscription today. I've had enough of this crap.

HermioneWeasley · 04/11/2016 20:23

Alsô loving the comments - yeah for uppity women!

Juno can fuck off with his mansplaining. Hope he's watching this thread

I wonder how many TW buy Glamour? Why do they have such contempt for the women who pay their salaries?

MrsJamin · 04/11/2016 20:22

this complaint to Glamour is bloody marvellous

OP posts:
Cocolepew · 04/11/2016 20:21

I can't see the comments Confused

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/11/2016 20:19

I wonder what Glamour will do with them?

Probably commission a story about how they were appalled at the Transphobic bigotry they witnessed in response to this amazing, brave WOMAN and how they are proud to stand with transwomen.

i.e. buy our rag please transwomen, cos real women buy Glamour magazine.
