hmmm. ok so its daily mail reporting but I am conflicted
perhaps good if child was being pushed into something he wasnt
but wtf with the boringly stereotypical insistance on the type of toys played with

Hope the child at the centre of this case gets to live his life in the way he wants to. While I agree children develop personalities from a very young age I cannot see for the life of me how a 4 year old would know he wanted to be a girl rather than a boy? I remember wanting to have a willy when my little brother was born but that didn't mean I wanted to be a boy! Playing with dolls or liking pink does not mean he identifies as a girl! Reading the full judgement it would seem the judge has done the very best thing for j and that is to be with his dad and being allowed to develop his own personality. Hopefully he will live a happy life as
whatever gender he wants and his mother will get the help she needs.

Hanora - you haven't offended me with your transphobic slurs - as a regular on these threads, I'm used to it :)

I do think it's offensive to dismiss the parents of trans* YP who have written eloquently and movingly about their children as transphobic because they don't agree that children taking hormone blockers or having irreversible surgery is a good idea.

But then you are a pom-pom waver for an organisation which is supporting a parent who has had their child taken away because they were abusing them so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

DeviTheGaelet · 04/11/2016 12:06

The graph shown is indicitive of heterosexual male assaults
WTF does sexuality its have to do with this?

Soubriquet · 04/11/2016 11:59

womyn

Hmm
Prawnofthepatriarchy · 04/11/2016 11:56

Plus there's evidence that serious offenders in prison are announcing that they're trans for very nasty motives. Can't provide the link easily as on my phone but would be surprised if someone else hasn't got it to hand.

CoteDAzur · 04/11/2016 11:55

"As someone who worked for over twenty years with persistent sex offenders and violent criminals I am very aware that."men" commit the higher rate of sexual and violent offences but as I consider a transgender womyn to be a womyn then to me she is just that a womyn. She is no more likely to be going into a womyn's toilet with thought of sexual assault than I am."

Is this a joke? How and where did you work with sex offenders for 20 years (no less) that you didn't learn how to write the word women?

I know it's not good form to pull someone up on their spelling but FFS it is the one important word you should be familiar with if you really worked with sex offenders even for one day.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 04/11/2016 11:55

MTT are very good at holding onto the bit of maleness that tells women how they should be and what constitutes a woman

but at the same time not being able to define exactly what constitutes "woman" (other than sounding like a petulant three year old demanding that "cos I sez so" is a good enough reason to hand over the biscuit tin).

In all the very many threads on MN about this, not one single person has been able to say what it is about me that makes me a woman AND is the same thing about a MTT that makes them a woman too.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 04/11/2016 11:54

Actually there's an alarming number of people who qualify as trans these days who have been convicted of rape and other violent crimes against women, Hanora. It's not as if it's hard to find lists of these dangerous offenders.

ageingrunner · 04/11/2016 11:51

Yy Demented. I'm wondering if Hanora has seen the post? Smile

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/11/2016 11:51

Hanora

  1. Studies have shown that MtT commit crime at the same rate as males, and that FtT commit crime at a higher rate than females. journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0016885 This means that MtT pose exactly the same risk to women as males do. As a population group males (including MtT) pose a risk to females. This is why we have sex segregated spaces
  1. Women often feel intimidated when men invade their spaces, whether or not that specific male is a threat. This is another reason we have sex segregated spaces. Generally speaking MtT do not pass, so will cause the same alarm.
ageingrunner · 04/11/2016 11:50

Can you please tell me how to tell fake trans from real trans when I'm in a confined space Hanora? Tia

DementedUnicorn · 04/11/2016 11:50

* BUT HOW DO WE TELL THE DIFFERENCE HANORA? HOW DO WE KNOW WHO IS A PERV IN A DRESS AND WHO IS GENUINELY TRANS?*

I have been following this thread throughout but delurked to echo this question. And it is an important question that the trans community constantly belittle or ignore.

Hanora50 · 04/11/2016 11:46

LyndaNotLinda...sorry that you find my post to ATM offensive but I find many, many of the posts here offensive and actually anti trans so really I am going to respond with that in mind.

ageingrunner · 04/11/2016 11:45

The above is a really well put together factual video about men who dressed in female clothes expressly for the purpose of getting into women's spaces and attacking them. It's pretty harrowing but perhaps worth watching for those who don't accept that concerns are genuine

venusinscorpio · 04/11/2016 11:43

No Hanora, sweetie, I'd like to see what evidence you have that transwomen, as a subset of biological men, are less violent than other biological men, thanks. You're the one making the extraordinary claim, the onus is on you to evidence it. I assume you do have that?

ageingrunner · 04/11/2016 11:39

BUT HOW DO WE TELL THE DIFFERENCE HANORA? HOW DO WE KNOW WHO IS A PERV IN A DRESS AND WHO IS GENUINELY TRANS?

Hanora50 · 04/11/2016 11:39

Should say "so are not capable of rape"

Hanora50 · 04/11/2016 11:37

As someone who worked for over twenty years with persistent sex offenders and violent criminals I am very aware that."men" commit the higher rate of sexual and violent offences but as I consider a transgender womyn to be a womyn then to me she is just that a womyn. She is no more likely to be going into a womyn's toilet with thought of sexual assault than I am. The graph shown is indicitive of heterosexual male assaults and not of any assaults committed by transgender womyn. After all if an individual has transitioned to the point of full surgery then they actually do not have a penis so are capable of rape in that sense and yes I know sexual assaults are committed in more ways than that. In fact recent facts show that it was two ftm who were charged for not stating they were transgender and not mtf...but that is a whole other story and possibly miscarriage of justice. So does anyone have solid documentary evidence that shows that transgender womyn are predatory or persistant sex offenders because if so I would like to see it because as I have already stated the evidence is around heterosexual makes.

ageingrunner · 04/11/2016 11:33

Also the 'but feel free to get back on topic' got my goat tbh.

Datun · 04/11/2016 11:30

Because there's no real affinity with women. It's depressingly obvious every time. Except for A Guy Called Helen.

CoteDAzur · 04/11/2016 11:17

"Pansexual" sounds a lot like "I have so few takers that I'll take what's coming" in some cases. Of course I don't know ATM so can't say if that applies.

TalkingintheDark · 04/11/2016 11:15

I notice that too, IAmTheWhoreOfBabylon. It's funny how a trans person telling us what's what comes over exactly the same way as a regular man presuming to mansplain.

IAmTheWhoreOfBabylon · 04/11/2016 11:02
