Loads of likes on one calling for her and her family to pay him his wages for the last five years( posted by a women) and one that she went back with a footballer she wasn't going for coffee ( posted by a man)

Some of the comments on facebook are disgusting. It makes me so angry.
It would not surprise me in the future to hear that her name has been chanted at football matches when he is playing.

Andrewofgg · 14/10/2016 18:18

I wrote Well, they heard the evidence and one of us did and of course I meant Well, they heard the evidence and none of us did

Elendon · 14/10/2016 18:17

Oh yes, Ched Evans will always be likened to Donald Trump in my mind. Rich men who get away with it because they have money and influence.

Andrewofgg · 14/10/2016 18:16

BeyondPolkadots The peition is still being checked. What does it ask for?

Andrewofgg · 14/10/2016 18:15

I'm not qualoified to judge that, I agree, but neither is anybody else, except the individual woman concerned.

The defendant would probably ignore the claim and let judgment go by default. Then make himself bankrupt and make the judgment permanently worthless.

venusinscorpio · 14/10/2016 18:14

I will sign it, but it hasn't been approved yet.

BeyondPolkadots · 14/10/2016 18:10

Always worth a shot...

Like many of you I'm upset by this. Genuinely feel like crying. I'd like to do something and I'm wondering how to make maximum impact. Is there anything concrete that we can do?

Lorelei76 · 14/10/2016 18:08

Merry I also thought he'd convicted himself via his own gob. Wonder if transcripts will be made available.

merrymouse · 14/10/2016 18:07

It's not just the victims of rape - this case says to lawyers, policemen, - everyone involved in helping rape victims - just don't bother. You're just putting the victim through Hell and you won't get anywhere unless you can prove she was a virgin.

MrsJusticeCunt · 14/10/2016 18:04

Never has it been brought into such terrifying focus that if you are a rich, white man, you can evade justice. Ched Evans - who I will always refer to as 'that rapist'. Donald Trump. A man who has openly boasted of sexual assault, is still lauded, loved and the Republican candidate to become the most powerful man in the world.
The rules are made by men. The world is ruled by men. And I'm afraid.

merrymouse · 14/10/2016 18:03

The point of a civil suit would be to win, not to make money. However, I doubt the victim wants to go through this again. Who would trust the law after this?

venusinscorpio · 14/10/2016 17:56

Sorry that was to Andrew

venusinscorpio · 14/10/2016 17:56

I'm sure there are rape victims who would put themselves through it to get some kind of justice. They are braver than me. I took issue with you saying such an action was essentially pointless. You are not qualified to judge that.

booox · 14/10/2016 17:54

I'm with the idea of donating to the group mentioned above.

Could this be set up as a new thread on mn or is that not allowed?

Elendon · 14/10/2016 17:54

The Radio 4 interview with a close associate with CE was disgraceful.

venusinscorpio · 14/10/2016 17:53

My point was general, as yours was. You were talking about men who had no money or other significant assets.

merrymouse · 14/10/2016 17:53

We know Ched Evans had sex with her without consent, from his own testimony. The only thing this apparently establishes is that if you can convince a jury that the victim is a slag, you don't need consent.

The Judges must explain the thinking behind allowing the new evidence - they have effectively legalised rape.

Andrewofgg · 14/10/2016 17:45

venus I meant only that a civil suit in most cases would be another dreadful ordeal for the complainant. If she is able and willing to go trhough with it I wish her well.

11122aa · 14/10/2016 17:41

Sadly a compensation claim will be quite successful especially as he could sue the media instead.

venusinscorpio · 14/10/2016 17:41

Andrew, with all due respect, the money is not the only reason to go for a civil suit. It might seem pointless to you, but to a victim it means your rapist didn't get away with it completely.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/10/2016 17:39

'Pinkissimo I just have to hope that I brought up my DS as my father brought me up - to make such a thing unthinkable. I believe so. But so, I expect, did CE's father.'

I don't think we can assume that, sadly. There are an awful lot of men gloating about the outcome of this case and many of them will have sons. I think we can guess what they're bringing them up to believe about women and sexual consent.

IndominusRex · 14/10/2016 17:38

I think we should go on strike. I really do. Things need to change.

MorrisZapp · 14/10/2016 17:37

It's just been covered on radio 4 by Eddie Mar. The coverage was 'we thought he was guilty, now we know he's not. How successful will a compensation claim be?'.

I dread to think what the gutter press will do with it.
