Even if the tweet was real (doubt it seeing as it didn't get used in the case) it said "when I win big" iirc- phrased far more like a "when I win the lottery" thing than what actually happened.

IBelieveTheEarthIsFlat · 19/10/2016 12:36

I had to step back from reading about it this weekend as I was so upset and really fucking angry. Still am. Would really love to know how I can positively direct my anger but feel pretty helpless. Which is making me even more angry

deadringer · 19/10/2016 12:31

Thanks so much. I have read lots of articles and googled but couldn't find anything about the recording. I thought maybe it had been deleted. Such a devastating case, and when i read the disgusting comments online it makes me weep for my dds who have to make their way in this misogynist world.

"Kind, rapists don't rape just to get sex. They do it because they get a kick out of violating another person's boundaries."

You are right Venus. I just wanted to spell out that CE is in fact a rather weedy, pathetic man for all the "star" footballer idea of himself he and his fans undoubtedly have of him. The ridiculously replusive Trump thought of himself as a "star" too!

I think a lot of men/jury/judges evidently think that having sex with (raping) a drunk, girl - who in their minds is a slag if they have been drinking or ever had sex - before is fair game, a normal way to get some sex, "I've got a bird". Using and abusing is not remotely rape in their eyes.

This outcome is devastating. I heard a woman, who may be a barrister herself (sorry to be so vague) talking on the radio. She thought the so called new evidence had not been relevant and she said she thought that the CPS (?) would have challenged this if they had had enough money.

SomeDyke · 19/10/2016 12:22

A splendid piece of dangerous nonsense in the Torygraph:

www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-filter/why-the-fallout-from-the-ched-evans-verdict-puts-all-of-our-sons/

The CPS being all too keen to prosecute when no complaint of rape, or when it's just 'normal' drunken disrespect of women, puts all our sons at risk (and no mention of daughters/mothers/sisters/partners being put at risk by this!). Oh, and it's all the fault of rabid feminist lynch mobs taking it out on normal laddish behaviour......................And the fault of the CPS for prosecuting that the victim has had such a terrible time.

With the utterly disgusting last line:
"Call me old-fashioned, but I will never believe that a woman who has to be told by police that she may have been raped is the victim of a rapist. That is to shamefully diminish the most hideous of crimes."

WomanWithAltitude · 19/10/2016 11:59

If that kind of evidence had been available, it would no doubt have been prominent in the defence case.

Marbleheadjohnson · 19/10/2016 11:48

The tweets about getting money are just lies hearsay by people trying to discredit her. I daresay if that kind of evidence were available, it would have been used instead of "she had sex before and she had sex after".

DeleteOrDecay · 19/10/2016 11:47

Not inappropriate at all dead, how are you going to know unless you ask? I'll try and help to the best of my knowledge.

what happened to the recording that was made by ched's friend and brother. Was that used in evidence?

From what I gather it was too dark for the footage to really be of any use and CE closed the curtain at one point. The two men outside were heard speaking, one asking who the girl was and the other responding with "some fat bird". But that's all they got from the recording I think.

I am 99.9% sure that the so called tweets the woman posted were made up/fabricated/blown out of proportion. Lots of people on social media claimed she deleted them but they were apparently recovered by an American hacker. I personally think it's a load of bollocks. I also believe rumours about her falsely accusing other men of rape in the past were bollocks too. No one has ever been able to show any proof and neither of these things came up in court so imo it's a load of nonsense spread by people who just want to smear the victim.

deadringer · 19/10/2016 11:38

I have been following this but clearly not closely enough because i am not clear about a couple of things and wondered if someone more knowledgeable could fill me in. For the record i 100% believe that the girl in this case was raped but i was wondering what happened to the recording that was made by ched's friend and brother. Was that used in evidence? Also there was a lot of talk about the girl tweeting about the money she was going to get. ( i know that she didnt sell her story or seek compensation). Is there any evidence of these tweets or are they just hearsay? I have seen it trotted out as a fact on fb etc and i would love to be able to refute it but i feel i don't have all the information. Thank you and I hope these are not inappropriate questions, i will ask for this to be removed if so.

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 19/10/2016 10:57

I'm certainly gonna think twice about being alone with the school-dad who posted in support!!

femfortheday · 19/10/2016 10:55

Yes, the only upside to all these men coming out in support of CE is that it's now easier to identify the rapists and potential rapists, because they are identifying themselves.

Memoires · 19/10/2016 10:22

Excellent blog.

JenLindleyShitMom · 19/10/2016 09:29

Agree, fantastic blog post. I am Shock to hear of that hashtag! Are men seriously saying this? They are literally saying they would act/have acted as he did? Wow.

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 19/10/2016 09:15

Great blog post Xeno

Xenophile · 19/10/2016 08:59

This blogpost says pretty much what I think with a couple of exceptions about the type of men who think what Evans did was ok.

CharlieSierra · 19/10/2016 07:33

Maybe she refused to leave him, so he sees it as preferable that she's with an acquitted rapist than a convicted one.

Or maybe he's just another arsehole who doesn't understand the meaning of consent. Maybe he's the kind of man who would do the same.

HelenaDove · 19/10/2016 02:22

What is Masseys motivation here. What does he have to gain?

venusinscorpio · 19/10/2016 00:32

That was Ched Evans' first incredulous defence, "why would I need need to rape - I can have any woman I want".

venusinscorpio · 19/10/2016 00:29

Kind, rapists don't rape just to get sex. They do it because they get a kick out of violating another person's boundaries.

"Last, with apologies for the bombardment, does anyone think it's a bit of a coincidence that the victim was apparently affected by something resembling a date rape drug, following which she was raped? Is no-one else at all wondering this".

I agree it does sound like that.
Can anyone tell me why it is allowed to take evidence from bribed people, especially when there has been time to tell them what to say to match what CE had said happened?

I also find it strange that a footballer would need to resort to (raping) a poor drunk/drugged teenager to get sex - one that a friend has got into a bed ready for him.

11122aa · 18/10/2016 23:33

They be next on the suing list by the evans family.

MorrisZapp · 18/10/2016 23:29

Bloody good tweet lads.

venusinscorpio · 18/10/2016 23:25

Bless them for that.

WomanWithAltitude · 18/10/2016 23:24

I saw that and was impressed - proof that decent young men do 'get it'.
