Merry Christmas to all FWR posters.

Regular and irregular!

Xmas Grin
Xenophile · 25/12/2016 09:10

Just leaping in to wish the fine feminists of Mumsnet a Merry Christmas.

And the others, I suppose. Xmas Grin

DeviTheGaelet · 23/12/2016 19:07

Is it about her deleted post M0stly? I read it before it went

M0stlyHet · 23/12/2016 19:02

Just out of interest, is anyone on here in contact with FloraFox other than via Mumsnet? If so, could you PM me, thanks.

DeviTheGaelet · 12/12/2016 17:57

Yes. Any men sounds like it's plural to me and I would want to specify a man on their own. Don't know if I'm correct though

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 12/12/2016 13:27

I was reading a fb group post and there was a comment about children should be left with "any man" some people got offended others said it was class analysis.

This is where the pedant in me comes out 'men' is the collective term for males, 'any man' is saying every single individual male.

Am i alone in this opinion?

BeyondTheHarpy · 12/12/2016 10:36

Mulled gin certainly sounds interesting...! Antibiotics finished now so I can drink again, yay!! 🍸

TheMortificadosDragon · 12/12/2016 00:03

Not on the goat!

EvenTheWind · 11/12/2016 23:55

Ooh, it's all gone quiet. That means I get to do the Christmassy shit!

Kidnapped · 02/12/2016 22:40

Hi Devi.

I'll have another pint of the Hillary's Ruin, please.

DeviTheGaelet · 02/12/2016 22:38

Hi kidnapped!
never I absolutely adored Kubo. Really loved it. DH thought it was tedious Smile

Kidnapped · 02/12/2016 21:46

Don't mind if I do, Even.

I'll have a pint of it. Wine

EvenTheWind · 02/12/2016 21:44

Seasonal cocktails?

there you go, mulled gin!

NeverEverAnythingEver · 02/12/2016 21:37

We haven't seen Moana, or Fantastic Beast, or Swallows and Amazon. We are SO BEHIND! How about Kubo and the two strings? We were going to see them all when they were out!

Kidnapped · 02/12/2016 21:35

Howdy everyone, first time here. Nice in here, innit?

Is there any wine on the go?

Seasonal cocktails maybe?

EvenTheWind · 02/12/2016 21:15

Grr!

Try the latest Disney, "Moana". Much better!

boldlygoingsomewhere · 02/12/2016 20:47

A small irritation today - was watching The Jungle Book (Disney cartoon version) with dd and got so annoyed at the way the elephant herd is portrayed. A male elephant leads the herd and the only female is his wife in supporting role. Elephants are matriarchal and live in female family groups!

Sorry, had to vent somewhere people would understand. Hope everyone is having a good Friday - here's a Wine.

EvenTheWind · 29/11/2016 18:29

Just now on a chat thread about whether ingredient X could be subbed for ingredient Y, someone posted "fuck off that sounds disgusting"

Sure, it didn't sound like a good plan, but it's a dairy item, doesn't warrant that kind of response.

It just seems a much less kind place these days, MN!

Notreallyconsent · 29/11/2016 18:09

That's so awful Het.

I live up and down doubting my take on reality on a daily basis right now, it doesn't help to read threads like that. But thankfully I'm not living in a difficult situation anymore . Some poor women are.

Its good to have somewhere to decompress.

Thelilywhite · 29/11/2016 17:38

Call me a coward if you like but this is exactly why I only go on Feminist chat section. 😞

M0stlyHet · 29/11/2016 17:28

I thought it was probably that thread, not - that was the one which occasioned my request for a quadruple gin and whisky chaser a few posts back in the pub. It just makes me think of my poor sister, struggling to find the strength and emotional resources to get out of an abusive marriage and being told by the religious elders in the cookie religion that she'd got involved with to give her husband another chance because marriage was sacred and they'd had a word with her husband and were sure he'd be a nice chap from now on. People like the idiots on that thread don't realise or don't care that by minimising and victim blaming they're condemning some woman to a living hell.

Notreallyconsent · 29/11/2016 16:56

I'm fine thanks.

Sad at the general state of things and what posters of both sex are defending.

And glad I didn't read the lie back and think of England shit when I wasn't fine.

Wish they'd deleted posts and frozen the thread.

BeyondTheHarpy · 29/11/2016 16:46

I've pretty much stayed away since then, though I probably shouldn't.

BeyondTheHarpy · 29/11/2016 16:46

I agree mostlyhet and even. I've whinged about it before many, many times but there was a thread in relationships by a man saying how he coerced his wife into sex. And I (and others) were chastised by many posters for pointing out that coerced sex = rape, before mn deleted the thread for "privacy reasons"
