Out at a beautiful beachside cafe with a jazz band, when two women approached with a tray full of veeeerrrrrry expensive cognac they were promoting. They came to our table and offered it to my DP who doesn't drink at all. So I took a glass just to taste, they told me it wasn't really a ladies drink!!! WTF is a ladies drink??? I didn't know who had to have a fucking penis to enjoy a drink 😡😡😡
This really passed me off so untrue MN style I approached them and said its such a pity who mentioned that it is not a ladies drink as I Really wanted to buy a bottle but unfortunately I don't have a penis as you mentioned was a requirement so I will have to leave it then 🤔 Their jaws dropped and I swished my hair and walked away!!

Last time I went out to eat I got served my male friend's prawn salad while he got my venison pie. This is despite having taken the orders from us individually and answering "yes please" when our respective meals were announced.

trickleupeffect · 13/06/2016 22:04

Yep, my dh (now deceased) went with me to buy a car once. He couldn't drive due to his medical condition, wasn't interested in cars and loathed having to feign knowledge he didn't possess. Salesman still directed the answers to all my (v. pertinent) questions to dh. He made me promise never to take him to a car showroom again (partly because he thought I was going to explode).

Felascloak · 13/06/2016 20:31

cocoa at that point I think I would go to a different show room and tell them why. Sexist idiots.

Mind you we are doing our kitchen at the moment and none of the sales people will direct any information at DH even when he asks a question. Grrrr.

Felascloak · 13/06/2016 20:29

A car mechanic once insisted I took a seized brake caliper home to show DH, despite me repeatedly telling him DH knows nothing about cars, isn't interested in cars and has no interest in repairs to MY car. Grrrr.

Cocoabutton · 12/06/2016 21:41

Yes, re cars, I was buying a new one and had the DC with me. DDs dad had come to meet her at the showroom, as he had been late to pick her up.

Sales guy started immediately addressing him, assuming he was the man of the family, therefore the one buying, despite all previous discussion and the test drive being with me. He can't drive, we are not together and he certainly was not going to offer to payGrin

VestalVirgin · 12/06/2016 19:52

It's the same as cars. Men call some cars - ladies cars and big 4x4 cars men's cars. Can't say I've ever noticed a penis or a vagina/vulva on either but I'm happy to learn something new

Well, women only need cars as means of transportation, not to compensate for a tiny penis. That's probably it. Grin
Though to be fair, the big cars should probably be called "cars for people with low self-esteem".The source of which is not always a tiny penis.

HairyMoose · 12/06/2016 17:40

It was fantastic 😋😋

That is hilarious xxx

Trills · 12/06/2016 17:00

Well done.

Was it nice?

originalmavis · 12/06/2016 16:42

So are you supposed to hoover the cognac up via your John Thomas like an elephants trunk?

Novel indeed...

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 12/06/2016 16:38

DP is vegetarian and I'm not, but when we eat out it's usually assumed that our meals are the other way round (and that he's paying).

'Ere, you can't do a bank transfer, that's finance that is. Best ask hubby to do it for you.

"You lot" was probably the safest option Smile.

HairyMoose · 12/06/2016 15:49

Ah, it looks so, so lovely. I've always found it strange that there should be 'men's' and 'women's' drinks - they're just drinks fgs.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 12/06/2016 15:45

It was me who commented on "guys" not Almond. Still not a "guy"

JessieMcJessie · 12/06/2016 15:44

I like pints of beer. DH enjoys a gin and tonic on occasion. Waiters always serve us each other's drinks. Even when they have taken the order and heard us each request our own drink. It's all a bit Al Murray "fruit-based drink for the lady" isn't it?

I bloody love cognac and would also have had a go at those women. It's one thing for them to have market stats that tell them more men drink it than women; quite another to actively discourage a woman from drinking it. Actually I'd be emailing the marketing dept of the company and telling them what muppets their so-called promotions staff were; they'll probably send you a free bottle.

HairyMoose · 12/06/2016 15:42

It's Cape Town Underthegreenwoodtree, which is surprising as it's normally very FOR women not against. But they were probably either narrow minded or think it gains them sales Hmm. The women doing the promotion were from the actual cognac company so not affiliated with the pub/cafe.

It's an informal thread Almond. Guys is kind of generic. Ladies or gentlemen are a segregated manner in speech. So safest bet without sounding twatish is just guys which covers everyone.

Where is it HairyMoose, it looks utterly gorgeous. I want to be 20yrs younger and to be there Grin

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 12/06/2016 14:23

Pity about your thread title tho'. I am not a "guy"

HairyMoose · 12/06/2016 14:03

No mine was cheaper, but the point was, is that the waiter assumed I'd want the smaller one and my DP the bigger just because of our sex! If he'd asked what size we'd like, we'd both have ordered the big one but he purely went on assumption, that's what annoyed me. I did have a go at him and said just because I have a vagina, it doesn't mean I eat less!!

Were the different size steaks the same price?!
