Has banned the use of the word 'clitoris' at its feminist festival as it it trans exclusionary.
www.feministcurrent.com/2016/06/03/german-ladyfest-clitoris-exclusionary/
I hope it is boycotted by women. How DARE they tell us we cannot celebrate and talk about our female anatomy?

What u just said, was what I was just thinking......so any man can say he is a woman and invade our toilets or changing rooms,,but the penis is a small give away...you can't change biology.men have penises.women do not....that's like me saying,,,huuuum I don't feel like being a woman today,I fancy being a cat....well I'm not a cat as I've not got a tail ,so a man can't be a woman with a penis....omg...what the hell kind of world have I brought kids in to.this is a million ways of fucked up...all I ever thought on this subject was,,some men like to wear a dress.oh well up to them....but it's so much more than that

Snowshimmer · 03/06/2016 20:58

I feel like climbing up on a roof, yelling CLITORIS VULVA XX CHROMOSOMES VAGINA UTERUS after reading that crap OP

LurcioAgain · 03/06/2016 20:55

It is a "dear god" moment when you realise some of the issues.

In fairness, I think the vast majority of trans folk just want to get on with life in the knowledge that they won't be discriminated against in employment, or if they try to book a B&B or whatever. The trouble is, it is the extreme transactivists who seem to have got the ear of the people drafting new legislation - so for instance, the old gender reassignment certificates are being replaced by simply being able to declare, in any circumstances, that you are transgender. And this needn't even mean "wearing a dress" - there are men who "present as men" (Daniele Muscato, for example) who insist they are women. And if (when) the legislation goes through, anyone male-bodied, whether trans or not, will simply be able to announce "I feel I am a woman", and you will have no legal grounds to challenge their presence in a woman-only space (this has happened already in America, with one case of a teenage swim team who I think are now having to use the janitor's storeroom to change, because a "transwoman" with fully intact penis insists that "she" wants to swim and change in the communal changing rooms at exactly the same time the girls change for their scheduled swimming training).

DuvetDayEveryday · 03/06/2016 20:54

It's eye opening, isn't it?

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 20:52

I kid u not,I am having an education on mums net...wish I'd joined yrs ago

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 20:51

So man who thinks he is a lesbian is upset because a real lesbian won't have sex with him/ her......and a ladypenis is a real thing?.wow how have I missed all that,

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 20:46

Wtf....lurcio,dear god

LurcioAgain · 03/06/2016 20:43

Petal - MtT means "male to trans" (used by some, but not all feminists in preference to MtF, "male to female" - MtT is used to indicate that you can't actually change biological sex). The majority of transwomen don't actually have "bottom surgery". To some extent I have sympathy with this position - the surgery is painful and often does not have good outcomes (loss of sexual function, problems with the "neovagina" closing up, etc). However, if you choose to keep your penis, I think you don't belong in certain women's spaces, such as communal changing rooms, women-only rape crisis centres. Certain very vocal transactivists disagree (google "cotton ceiling" if you really want to read some stuff that will blow your mind - there are a group of transwomen who identify as lesbian, and claim that lesbians who won't have sex with their "ladypenises" are transphobic bigots for being... attracted to women's bodies and genitalia... which I naively always thought was a pretty big part of being a lesbian - not the whole story, but a pretty big part).

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 20:34

I'm clearly old ,mid 40s,I've no idea what any of the terms mean,MtT?...I read the link ,twice,....why are men going to a women's festival ? Regardless of if they wear a dress or not, they are male under it,so why are they allowed in...or weirdly why would they want to go...to perv?... I was late night shopping in Asda a few years back with my pre teens at the time.a big 6 foot plus man came in,wearing fishnets, heels ,dress ,the works...my kids were like mum mum it's a man in a dress....he clearly was a man...but I wondered why no one had shown him how to apply make up properly.....maybe they need their own festival.practice make up and stuff

NeedACleverNN · 03/06/2016 20:34

Isn't it amazing you don't hear much about transmen?!

It's mainly transwomen. Funny that

timelytess · 03/06/2016 20:31

Meanwhile, my rights as a woman are reduced.
I feel this very strongly.
Whilst I want people to have happy lives and not be forced into roles they aren't comfortable with, I don't want my woman-ness defined by people who were once biological men.

SoddingPufflers · 03/06/2016 20:28

I've never had a discussion about my clitoris, my pancreas or my pituitary gland amongst other body parts in RL. As other posters already said, that doesn't mean they don't exist, or aren't important to me.

PalmerViolet · 03/06/2016 20:26

No always, most MtT still have their dicks.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 03/06/2016 20:24

I'm not certain I've ever said clitoris out loud either, nor vulva, cervix, (apart from in the context of cervical cancer), vagina or ovary ; or discussed them. I assume, although it was a long time ago, the midwives when I was pregnant must have mentioned cervix and uterus to me as did the gynaecologist who did my endometrial ablation. I don't recall having much of a conversation about it.

Vulva cupcakes are every bit as tiresome and unamusing as chocolate willies.

All of that is however completely irrelevant as I can't recall ever having a conversation about say my pancreas , pituitary gland or appendix either but they are all parts of my body and those are their names.

and that being mindful of how female anatomy offends people

I can only hope that lost something in translation. I had a look at the German website but it's beyond my limited German to translate.

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 20:18

Trans is not a word for asex changed person?

PunkrockerGirl · 03/06/2016 20:17

Clitoris clitoral clitoris.
My device doesn't recognize the word and changes it to California Confused
To be fair Petal I don't feel the need to say the word often either.
But I reserve the right to feel that my rights as a woman, to feel safe in women's spaces are at risk of being eroded.
Trans exclusionary? Fuck off. Putting a frock and a bit of makeup on will never, ever make you a woman. You don't have a clitoris, you never will have one. Deal with it and get over it and quit trying to invade our safe and private spaces.

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 20:17

in a male to female sex change ,I'm sure I read they use the end of the penis to make a clitorus....so why would these idiots need to ban the word

DuvetDayEveryday · 03/06/2016 20:12

I have no words. Down the rabbit hole we go.

NeedACleverNN · 03/06/2016 20:12

“Maybe vulvas and vaginas would be seen as less disgusting/offensive if we called them non-penises,” Pintul quipped.

I could see that happening if this carries on Angry

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 20:12

I'm trying,but yr all losing me.i can't follow ,sorry

AlistairSim · 03/06/2016 20:11

A TERF is a Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist, Petal. It's something trans-activists use as an insult, often followed by "Die in a fire".

They are not well-known for their rationality or smarts.

LurcioAgain · 03/06/2016 20:10

I have a clitoris, and a vulva, and labia, and a vagina, and I'm damn fond of all of them!

And I write erotic fanfiction where I talk about female orgasms, and mention all of them. So nerr to the organisers of Ladyfest (where I presume the indicates a footnote saying "especially those special ladies with lady penises).

I want transexuals to have the right to go about their daily business without the threat of harrassment or violence, to know they can go into their workplaces and not be discriminated against, etc.

But transactivists who want to erase female biology and female sexuality can fuck right off.

Chickpeasandpakchoi · 03/06/2016 20:09

Me too Petal! If it was near me I would go with a megaphone and shout the words clitoris and vagina at the top of my voice!!
