Has banned the use of the word 'clitoris' at its feminist festival as it it trans exclusionary.

I hope it is boycotted by women. How DARE they tell us we cannot celebrate and talk about our female anatomy?

A feminist festival where natural female anatomy is 'problematic'.

I just wrote several paragraphs on this, but fuck it. I really think we need separation of feminism and trans rights/issues. And I'm sorry - a person with a penis is a man. If that person then goes through the relevant procedures to become female, fine. If they can't afford it/are afraid of surgery, then I can sympathize - with him, but I go no further than that. You don't just pull a pair of M&S floral knickers over your balls and call yourself a woman. No.

Chickpeasandpakchoi · 03/06/2016 22:23

I am afraid at how far this insanity might go. Ten years from now, will we just not be allowed to talk about women's bodies/issues at all? With no safe spaces for women left? Or will women wake up to what is going on before that?

Not all women, myself included, have periods but I don't feel excluded or treated as being less than when my friends discuss the topic.
My clit is as valid as part of my body as my lungs. I was born with it, it's not a political or gender related point I wanted to make so I went and got one.
I'm all for people expressing themselves how ever they see fit and don't persecute anyone for how they choose to identify but it seems like I'm now being told I can't identify as a woman with my woman bits without having labels thrown at me and being accused of being a bigot.
I read a lot of the threads here but still struggle to understand all points of view.

Snowshimmer · 03/06/2016 22:18

It doesn't matter what type of feminist festival it is, censoring the words clitoris and vulva is anti-feminist.

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 22:12

How can u have a queer feminist festival .....queer is male ,like gay

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/06/2016 22:10

It's a queer feminist festival, not a radical feminist festival or a women only festival. It's just catering to its target group.

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 22:08

A lot of people just getting on with their life may not know all the different names/ terms/ of things that are a thing that they've never even heard of

Chickpeasandpakchoi · 03/06/2016 22:06

And women are colluding in this dangerous hateful nonsense!

Is it possible most people will of read the article and not understood the warning, not noticed it or relised what it meant.....I needed it pointing out..

Snowshimmer · 03/06/2016 22:03

It makes me furious, Chickpeas
Talking about female body parts is cissexist. Article about female trauma is cissexist.
Bollockssss

Chickpeasandpakchoi · 03/06/2016 21:59

So we don't need a content warning for survivors of childhood abuse. Because who cares about them. But we MUST have a CW for trans ladies reading about children being abused as the mention of vaginas might hurt their feelings. Absolutely chilling.

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 21:49

5 minutes later,,,,.i get it the penny drops. .not the article we are discussing but the warning before hand...shit that's bad

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 21:37

Regarding the article, that's no surprise......did people really think women abused in childhood would just carry on with no ill effects???? fFS....

NeedACleverNN · 03/06/2016 21:35

No that is the one. It's triggered as cissexism because it is talking about female brains and is therefore excluding transwomen (I think that was the point. I confuse myself with all these terminologies)

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 21:35

It feels like things are being given a name that aren't even a thing...like cisgender...isn't that 99% of the population

Chickpeasandpakchoi · 03/06/2016 21:34

No that's the one Petal

OP posts:
Petal40 · 03/06/2016 21:33

Cisgender is just an average person,? I read the article....was it the one about abused women's brains showing how they were abused in childhood? Or have I read the wrong one

TendonQueen · 03/06/2016 21:32

By this logic, shouldn't they also declare references to a penis trans-exclusionary, as not all women have them?

NeedACleverNN · 03/06/2016 21:27

cis

Short for "cisgender" (opposite of "transgender"), used to describe someone whose gender identity matches their anatomical gender at birth.

From urban dictionary

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 21:25

Never heard of cissexism,I swear I'm not a troll...I'm just out of the loop...my head is swimming ,going read the article now

NeedACleverNN · 03/06/2016 21:19

m.facebook.com/guerrillafeminism/

It's a public post petal you don't need FB.

That's shocking though cissexism shouldn't exist!

Petal40 · 03/06/2016 21:16

I'm not on Facebook....how else can I see it

VestalVirgin · 03/06/2016 21:14

This is freaking insane.

I hoped Germany was relatively safe from this shit, but apparently it spreads over the internet, and the feminists are already all infected.

Those are real people, actual, real, German women who really think this is a good idea ... I despair. Confused

Chickpeasandpakchoi · 03/06/2016 21:14

Guerrilla Feminism has just posted a really emotive piece on FB about how childhood abuse affects female brains. Really harrowing stuff.

It's preceded by a trigger warning for cissexism as it discusses women's brains.

This is terrifying.
