..thread starters weren't deleted? Often there is really interesting discussion on them before they're zapped, and I fondly imagine that, while the OP isn't going to have their views changed, other people who might have similar opinions might think a bit. And surely we don't need protecting from the gits? We can look after ourselves....

He. Partial is male. As anyone who was interested in checking could search his name and see that. It's not like he hides it.

Please stop this Lass.

You're making yourself look ridiculous in your seemingly desperate need to jump on anything about 3 posters say.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 26/12/2015 10:19

Buffy I was genuinely puzzled by your remark " known poster" - so it's a bit like "known offender"? If it is, then that is a code.

I thought it was an odd thing to say since anyone who was interested in checking could search partial's name and see she is a regular poster on MN.

I recall reading that thread from yourself pd and I read it as an OP that was busy burrowing that space between seemingly reasonable and possibly, and pointlessly, provocative in the interest of 'debate'.
I wasn't convinced of the 'seemingly reasonable' position then, and neither am I convinced of your demure now.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 25/12/2015 23:58

partialderivative I wondered about that known comment.

I don't see why you should not have started your thread. I have seen quotes by feminists such as Dworkin, Catherine MacKinnon and Sheila Jeffrey which were not dissimilar to the views expressed in the article you referred to.

partialderivative · 25/12/2015 22:14

The PIV one recently was started by 'known' poster, but with the hope of making feminists look foolish, imo. Was good that that one was left.

I think I was the op to your reference, Buffy.

I wasn't aware that I was a 'known' poster, whatever that means, but my intention was never to make anyone look foolish.

I was delighted with the way the thread developed, I learnt a lot.

I stopped posting as it seemed my posts were an annoyance and a distraction to the way things were moving,

I think the same way...plus I think anti-feminists are such thickos that it really shows when they are faced with the ultra-smart women on here, and most people wouldn't want to be associated with such intellectually challenged men, surely?

BertrandRussell · 23/12/2015 17:06

I suppose I think that rhe long term anti feminists on this forum might read the MRA arsehole posts on here and have a Road to Damascus experience. But I am eternal optimist- despite my 40 years at the feminist coal-face.......

All the forums, or just the MRA forums?

You could try spacefem. Part of why I never really like the forums was that there's so little activity, but they also have a fair share of "But whyyyyy is it called feminism, not equalism?" and such. Together with a lack of insightful feminist debate, that's why the forum bores me.

BertrandRussell · 23/12/2015 13:03

"If you want to read comments by MRAs, visit any other forum. "

I can't- they keep banning me!

I know what you mean, though. I just wonder whether deletion might make people think they've said someone significant.

If you want to read comments by MRAs, visit any other forum. I am very, very glad that the anti-feminist threads are removed - the forums would be full of them, and we would do nothing but fight anti-feminist trolls on here.

It is okay if you like fighting anti-feminists on the internet, but I like that on mumsnet, one can actually talk about feminist ideas with other feminist, not explain feminism to antifeminists all the damn time.

Trills · 22/12/2015 08:42

deleting them gives then more credibility

I don't really agree - for most people deleting them makes them invisible, because we don't see every thread.

PlaysWellWithOthers · 22/12/2015 08:27

Or possibly 'Damn boy, are you a bra? Because you make me uncomfortable but society has brainwashed me into thinking I need you'

PlaysWellWithOthers · 22/12/2015 08:24

I'd agree that some of the more ridiculous 'all women are bastards and feminism is awful' threads could be allowed to stand, because some of them are actually kind of amusing in their formulaic misogyny.

What concerns me more are the really nasty anti-feminist posters who, by dint of them having been posting on the site for x number of years, don't get deleted for saying pretty much the same things. One day, if I have the time and energy, I'll collate a few examples and send them in to MNHQ.

Didn't see the mug one. Shame. I'd quite like a 'gender is slavery' mug.

Well the obvious route for ethical merchandising is to commission a female potter to throw them and paint on your own slogans of choice

I didn't spot it was a sales pitch-Lurcio did and whether or not she reported it's against the rules.

I think that generally deleting them gives then more credibility. They, and their little friends will think they must have really hit home for them to be deleted.....
