Ooh ooh! Do I get to start it?

Wine and cake all round. And a celebratory burst on the patriarchy-blasting cannon!

Old pub here

Hello Buffy!

I have slunk in to down a few single malts as a result of having fairly inadvertently got into a slanging match on Facebook Hmm about trans issues. Apparently I am a TERFy bigot and Nazi.

FreshwaterSelkie · 28/04/2016 19:14

I prefer over-thinking too. I wish more people did it...

Today I am imagining an updated scold's bridle. Only instead of going over the faces of uppity gossipy women, this one is attached to the typing fingers of MRAs. So when they try to type goady fucking nonsense on feminist forums, they just end up impotently banging their helpless fists on their keyboards. Muahahahahah!

Let's get a kickstarter going and make it happen!

Just in case any one is in London and fancies some feministing

Matchwomen's Festival

VestalVirgin · 24/04/2016 19:24

I read that one, too, GreenTomatoJam. Sad, isn't it?

I also read the one where a woman wants to buy shoes with heels for her eight year old because she fears that if she doesn't, the poor thing might end up not being able to walk in high heels. (Which, apparently, would be terrible Hmm)

NeverEverAnythingEver · 24/04/2016 17:12

Can we overthink here rather than underthink?

I prefer overthinking ...

NeverEverAnythingEver · 12/04/2016 22:20

Nowhere is safe. :(

GreenTomatoJam · 12/04/2016 20:58

Right, that's it. Apparently it's fine to send 8 year old girls play makeup, and bad to send it back saying it's inappropriate.

I'm not going out there any more (stomps feet)

Blow the lot of them and their horrifically binding gender ideals.

I shall stay in FWR where we're allowed to think what we like.

I saw that news too!

Haven't posted on here much. I find the whataboutery a bit much, sometimes ... It's a bit like what's-his-name with the pushing-the-boulder-up-the-hill. Sisyphus. Or housework. Relentless, unchanging, BORING.

But I'm going to bake a cake today. I've given myself a few days off just to take the kids round places and restricted work stuff to deleting emails and polishing off the dull stuff. Quite keen to get back to proper work next week.

FreshwaterSelkie · 06/04/2016 16:29

isn't it and doesn't it? Will update later when they report how its gone.

That's amazing news Selkie.

FreshwaterSelkie · 06/04/2016 12:23

The whataboutery is maddening. There's been a few times recently that I've had to check which board I'm posting on, because I've found myself having to defend or clarify basic feminist positions, like believing women that women who say they have been sexually assaulted. Too weird.

ANYHOO! In better news, are you all aware that France is hoping to criminalise buying sex, as of today? The final debates are just happening.

Men buying sex can would be fined 1500E, with a penalty of 3750E for recidivism. And they will be sent on a course to understand "the conditions of prostitution" (which I think is a great idea). Soliciting would no longer be a criminal act. Foreign nationals who want to exit prostitution will be granted a 6 month leave to stay in the country to help them exit.

I don't know if english language media has picked it up yet, but for any French readers (or possessors of google translate!), here's the le monde link.

Usual arguments for and against, as you'd expect, so everything crossed it gets through.

Allez la France Grin

PalmerViolet · 06/04/2016 11:21

Few of us post much anymore, too much whataboutery.

I believe Buffy is busy.
