You can't kill all the boy children, Jeanne. Who else will I exploit to do whatever stuff it is I want doing?

violetwellies · 23/03/2015 09:07

Taking the OP at face value.
I suppose if she were to get involved in the trafficking of women and girls then her feminist credentials might take a battering?

JeanneDeMontbaston · 23/03/2015 08:51

Well, you answered it yourself, will. If posting in this section makes us feminists, then stepping out of it turns us into pumpkins. I myself have a satisfying alternative life posting in MN's little-known 'kill the boy children and become a political lesbian' section, but I never dare to talk about it here.

AnyFucker and SukieTuesday are spot on I reckon. And funny with it.

wickedlazy · 23/03/2015 01:29

Sukie the troll would. And would probably enjoy it too Grin

I wouldn't call myself a feminist, but I think women should have equal rights. I think we should be able to do everything men do. Walk the streets wearing whatever we want in peace, same pay, voting rights etc. But I also want to take my partners name if we ever get married. I like that our ds has his name.

I like when he comes home from work, and I have ds tucked up warm and comfy in bed after having a nice day with me, housework done, candles lit and I give him a foot rub in front of the telly, yet I know he would never think to do the same for me. Or should I say couldn't do it to the same standard.

I think I disqualify from being a feminist because I'm to housewifey.

it sounds like sex-positive feminism is a response to a form of feminism is not, but in what way?

Sex positive feminism can empower a woman to hysteric highs, but as an individual. The attention she receives lessens the potential empowerment of other women. If the interests of a group of men is consensual, or parceled effectively by the women, she empowers herself.

Should married couples invent a new last name for themselves?

If a troll farts in a forest does anyone smell it?

AnyFucker · 23/03/2015 01:02

< koff >Goady < koff > Fucker

YonicScrewdriver · 23/03/2015 00:45

Will

Not everyone who posts here identifies as a feminist. I have no idea if Fay does. FYI, in case it helps your research, many of us disagree with Fay on a number of matters, not being monolithic.

Of course, you may already know fay. It's a small world.

53Dragon · 23/03/2015 00:44

How about this... I didn't change my name when I got married, but when ds1 went to school I started using dh's surname because I wanted the same surname as my children. I'm the same person, I'm not subservient in any way but I have ceased using the surname given to me at birth (which, after all, was my father's family name rather than my mother's).

I've now separated from dh but continue to use 'his' name.

Lweji · 23/03/2015 00:42

If the individual is the final authority, how can the interests of all women be advanced?

If you strive for self determination and equality, it's possible for the individual to be the final authority while making sure that the interests of all women are protected, surely.

ChopperGordino · 23/03/2015 00:36

What do you think?

willkeaveney62417 · 23/03/2015 00:36

Sex-positive feminism, interesting. Can this ever empower a woman more than a man?

OP posts:
willkeaveney62417 · 23/03/2015 00:34

What might be done in the name of a unified feminism could upset others. What are the most controversial trends? What happens when somone claiming to be feminist misrepresents others? If the individual is the final authority, how can the interests of all women be advanced?

OP posts:
ChopperGordino · 23/03/2015 00:26

Why, do you think they should fayyive?

fayyive · 23/03/2015 00:23

Should sex-positive feminists (those who generally prefer certain aspects of the sex industry to be regulated and legalised as opposed to criminalised) be disqualified from calling themselves feminists?

CheerfulYank · 23/03/2015 00:22

Like if you think doing sex work is empowering, do you mean?

ChopperGordino · 23/03/2015 00:19

OP what do you think would "disqualify" a woman from being a feminist?

Momagain1 · 23/03/2015 00:15

For any individual woman, i would say that yes, there are things she could consent to that go against her personal, applicable only to herself, feminist stance. Because life is complicated. but that's an individual situation only and their decision and discomfort dont redefine expectations for anyone else.

But is there one act which no one who calls herself feminist could ever do and maintain that? I dont think so. Maybe actively and purposefully denying rights to someone based on prejudice against some defining aspect of them? Because it seems to me if you understand the concept of gender equality you should strive not to be bigoted in some other direction.

pinkyredrose · 23/03/2015 00:15

OP what the fuck are you on about, what example is it that you want to know?

Notrevealingmyidentity · 23/03/2015 00:08

You mean like thinking all women should take their husbands names or something ? Confused

YonicScrewdriver · 23/03/2015 00:04
ChopperGordino · 23/03/2015 00:04

Yonic - not so shallow as to be disqualified, but you have to undertake 3 Hail Dworkins as penance

Anniegetyourgun · 23/03/2015 00:01

Dear Yonic

Which is the portrait in which he is holding a kitten? I like that one.

Love Annie
