Because the girl groomed him rather than the other way around according to the judge.

How worrying it is that we have judges that obviously think that men can not help themselves. How do they judge rape cases

So a school girl has a crush on a teacher yet he can not give in to temptation. Oh but he did when it was convenient for him he took her to his own family home but that is not grooming I am quite sure he was not open about the fact they were having sex

Still in 2015 some can not rid themselves of the idea that men can not possibly have any control over their actions when sex is involved and worse someone in power to help make changes

It's fucking depressing

So glad to see this post, was just open mouthed reading the news.

Hurr1cane · 14/01/2015 16:33

DP just said "well clearly that judge was a Paedophile"

I asked him (at 40 odd) would he give in to temptation if a 15 year old came on to him and he looked disgusted and said "it doesn't matter what she did, he's the adult and she's the child, it's sick"

It shouldn't bloody matter. Teenagers often become infatuated with teachers, and teachers are expected to act as adults and professionals in a position of trust.

Hurr1cane · 14/01/2015 16:28

Hmm I thought we lived in a society that protected children. I'm in my 20s and if a 15 year old boy 'pursued' me I would bloody well go tell the head/ his parents/ make sure I was never anywhere near him. the thought of it knocks me sick.

Sometimes I think the legal age should be 18 like in America so there is no 'grey area' so fucking young.

BreakingDad77 · 14/01/2015 16:02

I can see why now we had the situation in Yorkshire/Bristol where the authorities were telling parents your daughter is a child prostitute, not that she has been groomed etc.

BreakingDad77 · 14/01/2015 16:00

Exactly scallops, it seems like the old psyco-babble about being in a depressed state so he couldn't control his man beast.

Lottapianos · 14/01/2015 15:59

Jesus, how totally messed up. She was FIFTEEN! The judge may as well have called her a little slag. How utterly foul.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/01/2015 15:56

The fact is that the vast majority of people think that a young woman who looks like an adult and acts in a very adult and sexually persistent way is actually fair game to have a relationship with.

People are very, very wrong and very, very stupid.

The majority really think this.

Marphe · 14/01/2015 15:53

I'd be kinder Marjorie and wonder what in her past makes her think it's OK.

MarjorieMelon · 14/01/2015 15:52

When I read cases like this the only logical conclusion I can come to is that the judge is a paedophile who likes sex with underage children.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/01/2015 15:51

'Groom' is entirely the wrong word and its totally wrong to use it, 'pursue' is what happened.

And any man pursued by a child knows to say no, any who don't are child abusers.

scallopsrgreat · 14/01/2015 15:43

I am nearly his age. I seriously cannot think of any circumstances I would even want to have a sexual relationship with a 16 yr old. It wouldn't even be on my radar. Why was it on his?

Marphe · 14/01/2015 15:42

Even if the 15/16yo did "groom" him surely a senior teacher of his experience is trained to recognise this and put a stop to it early on.

LineRunner · 14/01/2015 15:39

Women can be misogynistic.

BreakingDad77 · 14/01/2015 15:37

Female judge as well WTH

Theoldhag · 14/01/2015 15:18

Fucking hell, anyone would think that we are in Victorian times. A child grooming an adult man of 44 ffs!

What is wrong with people?

CrispyFern · 14/01/2015 15:18

I don't mean to be funny but why is it always RE teachers?

scallopsrgreat · 14/01/2015 15:11

But that crime still carries a prison sentence. So there must have been the extenuating circumstances of her 'grooming' him that excused him.

Mengog · 14/01/2015 15:09

The only reason I pointed out the age is the offence is less serious. Which is most likely why he didn't go to prison.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 14/01/2015 14:55

I crossed out the wrong expression there! Blush

Yes this conniving cunt sorry victim was probably clever enough to wait until she was 16 before having sex. Not in control of his behaviour my arse Hmm

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 14/01/2015 14:53

She has fundamentally misunderstood the concept of grooming if she thinks a child can do it to an adult in a position of trust and responsibility.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/01/2015 14:53

Appalling. It doesn't matter what she did, if you can't manage to say no to a sixteen year old you're not up to being a teacher. It also sounds like it developed over time, so he had plenty of chances to back away / get help.

42bunnytails1 · 14/01/2015 14:49

16 or not, when they had sex, this 'affair' was clearly going on when she was 15/16 and therefore in Y11.

There is no grey area, she was a school child in his care! exactly when her birthday was is, morally, totally irrelevant.

scallopsrgreat · 14/01/2015 14:46

Who gives a fuck Mengog whether she was 15 or 16? She did not "groom" him. She was not in a position to "groom" him. And the fact that 'temptation' is even a word that is used between a 44 yr old man and a 16 yr old girl shows just how much men's behaviour is excused and blame is put on victims.

Why should/would a 44 yr old be 'tempted' by a school girl?
