109 women prosecuted for false rape claims in past 5 years

This made me so angry. The thousands of women that can't get justice for being raped due to 'lack of evidence' yet the CPS thinks it's ok to pursue these women for reporting their rape to the police. We all know how incredibly hard it is to report a rape and the facts speak for themselves, aprox 85,000 rapes a year, 5-15% are reported, of those reported rapes, only 6% get a conviction. This is a fucking travesty but it seems like it's easier to get a conviction for a false rape allegation than get a conviction for a devastating, life altering crime? Something is very wrong here...

Oh and last thing, false rape allegations are aprox 2% of all reported allegations, similar to other types of crime.

Just checked, they are all from "Festive". Is it still Buffy?

YonicScrewdriver · 03/12/2014 20:35

No, AICM. Into every generation, a Buffy is born. Just the one, though.

It's Christmas name season!

AICM · 03/12/2014 20:33

Are there two Buffys?

The last "Buffy" post is from BuffytheFestiveFeminist.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 03/12/2014 20:28

Buffy I think she's gone back to AIBU now. That hotbed of reasoned discourse and sensible discussion Hmm

".One of the women when she got to court admitted to not even knowing she had been raped."

And?

Many women who are raped, don't realise that what has just happened to them, is rape.

In so many heterosexual relationships, sex is defined as something in which a woman doesn't actually have to be actively participating, let alone enjoying. And so when a man rapes her and the whole of her society is telling her that rape is something that happens in a dark alleyway with a monster, not someone who looks like an average guy, of course many women don't make the connection and recognise rape when it happens to them.

OmnipotentQueenOfTheUniverse · 03/12/2014 20:02

You see women and girls are in a real bind aren't they.

Here is a poster who would presumably tell us that it would be "unfair" of us not to get in a cab with a man who we know is awaiting a trial for rape.

And yet in the event that man then raped you, how would society react? They'd say well what did you fucking expect?

This is the bind isn't it. Women and girls are continually told they MUST remain in / put themselves in situations with men they would rather not be in, as it is unfair to the men, and insulting to them, to do otherwise. And yet the moment something happens they are told unequivocally that it is their own fault and how did they not realise that this man was a rapist and get away oh well you must have been asking for it.

It's all bollocks isn't it.

LOL!

Of course not, the words Feminist Chat at the top of the thread you're commenting on is just a lie...

The feeling is mutual, Narnia.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 03/12/2014 19:49

Men who are convicted of rape - who are jailed for rape, even - don't have their lives ruined, never mind the ones who are accused of it. I don't buy this "mens' lives are ruined" thing.

Except apparently William Roach, who's life has been destroyed in some secret, not destroyed in any way sense by evil women. Does anyone know how long that bad bad person got for 'falsely accusing' him? and yes, I know, even the CPS believe her still

marnia68 · 03/12/2014 19:48

Actually I hadn't realisd I had strayed onto the feminist board.
there is no point trying to reason with you lot!

marnia68 · 03/12/2014 19:46

'Do you have daughters, marnia? How would you like them to be violated and then have everyone pick apart their lives looking for ways to put the blame on them, send them abuse and threats, cause them to have to change their identity and go into hiding? And that was the treatment meted out to a woman whose rapist was found guilty! '

What has that got to do with anything? They are 2 unrelated issues

and......... swerve around the question again... Hmm

YonicScrewdriver · 03/12/2014 19:44

Marnia, RTFT. It's been made very clear that serving on a jury brings the associated responsibilities and those of us who have served or will serve accept those .

'I don't have sons, but I do have a dh, a df, a db, and plenty of other men I care about.'

so you would happy for you dad (who was completely innocent) to be convicted , go to prison , be beaten up segregated and shunned for the rest of their lives , You wouldn't want to jurors to listen to his side of the story before making up their mind?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 03/12/2014 19:41

*belief... don't type and eat at the same time!

PuffinsAreFictitious · 03/12/2014 19:40

And, just in case you weren't aware, you were the one who mentioned him, not me.... maybe it's you bringing nothing to the discussion. Contrary to popular believe, this isn't a debating society.

OmnipotentQueenOfTheUniverse · 03/12/2014 19:39

I'm also interested in Narnia's response.
