Welcome!

This is the 14th incarnation of the Pub and is meant as a place to drop by with random thoughts and meandering chats, on feminist or other related themes. Anything you want to mull over but not necessarily start a thread about. Alternatively, flop onto the chaise lounges with some Wine

We have a pub goat, a feminist cannon for firing at crazy sexists and a variety of drinks and snacks. And stools/bar counters at female friendly heights. And a crèche in the back somewhere

I need a fluffy tv programme to watch. Are the Mrs Bradley Mysteries any good? If so I'll make DC go to bed now so I can watch.

Have planted my seeds. Hopefully will have coriander and basil and spring onions and rockets in a couple of weeks (or would that be longer? Confused) as long as the foxes and squirrels don't get pass my defences and dig them up.

Weird as it is to think there are any silver linings to getting all of my unwanted sexual contact out of the way by age seven... I've never had anyone victim blaming, either directly or indirectly. And, Buffy, did you mean imply, or have I been using infer incorrectly for the past two decades?

EE Flowers There are some truly horrible opinions being expressed on that thread. I suspect that at least some of the horrible opinions are being expressed by people who are themselves horrible. One in particular made me just want to gather up the victim of the original rape, hug her, and say "it was not your fault you were raped as a child." Then take the poster who was doing the victim blaming and... (well, let's just say I am not a pacifist).

I'm hibernating at home and not talking to anybody from now on. Even the DC make more sense. Which is something.

I will get on to seed-planting after picking up kids. Must also fox- and squirrel-proof the bloody things. That's where the old cot sides come in. Grin

Thanks Buffy - other FWR regulars are there and expressing it with much more eloquence and impact. Yes it is a particularly grim period, isn't it? In my little corner I am pleased that I can articulate myself a bit now, and that DH is having a sort of parallel feminist awakening - it makes for interesting discussions and helps me retain my sense of hope.

Ha - talking to some of the other donaters, and so far they're all as subversive as me! Skipping rope and ball will both be just toys rather than pink/bluified for example, no-one so far gets why they have to be boys and girls either (although, it seems some other parents won't feel the same way - the gossip is that there has been a girls only birthday party, and that there's a boys only one coming up).

Didn't get into see the secretary, but I'm there early tomorrow so will try again.

I know it's early but I just need a bit of respite - over shared on a rape thread and have got a bit upset about some of it. Sad I'm going to go back and have another go at discussion though, I need to practice getting a bit more resilient on this. I'm often more of a lurker in this area than a contributor, and I'm very glad you're here!

Annie I have signed up to run a half marathon next year, so am hoping that the training for that will be the kick up the bum I need to shift two stone.

I don't tweet, mostly because I am not often capable of saying things concisely. Why use 140 characters when 1400 words will do... But the other reason is that it does seem to attract a higher number of people who are more about offending people than actual discussion.

Oh, and also I have a limit to my social media capabilities alongside having a full-time job and so on. I've not been allocating enough time for sleep recently as it is.
