Big fat trigger warning. I've never seen such hyper sexualised violence agaisnt women in a music video before. And considering that's pretty much all videos now, I think that says a lot.

Sounds like friend zone song. - Oh dear, that reminds me of this:

Maroon 5 have lost their fucking minds.

Sounds like friend zone song. Presumably that escalates into the vile Animal song when she doesn't repay friend zone guy with the sex he's entitled to.

SuchSweetSorrow · 03/10/2014 13:09

Fucking hell!! Shock

I really struggled to watch that. Surely they can't play that on music channels?!

ChoochiWoo · 03/10/2014 13:08

Yea creepy nice guy is a good way of describing x

FuckOffFerret · 03/10/2014 13:04

Actually she will be loved could easily be called. "Creepy "nice Guy" song" Grin. The problem is that the choris is the only bit you think if and that sounds quite nice!

No, that's them. And while catchy...it's a bit iffy too.

Beauty queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else

I drove for miles and miles
And wound up at your door
I've had you so many times
But somehow, I want more

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile

And she will be loved
And she will be loved

Tap on my window, knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I know I tend to get so insecure
It doesn't matter anymore

It's not always rainbows and butterflies
It's compromise that moves us along, yeah
My heart is full, and my door's always open
You come anytime you want, yeah

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile

And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved

I know where you hide, alone in your car
Know all of the things that make you who you are
I know that goodbye means nothing at all
Comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls

Tap on my window, knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful

I don't mind spending every day
Out on your corner in the pouring rain, oh
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile

And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved

Please don't try so hard to say goodbye
Please don't try so hard to say goodbye

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain

Please don't try so hard to say goodbye

Yea its a been a while that 'she will be loved' am i thinking of a different song? Blush

kissmyheathenass · 03/10/2014 12:57

Very disturbing. Women as pieces of meat is what I see.

Shit song too.

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 03/10/2014 12:51

Jesus. Christ.

DoctorTwo · 03/10/2014 12:19

Hasn't Adam Latrine got form for this or am I mistaken?

Greyhound · 03/10/2014 12:03

I remember the furore about Frankie Goes To Hollywood's song "Relax" in the 1980s. How things have progressed since then - overt violence and sexual exploitation seems to be acceptable now :(

msrisotto · 03/10/2014 12:02

So gross. I like(d) their music too. It's beyond a sick joke how women are treated in music videos in particular but in media more generally.

kohl · 03/10/2014 11:23

Holy shit. What can we do?

BriarRainbowshimmer · 03/10/2014 11:08

Flora, I just read the article, that was enough for me. I really don't want to watch the actual video. Sad

Imagine if there was just ONE reversed type of video, there would be men raging and ranting about feminazis and women having gone too far, the SCUM manifesto would be brought up etc.

FuckOffFerret · 03/10/2014 11:01

Confused that video?

But isnt he saving her from a violent husband?

MrsCakesPrecognition · 03/10/2014 10:56

TBH they have form for this sort of crap. The video for Misery is a celebration of domestic violence.

FloraFox · 03/10/2014 10:55

That was far far worse than I was expecting after reading this thread. If anyone sees this broadcast on television, please post here so we can complain to Ofcom.

Greyhound · 03/10/2014 10:52

It's violent porn showing women as (a) pieces of meat (b) sex objects to be preyed upon and hunted down.

The men don't come out of it well either, but they are the ones doing the hunting and fantasising - v disturbing.

Puts into a rather nasty light the expression my Grannie used to say to describe how women should conduct themselves "Man is the hunter, woman is the hunter". She used to put my hackles up with that one.

ChoochiWoo · 03/10/2014 10:49

Thats a good point ferret.

FuckOffFerret · 03/10/2014 10:45

Kind of off topic, but kind of on topic.

Think about how "disgusting" menstrual blood is meant to be during sex for some men. And then look at that last scene where they're fucking covered in blood. If it was period blood would they have even been able to make the video? I bet it wouldn't be allowed.

iwantgin · 03/10/2014 10:41

Ugh. Awful.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 03/10/2014 10:32

It's simply irresponsible. They're just adding yet another piece of media that shows male violence against women in a "cool" way. Like we needed that?

PacificDogwood · 03/10/2014 10:08

Creepy. As. Fuck.
Visually and the lyrics.

What on earth were they thinking??
Is stalking 'fashionable' just now - what with the TV series an'all??
WTF.
