Reducing the male population by 90% will solve all our problems

So, will anyone be up for celebrating international castration day? The Femitheist, a 22 year old criminology student has been writing a book where she argues for a new future based upon conscious social controls, sex-selective abortions, development of dual-female progeny, single sex education, the eradication of the nuclear family, containment of the remaining men, and "Perfect girls will be conceived, developed, and engineered in state-owned breeding centres"

"I believe that conventional equality, with a 50/50 female-to-male ratio, is an inferior system. Essentially my ideas lead to men being made a special class – a far more valued class – having choice of a myriad of women due to the difference in sex ratio. That is my intention. Men would be made more valuable, and their quality of life would be dramatically improved. They would have a subsidised existence if you will, akin to going on an all-expenses paid vacation that lasts from birth to death"

This is worse than Plato and his loony republic. But could this really be worse than our current reality? I am just wondering what others think, is this really radical, completely bonkers, rational?

The one who wants 90% of male humans castrated and for the remaining 10% to be put into captivity to only be used for breeding and manual labour work.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 01/09/2014 13:18

Which feminist?

nasajedaco · 01/09/2014 13:05

If this feminist ever has male children they should be taken away by social services.

CaptChaos · 30/08/2014 20:54

Take it up with her then.

GlacindaTheTroll · 30/08/2014 15:10

"Wow. That's horrifying. How will the 90% be reduced? Sex selective termination, genetic engineering, murder? Horrible."

Maybe she wants a rerun of that enormous cull of young men, WW1? If so, very tasteless timing given the anniversary.

WhatWitchcraftIsThis · 30/08/2014 15:04

Brilliant story.

22 year old says something dumb. Feminists spend decades trying to undo damage by someone who has nothing to do with them and who will be mortified herself by the whole thing in 5 years time.

CaptChaos · 29/08/2014 14:18

I am distraught.

I must now go and console myself by speaking to the tooth fairy.

SolidGoldBrass · 29/08/2014 14:16

I'm so sorry CC. I also have to tell you that Father Christmas is a patriarchal conspiracy to make children grateful to the male Head Of The Household your parents.

CaptChaos · 29/08/2014 10:30

They were real SGB?

Next you're going to tell me that the earth is round and completely destroy my world view. Grin

SolidGoldBrass · 29/08/2014 09:59

There's really no need to be so upset. This has about as much likelihood of being taken properly seriously as all those pieces about how the Moon landings were faked.

CaptChaos · 29/08/2014 09:41

I don't know TheDeathOfRats, the woman that wrote the piece isn't a feminist, she doesn't speak for any feminists I know. There's nothing to worry about, women don't hold the reins of power.

One small point though, sex selective terminations happen all the time, as does sex selective murder. Odd that when it's suggested that that happens to male foetuses/neonates people get far more exercised about it all.....

TheDeathOfRats · 29/08/2014 01:55

Wow. That's horrifying. How will the 90% be reduced? Sex selective termination, genetic engineering, murder? Hmm Horrible.

nowehud · 29/08/2014 01:11

I don't believe it's a prank. The "SCUM manifesto" was written in full seriousness. It's shocking just what brainwashing can do to someone's mind.

nowehud · 29/08/2014 01:10

Let's see if I've understood this correctly- reduce the male population to 10% and then put them all in isolation and make them perform labour without pay. She may say it isn't slavery but IMO it sounds no different from a nazi work camp. It's like the "SCUM manifesto" all over again.

"But don’t men have value beyond breeding?
If technology has not advanced to a point where labour can be done without men"

According to this feminist, men are only useful for manual labour, and any job that requires brains must be done by a female.

"They will live out their lives happily and safely, and male disposability will be a thing of the past."

I don't think the 90% who got castrated against their will would agree.

SolidGoldBrass · 24/08/2014 23:51

This sounds like a prank, more than anything else. It might even be a group prank. It's the sort of thing I could at least concieve of doing, perhaps over a few beers with likeminded pals - the fun being in the number of people who you can induce to either wring their hands in anguish or poo with rage.

MiniTheMinx · 24/08/2014 23:51

Yes, I am wondering if she is doing the work of the MRAs. The idea are just so utterly bonkers it seems inconceivable that this is legitimate.

PacificDogwood · 24/08/2014 22:28

Is she a known troll?

CaptChaos · 24/08/2014 20:41

Well, that's 20 minutes of my life I shall never see again!

A lot of the comments were along the lines of 'Yeah! See! That's what we've been saying that feminazis have wanted all along' by people who are obviously too stupid to understand that this is not a utopia any rational person would subscribe to nor is it feminism of any stripe I'd be willing to sign up to. I like my DH as he is, thanks.

I'm sure I've read some of this shit before, from a while back. It gets quoted by the RoK, MGTOW, AVfM bunch of internet loons a lot.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 24/08/2014 20:37

She states on her youtube page that she is not a feminist.
MRAs of course think that this is a great example of what the evil feminists want.

Bifauxnen · 24/08/2014 20:08

The femitheist troll rises again.

tribpot · 24/08/2014 19:46

I think that this idea has been explored in fiction already - The Female Man, for example. Also I think Naomi Mitchinson and Ursula K LeGuin have riffed off it too.

Unfortunately they made the mistake of writing actual books instead of making up mad stuff for a university essay (who among us hasn't done that, I ask you).

As a theory to challenge preconceptions - fine, if you must. But beyond that it's just shock-tactic guff.

DurhamDurham · 24/08/2014 19:42

Sounds like an especially hideous version on 1984.

If it is all going to be so socially engineered how are any of us going to be better off? Complete and utter nonsense.

Castlemilk · 24/08/2014 19:37

Oof, someone has been smacked by the bonkers stick Confused

SevenZarkSeven · 24/08/2014 19:29

I found it interesting that she said "Children must be provided a proper education, a sex-separated education that will focus on developing real-world skills and capacities for concept building. They will be taught the reality of true equality, production, labour, and will be provided a better understanding of sexuality, ..."

While at the same time glibly saying oh well loads of women will be happy to become lesbians and anyway we can genetically engineer sexuality.

Righto then!

grimbletart · 24/08/2014 19:06

The trouble with a nut job like this is that our friends the MRAs and anti-feminists will seize on her stupid views as illustrating what feminists want.

Do I want a world where men are treated like this? No. Do I want to be persuaded to try out lesbianism. No. Sorry nut job I simply don't fancy women. I happen to like my DH and the my family and a female ghetto doesn't cut it for me, or I suspect, for the majority of feminists.
