Why the fucking fuck is that rapist Ched Evans being released anyway?

I thought that in order to get parole, the minimum you had to do was admit that you are actually guilty of the crime for which you've been imprisoned?

But Evans the rapist hasn't admitted that he's a rapist. He keeps saying he's innocent.

So why is he being released?

Is this normal now?

Do all prisoners automatically get early release for good behaviour even if they keep saying they didn't actually do the crime, therefore proving that the one thing that used to be a necessity for early release - remorse - is definitely missing?

Again, don't base your judgement on the 'evidence' taken from a website set up by Evans relatives.

The full CCTV images (the ones seen by the judge and jury) show the victims falling over inside a kebab shop. Falling over outside a kebab shop. Stumbling around. Squatting down. Oh and leaving her handbag inside the kebab shop and walking away. It is obvious that she is VERY drunk.

But Evans the Rapist's vile family aren't going to let you see that, are they?

lezuvucaje · 15/08/2014 03:19

What if he really is innocent??

lezuvucaje · 15/08/2014 03:11

From www.chedevans.com/judge-for-yourself

"On the run up to the trial the mainstream popular press claimed that video footage showed the complainant being carried, hopelessly drunk, into the Premier Inn by two men."

Yet there is CCTV footage available from 2 different angles (which you can see on the above link) showing the complainant walking (stably IMO) into the Premier Inn in high wedges.

Hup

There's a fair chance it will be denied again.

Hup · 15/08/2014 00:31

AB I posted a link earlier and his legal team have applied to the criminal review people with evidence from some independent company that have new evidence (or something along those lines). If the new evidence adds any 'concerns' then it goes to court. It was in the newspaperin the last few weeks.
I hope it does not get granted.

Hup
Ched Evans hasn't been granted leave to appeal - we are a way away from any of his ideas making it to court.

BOFster · 15/08/2014 00:15

Thanks Pan.

Panwearsamagicjersey · 15/08/2014 00:11

BOF - greetings! My eyes are closing right now, but yes if course, I'll post or PM you - it's complex, BUT the time spent in prison prior to release is tricky to guess, when a risk assessment is involved, and the Parole Board do wish to take into account most peoples investment. It also depends IF there is a victim voice, officially.
Be in touch tomorrow? Night.

Hi Pan- I'm really interested in what you're saying about indeterminate sentences. Do you have any links which outline your position a bit more, or have you got time to elaborate more here?

The reason it interests me is that I knew a person who was definitely your standard Pillar Of The Community type who received such a sentence after some really horrific crimes against women. I naively thought it meant he would more or less be locked up for life, but on re-reading the newspaper reports, it looks like he could be released as little as three years into his sentence (round about now, I guess). It really worries me that somebody who was clearly such a consummate liar in the past will be able to pull the wool over the eyes of whoever decides if he is fit for release. I'm actually quite scared about it, tbh, especially as I don't think there will be any announcement made publicly if/when he gets out.

Can you tell me any more about how it works? And is there anybody I can make a statement to about his capacity for deception, and would it make any difference?

AlpacaYourThings · 14/08/2014 23:45

Tis all very convincing

Hmm
Panwearsamagicjersey · 14/08/2014 23:31

Authentic stuff, eh?

AlpacaYourThings · 14/08/2014 23:29

It's a website with various hits of "evidence" about how Ched is innocent. Such as, 'he couldn't be guilty he fed chips to seagulls and rapists don't do that'. Hmm

Panwearsamagicjersey · 14/08/2014 23:24

To get an indeterminate sentence, the bar is quite high < I could bore anyone senseless on this, as it's a passion of mine, as it would protect better girls and women, other vulnerable groups eg those with learning difficulties, racist victims, elderlies> and as the law stands he wasn't eligible for it. But in Pan-world he would be, with a slight tweak of sentencing practice.

I haven't seen the sites you mention - imagination is enough.

AlpacaYourThings · 14/08/2014 23:21

Agree CaptChaos the website is disgusting. His girlfriend comes across as very naive.

CaptChaos · 14/08/2014 23:14

No... but, as you say, convictions for rape are not likely, no matter how good the evidence is. Christ, even getting a rape case to court is a miracle on a par with Lourdes, the Holy Father should probably be on stand by to beatify any silk who manages to secure a conviction? apologies, I find dark humour helps me on days when the memories flood back

Indeterminate sentences are probably a good thing, especially where it can be shown that the offender is likely to repeat his offence, as tends to be the case with rapists and peadophiles.

I am pretty sure I'm on solid ground with the peadophiles bit of that, from my forensics rotation. Not 100% on the rapists though.

The more I read of that awful website though.... rape myths a go-go. His victim was this, she did that, she enjoyed sex with other people, liked a drink, the insinuation that she was a coke head.... it's like they've gone across to allwomenlie.com and copied it all verbatim.

Panwearsamagicjersey · 14/08/2014 23:02

not by conviction though Capt - they may repeat offend, but, as we know, securing a conviction at all is a minefield.

CaptChaos · 14/08/2014 22:55

I have no doubt that he will do it again. I seem to remember reading that rapists rarely do it the once, they tend to be serial offenders. I know both the man who raped me when I was 15 and my exH were anyway.

I'm quite prepared to be proved wrong there though.

Panwearsamagicjersey · 14/08/2014 22:49

Well, yes APT, but given his sentence, the law indicates he gets released. On the positive side...the people who will be supervising him will be v atuned to working with an unconstituted rapist, and, I'd suspect someone with his profile will mess up..and place himself at risk of recall. I'd guess.

AlpacaYourThings · 14/08/2014 22:40

Surely the fact he doesn't even recognise what he has done is rape means that he is still a risk to society?!

His family have had stickers and tshirts made with he face and 100% innocent on them, FFS.
