Anybody see this? It was just horrific. I really, really hope it reached the right audience: punters and their defenders. I doubt it, but I hope so Sad

Beach - it's not a service or job currently. I was saying that in a world where it were legal that is how it would be viewed.

FloraFoxForAnyFucker · 26/10/2013 09:25

bale what does lol mean? I'm assuming it doesn't mean "laughs out loud" because that would be weird in this context.

Nothing that is made illegal is stopped entirely. Not even murder. It is not necessary to prove that making the purchase of sex illegal would eliminate all prostitution.

Your statements about liking the Nordic model but supporting decriminalisation are nonsensical. The Nordic model is the criminalisation of the purchase of sex. Any decriminalisation negates this entirely.

Yougotbale · 26/10/2013 09:24

Buffy - it was conscious. It was Just for clarification.

Beachcomber · 26/10/2013 09:24

This is just the same as wino's reams of studies.

There is no honest discussion of the gendered nature of prostitution.

The vast majority of prostituted people are girls and women. The vast majority of punters are men. The vast majority of pimps and traffickers are men. The institution of prostitution is massively sexist, racist and ageist. It is not a "service industry" it is a sexist system of exploitation and abuse. It is violence against women and a major human rights issue.

Men who argue for it should try it. They should try being penetrated by hundreds of men they do not desire and then come back and lecture to us women how being penetrated all day by men you do not desire is a "job", "a service", not harmful.

Has the entitled complacency meter exploded yet?

Yougotbale · 26/10/2013 09:19

Sab - lol. It's not an argument lol
We both agree the current method isn't working. No method proposed has and will stop all prostitution. You haven't come up with any ideas that would do this.
I said, from what I had the chance to read, I like the Nordic model. It's after the fact but decriminalisation is a positive way of opening up communication with the authorities.

I do like your your new posting style anyway

SabrinaMulFUCKERJjones · 26/10/2013 09:16

People were assuming it would only be legal for women.

No they weren't.

FloraFoxForAnyFucker · 26/10/2013 09:15

I'm not sure what you mean by "that's where it's open to abuse" but no it couldn't potentially protect women in the industry, not in any way whatsoever. Please do some research and try to think this through.

Buffy - I went from using the word 'prostitute' to 'men and women'. People were assuming it would only be legal for women. The position was described as mysoginistic rather than a method of policing all prostitution. I don't reckon it would ever happen in the UK though.
I'm not sure how you would get rid of prostitution, globally.

SabrinaMulFUCKERJjones · 26/10/2013 09:07

Biscuit for bale.

Why not do some more research bale? Sharpen up your argument a bit? You sound a bit out of your depth.

I think that's where it's open to abuse, flora, unfortunately. It could potentially protect men and women in the industry but I see how it may encourage people to enter the industry either as workers or punters.

FloraFoxForAnyFucker · 26/10/2013 03:09

Is it fuck about trying to take back control. It's about trying to make sure men can still fuck women who don't want to fuck them.

Yougotbale · 26/10/2013 02:17

Ok maybe 'service industry' insights the wrong emotions. I wasnt shore which current industry group it would fall under if it were legalised.
The point was it would be viewed differently. It's more about trying to take back some control, provide regulation and safety/help for the men and women in the industry.

Yougotbale · 26/10/2013 01:58

If it was legalised, how should you describe it?

IMO

Yougotbale · 26/10/2013 01:51

When - I don't view as that but potentially it could be if it was legalised. It would need a completely new view on sex, not the religious one we have now. It would mainly protect people in the industry, prevent people unwillingly entering it.

What it doesn't deal with is preventing it. It works on the basis of making the best of a bad hand, IME.
It's tough because either way, i think there will be someone being taken advantage of

Beachcomber · 26/10/2013 01:50

"It would be a service industry"

WTAF?

Yougotbale do you have any idea about the extent to which prostitution is controlled by organized crime?

I thought not.

Trans and men would get the license too. It depends how you view sex I suppose. It would be a service industry where men and women could opt in to. It depends if you view prostitutes unequal

Beachcomber · 26/10/2013 01:39

Oh great, we have yet more men on the thread who wish to argue for women to be made available for entitled men to entitledly fuck.

Try it. Do it. Put your arse on the line. And then get back to Us.

The Nordic model is humane and civilized and doing the best it can to address the huge barrier to gender equality that prostitution is a manifestation of. Anything else is misogyny, women as second class if not nonclass - existing as defined by men in a system created by men for men.

And wino, what the fuck are you harping on about? You have come on here and pontificated endlessly about what a jolly situation prostituting oneself is and how wrong we are to object to it, and now you finally admit that you are only interested in a tiny minority of (white) western women for whom other choices are readily available and realistic. What a huge fucking irrelevant waste of time that was.

And you still haven't addressed the gendered nature of prostitution or got back to us on what it is like for you to put your money where your mouth is and actually fucking well do it yourself rather than just sitting in the comfort of your armchair with your male privilege arguing that women should do it whilst having the fucking gall to make out like you know better than actual real live women what it is like for us to experience penetration we do not want.

The stupid. It hurts. The entitlement. It hurts.

All your posts are totally fucking irrelevant to actual real live prostitution as it is practiced globally in the world today.

HTH.
