Aw, what a lovely thing to do. I think it's really important, because the volume of support must matter a lot when you're doing something so strongly opposed by the people around you - I hope she is getting lots of messages of support from all over the world.

Sent Wendy the link to this thread. Though god knows that's the last thing she'll have time for...

TheDoctrineOfAllan · 26/06/2013 18:50

Thank you Wendy.

AntoinetteCosway · 26/06/2013 18:40

You're right mme. You did set me off

GoshAnneGorilla · 26/06/2013 17:05

Trying not to cry reading this on the bus. Wendy Davis is amazing.

GrumpyKat · 26/06/2013 16:57

I have just emailed Wendy. I think she needs to hear the voices of support from around the world- we are watching, and we are applauding.

What a day for US politics!

After yesterday's SCOTUS ruling on voting I had little hope today regarding DOMA. Thank fuck I was wrong.

The US fight over abortion will never end.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 26/06/2013 16:31

MmeLindor Thanks for that.

I went to bed last night thinking Wendy had lost her valiant fight. Then I woke up this moring to see she had, in fact, won. And then that SCOTUS had declared DOMA unconstitutional. My cup runneth over.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 26/06/2013 16:26

One of my favorite moments was when, at a lull in the shouts from the gallery, a lone woman's voice called out: "We are the people!"

MmeLindor · 26/06/2013 16:25

I am going to set you all off again with this story of the woman who challenged Defence of Marriage Act, which has just been ruled as unconstitutional

Ah she is fabulous! I was actually looking for a good feminist middle name for DD2 (in utero) Wendy has just made the list.Grin

And absolutely bloody fabulous job the protesters and the rest of the democrats there did. So many people who stood up and fought.

MmeLindor · 26/06/2013 15:51

Love the Wonkette piece.

Next time someone says Politicians Are Only In It For Themselves, I will say 'Wendy Davis'.

Just amazing.

FreedomOfTheTess · 26/06/2013 15:18

Scalia is reading his dissent statement.

Won't be any other decisions for a while then!

edam · 26/06/2013 15:12

Love your link, Wonkette, very witty.

ThirdTimesABrokenFanjo · 26/06/2013 15:11

domas been struck down! im so excited by my country thisweek

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/06/2013 15:01

Next time someone tells me that it is not worth voting, I will sit them down for a LONG lecture on why there are a few, a minority, a tiny amount of politicians who are awesome. Wonderful Wendy Davis. I was sniffing back tears telling DH about it this morning.

scallopsrgreat · 26/06/2013 14:54

And that is a brilliant feature in Wonkette!

scallopsrgreat · 26/06/2013 14:52

Your aunt is amazing Freedom! Good on her.

tobiasfunke · 26/06/2013 14:50

Now that is the sort of politician we need.

Good on you Wendy.

GibberTheMonkey · 26/06/2013 14:49

Love it freedom

FreedomOfTheTess · 26/06/2013 14:35
