Needless to say MRAs are throwing abuse at her on MRA sites Angry

What if the man had cut out in front of her?

That's what gets me Widow, she thinks it was a mistake to send the tweet, but she has not said it was a mistake to injure another person using her car or fail to stop afterwards.

I'm not reading the DM but assuming this is the Emma Way case that was over online news sources a couple of weeks ago the issue was that she

  • knocked a cyclist over and didn't stop (leaving scene of traffic accident is illegal)
  • then boasted about it on Twitter
  • and spouted ignorant crap about road tax (there's no such thing as road tax)
  • all this following a history (as revealed from her Twitter account before it was deleted) of texting and using her mobile phone while at the wheel

All of that is pretty uncontroversially bad stuff whether the cyclist cut out in front of her or not . That only affects whether she was unreasonable/criminal to have hit him in the first place. She complains that the public have only had "one man's side of the story" but the incident had gone viral before Toby Hockley was even identified, still less had publically commented -- the public condemnation she got was based entirely on her own "side of the story" before she realised that it was making her look bad.

I'm not surprised that MRA have picked up on it as it's pretty typical for them to start commenting whenever a woman does anything wrong -- but that doesn't mean that it's actually a FWR issue and it doesn't mean that she wasn't wrong..

Reading the beeb story the tweet was the least bad thing she's done. Knocking a cyclist off their bike without stopping is disgusting, and sadly not uncommon.

quote:Pussy pass again. How would the police treat a man who knocked a woman off a bike and then boasted about it? The "violence against women" mania would set in and he'd be arrested and charged with multiple matters (dangerous driving, speeding, failure to report an accident, etc.). However, the woman just gets asked to report the accident ('RTC') as she should have done in the first place.

Also, tweeting whilst driving rightfully carries a fine and points.

why is this a gendered issue? If she is boasting about deliberately knocking a cyclist of his or her bike then she shouldn't be surprised about people getting angry at her, and her gender or sex is irrelevant.

Of course, if she gets gendered insults that's another story. However "idiot driver endangers other people's lives" doesn't make me feel sorry for the idiot driver at all.
