F4J ahhhhhhhh...............no logic, no discussion, no appreciation of complexity of issues.........ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their whole argument rests on the idea that women hold all the power in any situation because to crticise them would be politically incorrect but it is not politically incorrect to criticise men, apparently, how jolly unfair!! Yes it's equality gone mad, according to them, ignoring the rather obvious fact that such maddening equality has not led to women being equal in almost any other sphere in society. How strange. No matter what reasonable argument you use, their response is always to make things intensely personal, "well my horrible wife did this blah blah" and they cannot wait to tell you that they have to pay maintenance even though the mother gets all the child benefit!! Outrageous!! No sense of thank goodness the benefits system has kicked in to help me and my ex as we now have to support two households instead of one and if it wasn't for the benefits system then I would have to pay my ex-wife even more maintenance!

F4J................aaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 04/07/2012 23:39

Not to mention the dungarees messy

messyisthenewtidy · 04/07/2012 22:24

Crackfox I was thinking more "FEMINISTS! the musical". Lots of jazz hands and when we lift our arms to the big "tadah!" in the finale, rows of hairy armpits will reveal themselves. Grin

MildewMayhew · 04/07/2012 22:23

Why does the Green Arrow always get forgotten in Superhero costumes? Or Flash? :( F4J are missing out if they don't know of these characters...

AllYoursBabooshka · 04/07/2012 22:18

Amazing indeed!

I'm packing DPs bags as we speak! I'll throw in a super hero costume for him just in case, Which one do you think is best Batman or Superman?

:o

Scarredbutnotbroken · 04/07/2012 22:09

Why yes! Doesn't everybody know about contact blocking credits? You just fill a form in at the job centre and the cash floods in its amazing!

AllYoursBabooshka · 04/07/2012 22:02

Scarredbutnotbroken

According to what they wrote on their FB page not to long ago you are withholding contact for all "The free money" you get for him not being there!

Clearly stopping contact is some sort of get rich quick scheme, How did I not know about this? You must be rich!

Ponders · 04/07/2012 21:54

you can sum up their FB page as "EVERYBODY ELSE IS WRONG, WRONG, WRONG"

none of them ever seems to have an independent thought. they just agree with each other incessantly. very dull.

(of course if anybody dares to post an opposing view that post is instantly deleted. I forgot Grin)

VivaLeBeaver · 04/07/2012 21:53

Fantastic. I told the idiots at the time they'd get in trouble for that ad.

TheCrackFox · 04/07/2012 21:50

FEMINISTS The Opera has a certain ring to it.

F4J are so inept they have set their cause back by decades. Bunch of numpties.

I hate f4j too. Even the bloke who set it up managed to sort out contact amicably with his ex eventually.

I am one of those mothers who has withheld contact - for very good reasons. I doubt there are many mums who do it for kicks

MiniTheMinx · 04/07/2012 21:23

I can't speak for all MNs but I have certainly never rushed over to F4J and started SHOUTING at them.

mododd · 04/07/2012 20:56

F4J is absolutely abhorrent, branding mumsnet extreme male bashing feminists when they are acting like women hating so and so's themself will achieve nothing

Fantastic post Mini!

MiniTheMinx · 04/07/2012 13:17

I don't personally go in for or support the institution of marriage or even the idea of the nuclear family which I believe simply upholds patriarchy under capitalism. Making complex legal arrangements prior to marriage would be difficult because circumstances change, antagonisms arise and people develop different needs and aspirations over time.

It has always been the case that men have sought to impose control over women's reproductive capacity and they have created the means through marriage and dna tests to ensure their progeny is theirs alone. Is a father someone who sows the seeds or the one who brings in the harvest? If a man, any man has played an important part in parenting a child, over a long period of time where that child has a bond with that person, it is right that the courts take this into consideration. From everything I have read and know of the family courts, men are in the main gaining ground and being able to impose their demands quite well enough. But do I support the rights of violent men or men too silly to take charge of their own contraception to make demands? If men are to have full equal rights, it might include forcing a women to continue with a pregnancy she doesn't want outside of a relationship with that man.

tethersend · 04/07/2012 13:05

I think there should be a separate FEMINISTS topic.

messyisthenewtidy · 04/07/2012 12:32

I like it Tethers .... "FEMINISTS!, at a movie theatre near you!"

messyisthenewtidy · 04/07/2012 12:28

Yes to what Ponders said also. A lot of those quotes were actually referring to F4J and their attack, not at all about men in general or directed at an innocent little boy as that hideous poster inferred.

And yes to the prenups idea or at least some kind of mediation. I think it should also extend to the division of labour within the marriage; who expects what and who expects who to give up their career, who performs what in terms of housework and child care and bringing home the bacon I really think that would save a lot of divorces from happening.

Ponders · 04/07/2012 12:19

You seem to be a new poster, Rhys. Are you a member of F4J by any chance?

The words/comments quoted by F4J were about specific men, not males as a sex.

Do you have a problem understanding that?
