Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

AIBU to think that scoffing lemon drizzle cake and shagging toyboys is a feminist act?

Because I enjoy doing both and I'm a self-declared feminist, so it must be, right?

Or is that just a fucking stupid way to look at the world?

Because just because you think you're a feminist and you like doing something, that doesn't mean that every single thing you ever do, from eating cornflakes to dancing the tango, is feminist.

It's lacking in critical thinking and common sense, to think it is.

IMO.

DH does the ironing in the house of SLTS :smug: You people have really missed the boat on feminism, everyone knows it's about enslaving men and making them do all the boring houseworky stuff.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 22/03/2012 00:09

For my wedding we served up many m&s chocolate cakes.

FrothyDragon · 22/03/2012 00:04

HAHA!

Sunshine, you have made my day...

May do a bake sale, for my local refuge, serving vagina cupcakes... ;)

sunshineandbooks · 21/03/2012 23:55

cake for the menz apparently Hmm

Empowerfulizing feministy cake - innit

Although I prefer this Grin

Dworkin · 21/03/2012 23:40

I'm going to sleep now. Obviously my dreams will include in an anti feminist backlash a fluffy, lacy covered strap in the shape of dark fluffy chocolate in which I consume in a feminist empowering way, without any abuse whatsoever. I'm in control. Yay.

And he's younger, so much younger he could be my son. Yay! Empowering or wot? Sex. Yay. SEXXXay.

CrunchyFrog · 21/03/2012 23:35

It's totally anti-feminist to eat cake without first making sure that the whole sisterhood have access to equal cake. Some poor feminists have NO CAKE. NONE. WOE.

Also, sometimes men don't get cake Sad Poor menz.

FrothyDragon · 21/03/2012 23:20
Wink

I'm a comic feminist genius.

sunshineandbooks · 21/03/2012 23:03

'feministing sleep'

Love it! Grin

FrothyDragon · 21/03/2012 23:02

I'm off to make a feministy cup mug of hot chocolate, in my feministy Doctor Who mug, and read Catching Fire in a very feminist manner, then go to feministing sleep...

sunshineandbooks · 21/03/2012 22:59

I have just done an hour and a half of ironing as a feminist statement.

That the sort of thing you mean? Grin

AliceHurled · 21/03/2012 22:26

Yay sex whoop! Sex is the bestest way to be a feminist! Yay whoop.

Careful Basil, else you'll be judged as Prim. Yes: PRIM.

And it's a bloody nightmare finding pearls to clutch, and pussybow blouses to don, and half moon spectacles to blink over...

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/03/2012 22:09

I have not more red wine

I may pour myself a glass of absent DHs white in a box.

In a feminist way

dollymixtures · 21/03/2012 21:59

I have drunk wine, lovely red wine...and now I might have some more Grin

BasilFoulTea · 21/03/2012 21:57

Ryvitas? Low sugar Jam? No cake AT ALL?!!

Handmaidens, all of you Grin

dollymixtures · 21/03/2012 21:47

Well that's as maybe Basil, but light-hearted suggestive jollity is very definitely not a feminist act.

I am watching 'She-wolves' and eating no cake at all

iklboo · 21/03/2012 21:42

Ryvita, with Philadelphia & low sugar jam. Cheat's cheesecake. Nearly cake.

TheSmallClanger · 21/03/2012 21:33

Lemon drizzle cake may be all well and good for you, but stop OPPRESSING those of who can't stand it, and actively prefer eating Ryvitas and cream cheese. Yes, you can be a feminist and eat Ryvita! We aren't silly weak brainwashed by the patriarchy cracker fiends...

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 21/03/2012 21:32

I made feminist chocolate cake, and then went out leaving my husband to wash all the bowls etc. I consider this a feminist act of extreme feminist proportions. That'll teach DH .... something.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/03/2012 21:31

I married my toy boy

I am drinking wine as a feminist act.

Fecking DH/Toyboy is away atm, doing a course on how to fix helecopters.

This means I have had to look after children (he has been doing the lions share for the last couple of years, while I commute)

Hence the feminist wine.

Grumpla · 21/03/2012 21:31

My toyboy bought me un grande tranche of Feminist Brie for Mothers Day. It was so feminist it wasn't even pasteurised. OMNOMNOM.

Grumpla · 21/03/2012 21:30

Phew, thanks Frothy, I was getting worried there...

iklboo · 21/03/2012 21:10

I would eat cranberry & orange drizzle cake off toyboy DH, but hairs in your cake are eeeeew & it'd probably set off his eczema anyway.
