Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

AIBU to think that scoffing lemon drizzle cake and shagging toyboys is a feminist act?

Because I enjoy doing both and I'm a self-declared feminist, so it must be, right?

Or is that just a fucking stupid way to look at the world?

Because just because you think you're a feminist and you like doing something, that doesn't mean that every single thing you ever do, from eating cornflakes to dancing the tango, is feminist.

It's lacking in critical thinking and common sense, to think it is.

IMO.

I've been scoffing Peanut (harking back to the old nickname...) Feministy M & M's. It's the eating woman's Dworkin.

I'm also watching Herbie; Feministly Loaded. And about to do the feministing housework. Whilst listening to some feministing emo music. And singing in the most feminist manner possibly.

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 22/03/2012 13:40

I've just slopped my lunch down my t-shirt, this is a feminist act even though it was an accident.

ComradeJing · 22/03/2012 12:31

Sunshine :o

WilsonFrickett · 22/03/2012 11:52

I've been to Tesco and bought a food processor, but it's OK because I'll be mostly making feminist cake with it. After the toyboy shows me how to work it as the instructions are too hard for my fwuffy brain

Sleep, Messy?!? REAL feminists don't sleep. We spend all night being woken up by small snotty nosed feminists who despite being only four weeks old have worked out a brilliant way to smash the patriarchy except they can't talk so they can't explain it to us.

Then we cry a few feminist tears and make our poor toyboys take the tiny feminist out in his pram so we can go back to bed.

But we can't sleep, due to having imbibed too much feminist caffeine.

Aaaaaarggghhhhh!!!!

sunshineandbooks · 22/03/2012 10:45

Ooh, Mooncup, you've given me an idea. Grin We could start our own T-shirt range with feministy slogans on a la that well-known feminist champion L'Oreal:

"I ate a chocolate muffin - because I'm worth it" Grin

MooncupGoddess · 22/03/2012 10:40

I've just consumed a feminist chocolate truffle made by a (probably feminist) female colleague, 'Cos, as a feminist, I'm worth it.

sunshineandbooks · 22/03/2012 10:36

For Comrade Grin

(though it's kind of lost its punch now due to the time lag)

OptimisticPessimist · 22/03/2012 10:34

I have feministly taken my children to their various (sadly probably non-feminist) educational establishments and I am now having a feminist cup of tea with an even more feminist KitKat.

After this thread I may feministly invite my toyboy over later. Is it more feminist if said toyboy (who has previously declared feminism to be definct Hmm) started a conversation last night about how it was silly for anti-rape campaigns to be aimed at women, why had no-one thought to aim them at men?! I nearly fell off my chair in surprise.

lesley33 · 22/03/2012 10:09

No if they chose to have fun then its a feminist choice. Cause feminism is all about choices isn't it Smile

AAAARRRRGGGHHH!

WilsonFrickett · 22/03/2012 09:47

In other news, reports are coming in that some feminists had some fun on a MumsNet thread last night. Don't they know this is the sort of thing that gives feminism a bad name?

dollymixtures · 22/03/2012 09:42

I'm introducing DD to concepts of patriachal power within heteromonogamous relationship structures by watching Ms Piggy singing "what now my love" on the muppets dvd. I'm also drinking a feminist cup of tea. oOooh Candice Bergen has just turned up (on the dvd, not in real life) and is doing a skit on how womens work is never done and has just attacked a redneck muppet with a shotgun Shock

Grin
GeekCool · 22/03/2012 09:26

Well I'm reading the feminism topic whilst drinking feministy coffee at work (which in itself is a feminist statment and has fuck all to do at all with paying of any household bills).

SinicalSanta · 22/03/2012 09:10

I had a row with dh over lunch boxes this morning.

That's the sort of thing that give feminism a bad name.

AbigailAdams · 22/03/2012 09:03

Well I am lying in bed with eldest DS watching CBeebies. How much more feministy can you get? Younger DS is sleeping - dreaming of infiltrating the patriarchy and crushing or from the inside no doubt (he's 5 mnths old - but ambitious).

CrunchyFrog · 22/03/2012 08:51

I snored like a big fat man in order to ensure Equality. Grin

Then I made the children make their own breakfasts like every day so I wasn't oppressed.

Hurrah!

AliceHurled · 22/03/2012 08:46

I had a nightmare that resulted in me waking the house with a blood curdling scream! I'm pretty sure though it was a feminist response to patriarchy. So it must have been a feminist act. I've now had a shower with lots of lovely lady products that have made me feel all empowered. Tis great! Two pieces of world changing already today Grin

messyisthenewtidy · 22/03/2012 08:41

Morning Smile how was everyone's feministing sleep?

ComradeJing · 22/03/2012 08:04

I can't follow the link sunshine :(

It's clearly a feminist conspiracy. :o

sunshineandbooks · 22/03/2012 07:45

tongue stcking out emoticon aimed at ComradeJing Grin

ComradeJing · 22/03/2012 00:45

Also, I think of myself as a self declared feminist and I think this discussion of cake is really alienating other self declared feminists. It's too controversial. Bloody radfem feminazis.

ComradeJing · 22/03/2012 00:42

WHY are you silly girls discussing cake? Surely you have better things to discuss? Why are you worrying about your middle class cake when you should be worrying about something more worthwhile like the lack of hot chocolate in third world countries? You and your cake, you don't know how lucky you are.
