Male sexual response - netdoctor article making me feel uneasy

I just read this article about the male sexual response, written by two healthcare professionals on a website written by doctors aimed at providing medical information to the public.

It made me feel uneasy, especially the final sentence - the warning to women. What do you think of it? Am I being irrational?

What about gays ? ...or are they just an urban legend?

Nothing about gays /lesbians , so they can't be having sex then ? Hmm

LRDtheFeministDragon · 25/11/2011 14:02

Ewwww. What a horrible view of the human race.

Isn't it sick that a man (or a teenage boy, who might actually look up such an article and want some advice) could actually conclude he was abnormal for not wanting to treat women like fuck holes? Sick.

(As an aside, I really wonder about men thinking about sex more than women ... men are told to think about sex all the time.)

sakura · 25/11/2011 13:53

men think more about sex than women that is true. Although to be fair, I think that the state of marriage is unnatural, and is designed to benefit men (men designed it after all!) , so I think that it's normal for a husband to want sex with his wife more frequently than she does. It doesn't mean her sex drive is lower than his, it's just means that under normal circumstances would probably move onto the next man but she is stuck. It's biologically sound for women to procreate with more than one man, so as not to put all their evolutionary eggs in one basket.

fewcloudy · 25/11/2011 13:53

Just to be clear, we don't like this because it's offensive to men right? Good...

nethunsreject · 25/11/2011 12:37

That is vile and very insulting to men too.

And contradictory.

And bull.

JeremyVile · 25/11/2011 12:29

You can just imagine some dribbly-cocked div sitting his girlfriend down in front of the computer to show her this page when she comlplains about him treating her like a fucktoy.

TheLastChocolate · 25/11/2011 12:24
Confused

Not good at all! I think if I were a man I'd be horrified at being spoken about this way, but as a women I think that I know many many men who aren't running about paying prostitutes for sex, sticking their bits into any available female hole etc.

LePruneDeMaTante · 25/11/2011 11:42

Oh god it's David Delvin! (I always thought that was a horrific name for a gynaecologist.) He is a friend of an ex's dad and apparently is quite bonkers.
And not much of a fan of men?

LePruneDeMaTante · 25/11/2011 11:39

You know, I'm not a hysterical person - I am quite 'devil's advocate' most of the time - but that article made me cry.

What a totally fucking depressing view of men. They're so driven they'll stick it in any of your holes, and more fool you for not understanding this. Jesus.

lampli · 25/11/2011 11:34

The people who wrote the article are mad as a box of frogs. He used to do a sex problem page for a magazine about 25-30 years ago and even as a child I could recognise it as a load of misogynistic shite. The couple are also married, which makes me Hmm

AnyFucker · 25/11/2011 00:04

That is a very funny spoof site

Oh...

JustRedbin · 24/11/2011 23:54

Anywhere else I'd have thought they were trolling.

KateMiddIeton · 24/11/2011 23:46

What a load of old shite. What evidence are they basing those dubious assumptions on? Very poor and deeply sexist and offensive.

Btw MoreBeta if you take off the last line of your summary of accuracy I'd agree with you. Grin

LeBOF · 24/11/2011 23:43

Oh, it was a perfunctory effort- I'm watching a movie and couldn't be arsed formulating it properly:

I would like to register my disgust at the sexism displayed by the author of this page www.netdoctor.co.uk/sex_relationships/facts/malesexualresponse.htm

It is almost comedic in its assumptions, shows no research to back up its frankly ridiculous assertions, and ends on a disturbingly sinister note.

Please bear in mind that your readers deserve more than this casual misogyny, and the presentation of unsubstantiated prejudice and opinion as medical fact.

Sincerely,
Etc

difficulttimes · 24/11/2011 23:39

I think its meant to be comical Hmm

what did you put in the letter LeBOF?

I doubt anyone would take it seriously. (the article not letter)

irnbruguzzler · 24/11/2011 23:12

omg!

what a load of shite

it doesnt even make sense, one minute it says they are hell bent on procreative sex the next that they also want/need blow jobs/anal

maybe the authors are mingers who are looking for other reasons why their dps dont want to shag them

KRITIQ · 24/11/2011 22:56

Actually, any chance someone hacked the site and put that bilge on there "for a larf?" I mean honestly, how would something like that get through on what is supposed to be a legitimate health advice website?

AyeBelieve · 24/11/2011 22:13

Now that's what man-hating looks like.

WoTmania · 24/11/2011 22:05

WTAF - I haven't clicked on the link but just read the C&P bit Shock

ElderberrySyrup · 24/11/2011 21:32

Pfft. Where are the antimisandrists when you need them?

EleanorRathbone · 24/11/2011 21:31
JeremyVile · 24/11/2011 21:28

Women are dainty little things who blush and lick their lips before swooning prettily from the emotional and physical exhaustion of the whole sordid business.

Men are little more than grunting dogs, jabbing their all powerful Givers-Of-Life at any passing female.

EleanorRathbone · 24/11/2011 21:27

The contradiction in needing to impregnate and then putting your dick into any hole available, is so glaring that I can understand why someone not very bright would mistake it for satire.

EleanorRathbone · 24/11/2011 21:26

I think you should complain as a man MoreBeta. They'll take it more seriously coming from you. Whenever women say, actually, men have brains and hearts as well as pricks, we're told that we're unrealistic, naieve or romantic as everyone knows men are savages really

Actually scrap it, when men agree with women that they're not all savages, they're written off as gay or trying to get a shag by agreeing with women.

LeBOF · 24/11/2011 21:25

I'm thinking about sex right now, MoreBeta

How does that divvy of a doctor know any of that stuff to be true?
