Hello,

I just reported a thread started by 'Dittony' which had a title attacking another poster and provided a link to a blog post.

It looked like a few others had reported it too as they had posted on it.

However in A/C there is another thread with the same title, which when you click on it takes you to a page saying 'error: thread deleted at OP's request'.

The OP however would appear to be someone who posted on the first thread, but not the same person who started it.

So can anyone please clarify what happened here...assuming the second thread was not posted by the same person as the first, (which has now gone) under a namechange?

(really hope not!)

I love that book ... I had it as a child and bought it again off Amazon recently. Smile

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 16/09/2011 16:05

Yes, of course. I respect a chicken's right to choose. Some chickens want to dance around the rotisserie pole. Who am I to stop them?

SybilBeddows · 16/09/2011 15:58

oh you are one of those 'choice' chickenists are you?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 16/09/2011 15:55

Is the chicken on fire willingly? I mean, is it a stunt chicken? Because I support a chicken's choice to persue whatever career it so desires. Obviously.

oh Stewie I think us chickenkeepers might find the thought of a flaming chicken a little upsetting! Shock

Ten. It might just be possible

SybilBeddows · 15/09/2011 19:37

Chickens, it would take a single ASBO chicken a long time to make a Youtube video, but a whole flock of bantams could do it, if the asbo one has influence over the others.
How many chickens have you got?

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 15/09/2011 19:14

Is it odd I have a phobia of chickens? (Not the user, obviously)

There's just something about them...

AuntieMonica · 15/09/2011 19:10

feeling the chickens platonic luurve (not sex, just luuurve)

Grin

.. When of course we all know that caring for chickens is a valid lifestyle choice and should be celebrated as such.

I am afraid bob you have missed the point entirely....your gender is completely pertinent to debates about feminism. You might not like it, but there it is.

You either accept that your posting is going to be viewed as a post by a man, and all that entails, or you go off somewhere else.

MarginallyNarkyPuffin · 15/09/2011 18:47

We know there are permanent trolls on this board. If MN barred them, they would pop up in new clothes. The vile (and frankly loopy) troll last night could be one of these regular trolls venting steam at having to play nicely to maintain the 'faux concern.' We won't ever know if that's the case.

If someone asks questions be nice and give them the links to educate themselves. If you feel they are trolling report them and disengage.

There are some regular MNers whose behaviour has really shocked me. This is a section to discuss feminist thought and look at how we view the world. Some posters treat it as AIBU and leap in to say the OP is wrong and it's stupid to even be discussing the issue. Then they accuse people of being aggressive and intolerant when they try to explain that's how this section is used. I think it's become apparent that the 'This is not a fight club' warning needs to be on this board too.

It's the feminist section. It will involve looking at things from a different angle by definition. You don't have to agree with that view fully or at all, but telling people they're mad or anti-men or have a victim mentality for even thinking about things outside of the accepted viewpoint is pathetic. When people stop attacking the post and start attacking the poster it makes me ashamed that I've ever interacted with them. Regular MNers are real (mainly) women who are sitting in front of a laptop in a real home. They are not just a name on a site. When you start to attack them rather than their views and point score it just marks you out as a rather petty person. Particularly when you are the one going out of your way to continue the argument, posting in a section that doesn't really interest you.

We all know posters that we are never going to agree with - politically SmallWhiteCat and I are on different ends of the spectrum - but that doesn't mean you need to insult them. Equally there will be people you don't like. People who grate on you. It's usually fairly easy to avoid them. With certain posters you'll know as soon as you see their name what their response will be like. You'll see a thread and think, 'X will come and kick their arse for that.' There is room enough for us all on here. You don't have to agree with someone or even like them. You should at least be able to agree to disagree.

This is actually one of the most tolerant sections on MN. If you went onto the other specialist sections and posted that anyone who spent their time fussing about chickens needs to get out more or that camping enthusiasts give women a bad name how warm would the welcome be? The posters here have consistantly tried to engage and educate, even when it's become obvious that the person concerned is just trying to cause trouble.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 15/09/2011 18:44

AuntieMonica and I are in a relationship of a platonic nature, I assure you. But she might have seen my arse.

ChristinedePizan · 15/09/2011 18:41

I am not sure I can cope with your sexy behaviour with AuntieM, chickens. Everyone knows women hate sex so there is no way anyone should be looking at your foofoo

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 15/09/2011 18:40

"I can do a good line in being an argumentative twat (not that you've noticed, I'm sure) so maybe you should leave them to me and edd1337."

Ohhh, that's helpful, Bob. Seeing as us poor lickle wimminz can't defend ourselves.

SGM Can we have ticckers added, please? I'd like one which has a countdown to my next rant... Grin The next one feels oddly close, but I'm blaming this migraine.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 15/09/2011 18:39

Or, could Jamez be ASBO's cover? Although it would take her fucking ages to make one of them there videos on the you tube. And typing would give her one hell of a headache.

SybilBeddows · 15/09/2011 18:37

Chickens - could your ASBO bantam be Jamez's deep cover?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 15/09/2011 18:36

Christine, why does my lack of penis make you cross? It is merely fact

SybilBeddows · 15/09/2011 18:36

I like the 'Dittany is Jamez's deep cover' theory very much.
For a start, have any of us actually met Dittany? Secondly, that would be why she never tells people details about her RL: that way she can't post inconsistent things about how many dcs she has and thus get caught out. Clever.
