OK, this should probably go in Activism, but this section gets more traffic. A friend linked an article which focused on the "You Know She's Playing Hard To Get When You're Chasing Her Down An Alleyway" page on facebook, the fact it still stands, and the fact the media have ignored plenty of complaints about the page. The article can be found here. About halfway down the article, it details this petition that asks Facebook to remove material promoting rape culture and addresses the fact that Facebook has no option for users to report sexual violence.

Anyways, just thought I'd draw your attention to it. Now off to send the link to a few friends... Wink Every signature and letter to your local MP helps. I'll be composing my letter to my local MP tomorrow.

This is the second thread this week where the OP wanted something banned that they found offensive. It makes me fearful when people start attacking freedom of speech.

By all means oppose it, it is disgusting, but we have to accept that if having the right to say what you think is important then we have to put up with arseholes saying shitty things.

Exercise your right to tell them to fuck the fuck off.

I never said I wanted you to back down. I've met people IRL who joke about it (hypocrite here i've even done it myself >_

Wait, what, I've just figured what you're trying to say...

That isn't freedom of speech. It's bloody oppression. Every single rape victim I know (and 99% of women I know) felt uncomfortable upon seeing that page. The 1 person I knew who joined it got deleted from my friend's list immediately. We need to send out a message to Facebook that we are not going to stand for being oppressed by rape culture anymore.

Unless you want us to back down and STFU, edd... Hmm

We can always hope. I'd rather keep trying than give up.

I doubt that will do anything. Facebook seems to be one of the suggest freedom of speech sites ever. Get rid if that page and 2 more Will rise
