and will she be back?

I'm a lurker on these boards but I enjoyed reading Dittany's posts and wondered where she's gone.

I don;t think there are that many at MNHQ and can you imagine how many messages they get! It must be a nightmare.

i sometimes wonder if people could work out my RL identity from my posts but I don't thin so unless they know me anyway. There was a thread where someone offered to look to show how easy it was to find loads but she had about a trillion people ask her to do it so I didn't! I think she did one in the end and the person was quite shocked - but I think they had a profile with what area they lived in and name of children and stuff.

sakura · 18/08/2011 09:48

yes, it could have just been an administrative thing. [
that experience taught me a lot about trolls!

SardineQueen · 18/08/2011 09:33

I once contacted mnhq about something and they didn't reply - I think they get inundated sometimes and things get overlooked. I doubt they meant it pointedly!

You could always send them an email naming the troll and the namechange, saying you know that lots of people have reported them, and reiterating what they did to you. I'm sure they would reply.

sakura · 18/08/2011 09:31

A number of MNers had been reporting that particular troll up until that point, me included, and I knew this because someone sent me a PM saying they'd noticed I was being hounded and picked at, and advised me to report it. But The Post, the triggering one, didn'T get a reply, so I was left basically wondering whether they thought it I was the crazy one.

SardineQueen · 18/08/2011 09:22

God how awful, I'm really surprised you didn't get a reply, that's terrible.

sakura · 18/08/2011 08:51

no not banned sardine queen. MN didn't even reply to me about it when I reported it, clearly very upset and triggered. The trolling was very cleverly done, so I don't fully blame MN completely. It must be hard for them to really get a feel of the history of two posters.
I've heard from SGM that that particular troll is still around under a different name.

AyeRobot · 17/08/2011 19:57

MNHQ might start taking it more seriously now

AnyFucker · 17/08/2011 19:57

Yes, they are certainly rather veiled at times...

Not sure, Frothy, but she doesn't seem to be around as much

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 17/08/2011 18:33

I may have missed her, but is HerBeX taking a break from here?

SardineQueen · 17/08/2011 17:58

Was the poster who did that banned or anything sakura?

AnyFucker · 17/08/2011 17:22

sakura, that is fucking horrible Angry

sakura · 17/08/2011 15:31

yes, I'm loving the non-censorship Smile , and hating the maliciously using info against someone in a triggering way as a personal attack Sad

omarlittlest · 17/08/2011 15:24

thats kind of the point no? the greatest thing about MN is thats its relatively uncensored ... and its a really good question as how to protect and not censor. its why this is the most vibrant and real (emotional / practical / intellectual) that i have come across ever ...

and so i am with leningrad "
We must rise above, ignore the idiots and discuss and connect, that is what they aim to prevent, don't let them"

sakura · 17/08/2011 14:50

hi dittany!! Was just thinking about you the other day. I find myself turning up at mumsnet recently. I was badly bitten by a troll, and it seriously put me off mumsnet, especially when I reported it and nothing happened (Said troll dug up my MN history from 2-3 years ago and used random shit from my childhood against me, telling me it "wasn't my fault" but my worldview was skewed because of my experience, which is what led to me being a feminist.

but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Not sure why MN is more concerned about protecting these awful men than its regulars. That's what got me about that incident: that even MNHQ knows how dangerous men can be, and they'd rather piss off an innocuous female regular than face the wrath of a psychotic bloke.
