Evening all. Think we need to clear a couple of things up. So we're posting here what we posted on the "hate women being single" thread.

Severin is/was indeed one of our returning "friends". And we're happy to say so publicly (not least because he's announced it himself!)

But we have no reason to suspect Wamster of being either a returning "friend" or anybody's sockpuppet.

We're sorry for any confusion about this.

Swallowedafly: we can see why you might have thought what you did. You mailed us with your suspicions about Wamster and Severin and got the reply "Yup, your instincts were spot on". The MNHQer on duty was replying to several reports about Severin with "Yup, your instincts were spot on" and included your mail in that batch - obviously without noticing your extra query about Wamster.
We do apologise for that oversight.

However, we would like to remind everyone of our Talk Guidelines. Please don't accuse people of trolling/sock-puppetry on the boards - even if you're pretty darn sure you're right

Interesting speculation but ultimately unfruitful, as we'll probably never find out for certain (though SGM's theory is fascinating and I wouldn't be surprised at all if that were the case - it explains the terrier with bone impression). It's not as if there are only two misogynistic arses in the world, is it? Or even in Texas, or, as the case may be, not in Texas. (Clearly have been overdoing the Baileys this evening so I hope that makes sense.)

About this going down the street whilst unaccompanied by a male person thing... I finally realised why XH used to be so sure that if I went out either on my own or with female mates I would inevitably get shagged. It's because he believed that if a man is persistent enough sooner or later a woman will be obliged to accept. Of course if I was going out accompanied by any male mates I was in just as much danger of getting shagged by them rather than accosted by strangers, so I couldn't actually win. The solution was never to go anywhere. (Or, of course, to divorce him, which after far too many years I did.) He did once say to me, a propos his sister in law having an evening out, "married women don't go out with their friends", but then denied afterwards that he had said or ever would say such a thing.

I thought dan was also jennyvtheworld, who seems to have disappeared.
