FFS jointhedotties. join the dots. What in gods name are you arguing? Spit it out

stretch · 13/07/2011 21:10

Jointhedotties

You are desperate to blame the parents, nearly every post has expressed that view (and I can go back and count actually how many times you have said it if you like)

Please can you stop this now, as Cat says you are being offensive (and obv not reading posts properly)

I think that is the thing: we don't know what the family circumstances are from the report cited.
But if the girls were indeed "sexually experienced" at 12, abuse is a good possibility. And as both gina and I have pointed out to you, this could have happenned without the knowledge or complicity of their families.

Catitainahatita · 13/07/2011 21:02

Surprisingly enough I was sexually experienced after my abuse too, gina. Funny that.

Jointhedotttie: you don't realise you are being offensive do you? Well you are. A lot.

Ormirian · 13/07/2011 21:01

Good God! Shock

Disgusting.

Jointhedotties · 13/07/2011 21:00

So what are the parents role/knowledge in this? The abuse?

Catitainahatita · 13/07/2011 20:59

Jointhedotties: "Those that say it isn't relevant how they are dressed are missing the very point upon which the rapists ( very wrongly) were let off. Or is it okay for children to dress however they like?"

The point is that the law is very clear on this. If you are under 13 you are considered not able to give consent, whatever you are wearing, what ever your parents think or do. The considerations you mention are not relevant to the charge whatsoever. And while I may agree that the circumstances of the girls in question should be looked into; I think blaming the parents for something that happened to their child without their knowledge is unfair.

Looking for who else to blame other than the men who had sexual activity with 12 year olds is too much like the attitude expressed by the judge for my liking.

ginhag · 13/07/2011 20:57

I was sexually experienced after being abused. That sort of happens. Made m a fucking easy date rape victim. Oh hang on, was that my fault too?

Jointhedotties · 13/07/2011 20:57

No, those children had a right NOT to be sexually experienced at 12, a right NOT to be out late at night in a park offering sex to strange men.

A right to be children.

ginhag · 13/07/2011 20:56

Obviously I will virtually headbutt anyone that says yes to that...

Jointhedotties · 13/07/2011 20:56

And the fact that they were sexually experienced?

Also, my abuser had been fostered by my parents. And they trusted him to look after me.

So, as well as my fault, their fault?

ginhag · 13/07/2011 20:53

Right back atcha cat :)

stretch · 13/07/2011 20:47

Oh FGS!

They were at a party and they snuck out

So personally I think there is very little you could do about it!!

OP posts:
Jointhedotties · 13/07/2011 20:36

They weren't picked up form school - why do people think that?

They went out late at night.

Personally, i wont allow my 12 year old out alone, late at night dressed like a 16 year old.

Because if I do, I am negligent because bad stuff could happen.

Those that say it isn't relevant how they are dressed are missing the very point upon which the rapists ( very wrongly) were let off. Or is it okay for children to dress however they like?

Also can someone show me where it says the girls are black|?

Catitainahatita · 13/07/2011 20:35

ginhag I felt the same.

stretch · 13/07/2011 20:28

I'm sorry for everyone who has been subjected to similar. x

OP posts:
stretch · 13/07/2011 20:26

Yes, that's another point (kind of!)
These 'men' abused their position of privilege and power. They were footballers, could pretty much have their pick of girls Why did they go for 12 year olds??

OP posts:
ginhag · 13/07/2011 20:23

This is why I generally avoid these threads. I can't be rational and objective and am likely to start running round lamping people at random.

I really really really was infatuated with the person that abused me when I was 9/10, and wanted him to like me and think I was cool soooooo much. I would have (and did) anything for his attention.

So...my fault then, eh?

Catitainahatita · 13/07/2011 20:19

I'm with KriKri. And also with those girls. I was abused from the age of 9 (and thus quite extensively sexually experienced by the time I was 12) without my family's complicity or knowledge. I find a more than a bit insulting that they should be blamed for it, especially as I went to great lengths to ensure that they shouldn't know about it.
I hope someone is looking after them and their families. Sad The whole looking for sex thing seems to be typical of abuse victims. In my case I waited until my twenties and was damn lucky that I had friends who looked after me and talked me out of it.

stretch · 13/07/2011 20:18

KRIKRI great post.

I'm appalled.

Law favours men.
