Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

A solidarity thread

Diplomacy is not my thing, but I try.

After this weeks events I thought I would start a thread with the express aim of expressing solidarity with the world wide web's feminists and the MN ones in particular.

Also because I came upon these:

www.facebook DOT com/ pages/Mumsnet-Sucks /120667294688534

anti-mumsnet DOT blogspot DOT com/20110301_archive. html

Sorry but I am not putting them in as links on purpose, because I don't want them to link back here (and if you cut and paste them into your browser and put in the dots you will see why.) Both are anti-MN sites, both of whose number one enemy appears to be the feminist/women's right section.

Let's not pander to them, I say. They are the only ones who want to shut this board down and shut us up.

Feminists of MN! I will support you always.

thanks purple, I didn't see that

hope she is ok, and will be back

AnyFucker · 07/07/2011 18:14

I have never seen anyone take the amount of shit on MN that Dittany does.

Then some twats extend it to other sites

What the FarSideOfFuck is that all about ? Confused

Stupid, ignorant morons.

PurpleStrawberryGuava · 07/07/2011 18:12

I read on the chat thread, that Dittany has sent a text to one member, saying she's taking a short break but plans to be back.

DontCallMePeanut · 07/07/2011 18:12

I hope that's all it is. I really do. :(

PurpleStrawberryGuava · 07/07/2011 18:12

Oh yes, of course, silly me.

In my case, it isn't my DH who would like for me to know my place, rather it's my MIL.

AF, I was wondering if she's ok. I know Dittany and I clash on our views of somethings, but I bloody well admire the woman. She's one of the most strong willed people I've ever spoken (typed) to...

Dittany, if you're reading this, just let someone know you're ok?

AnyFucker · 07/07/2011 18:06

I want to know where dittany is

I have a nasty feeling the last couple of days may have been the proverbial last straw for her Sad

HerBeX · 07/07/2011 18:05

Ah, but the way to make things better for themselves, is to put a stop to feminism and other nonsense.

If we could just go back to the good old days when women knew their place, all would be well....

PurpleStrawberryGuava · 07/07/2011 17:51

HerBeX - I cannot help but feel, that if these people (or indeed any MRAs) believe men are being done a disservice in any way, they should spend less time hating on the MN's feminists and more time taking positive and productive action to improve things for themselves.

Perhaps that's a bit too difficult for them to grasp though.

DontCallMePeanut · 07/07/2011 17:50

can't... breathe... Grin

And yes... Nooo! They're a spot, right on your arse, which you just can't seem to scratch...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 07/07/2011 17:44

Yikes. Those people are arses.

I love you all

DontCallMePeanut · 07/07/2011 17:08

Where is dittany, anyway? Not seen her since yesterday morning/afternoon.

DS and I are sat here with matching flags Grin

They are so full of hate aren't they PurpleStrawberry? And that's why they come over here to try and disrupt and disband, because they're afraid to see themselves mirrored - they assume that we feel the level of hate for them that they feel for women. They see women wanting to be treated as full human beings, as manhaters, because our place in their minds is so obviously underneath their feet, that any assertion that that isn't our natural place, must in of itself be an act of hate. They are projecting.

Catitainahatita · 07/07/2011 16:18

SaF: The flag thing is a product of my time in Mexico. They are very into flags and "patriotic symbols" here. You even have to salute the flag in a funny -too much like a fascist salute of my liking- way. I used to have your reaction, now I'm immune to it all.

But these flags are handwoven with extra lentils. I don't think they would cut the mustard with any dictatorship really.

Wow. Just wow.

I don't have Facebook, but I looked at the blog, I couldn't help myself. Now I wish I hadn't.

I haven't been posting long, but having read some of the hate on the blog, I'm just stunned.

joins in singing

Catitainahatita · 07/07/2011 15:59

Oh good. I am just slighting traumatised by the fact that even my DS asks me not to sing please but just to dance ....

Oh dear. Perhaps the tonedeaf should stick to the flag waving.

Sisters are doing it for themselves... I'd forgotten about that one! I might make an exception and warble along.
