Just spotted it in the In The News section, which I've had hidden for ages since all the BNP threads, but that's by-the-by...

OMFG...

I'm not all that surprised. I've worked for companies that have organised customers' nights out in London and the person hosting the night out is given a few thousand quid float so that 'everyone has a good time'... usually at the lap-dancing or strip clubs. Scaling it up to including prostitutes is more normal overseas. I've been to a few Full Monty style ladies' nights in my time so I went along to one of these evenings once (not an orgy, just the lapdancing!) It was actually very funny. Unlike the giggly women at the evenings I've been to who tend to whoop and holler in between smearing some poor bloke with baby-oil, the men were all rather studying their pints or focusing on some point near their shoes. Didn't seem to be enjoying it at all from what I could see.

Anyway, didn't it all happen in 2007? Maybe things have moved on?

This kind of shit makes me depressed. (Not the é or the daiquiris)

SardineQueen · 20/05/2011 17:36

I can guarantee that the reaction amongst the general workers in some of these companies will have been laughter, much of it impressed laughter.

With the women all sitting there looking at their screens thinking FFS!!!! Or joining in with the lads, obv.

Blinis? Yum! There is nothing quite like champers (nothing quite like the hangover either but there you go!).

I knew the financial sector was misogynistic but I am still really shocked by this. Can't think of anything more useful to say really. It's just shit Sad.

MollysChamber · 20/05/2011 17:24

Back to the point -

Major cop-out with the distinct whiff of bullshit whitewash about it as far as I can tell.

MollysChamber · 20/05/2011 17:23

Can I be a pain and request langoustine instead of oysters?

vesuvia · 20/05/2011 17:22

Munich Re are saying that the people responsible left the company before before the facts were uncovered.

So those anonymous men who were in charge of this episode slip away unpunished, free to arrange another prostitution session at another company.

SybilBeddows · 20/05/2011 17:21

omg Barleycup, I'd forgotten all about that. Can you still get it?

Bloody hell! Who finshed all the bloody hummus? Next time can we get hand knitted tortilla chips instead of crudites?

Can't find any kind of statement from Munich Re. Surprising. From a purel business point of view I would have thought they needed to act swiftly and firmly to try and save their (seemingly ruined) reputation.

Some of the attendees of the gathering were on the Board.

I wonder if this and their apparent lack of action are related.
