How lovely are your armpits?

Anyone else pissed off by advertisers' constant need to cause paranoia and fear to sell their products?

Because apparently, 100% of women don't like their armpits. (Who do they ask?) And if you have lovely armpits, it makes you feel confident and every success in life will be yours. FFS. Hmm

jelly you may have what are beautifully known as "dog ears" -I have that. When my arm is up they don't go right in, when the arm is down there's a sort of fat bit that hangs out?

I used to hate them when I was younger, especially in sleeveless tops, I thought they looked awful. These days I don't really care TBH. Part of the beauty of getting older IMO is realising that a lot of this stuff doesn't matter?

I think you can get plastic surgery, but it's not recommended. As I think it's actually breast tissue sort of spilling over into the pit area? And not fat as such. I know that mine were then even when I was super slim. It's just how your body is.... Sorry they make you feel crappy.

Apols if it is something completely different that you have!

jellyvodkas · 05/05/2011 08:41

Aliceliddell...can we do a swop . I hate hate hate mine. I shave and always have.
I am slim and sporty, but if there is one part of me that is grossly fat and ugly, its my arm pits....and now I am way over 40 they are getting fatter. I would give anything to have them chopped off, or have liposuction on them.
Can anyone advise or help please. I cant afford private treatment.... Sad

Pitkins. I may market a whole range, for women unhappy with their pits. Are your pits too bald - try pitkins. They will come in all sorts of shapes and colours. Beautiful armpits will be easily achievable.

BaronessBomburst · 04/05/2011 22:08

Do they make merkins for armpits? And what would they be called?

aliceliddell · 04/05/2011 17:34

Mine are gorgeous and hairy. But not big enough. I'm thinking of silicone implants. What do you think?

FannyNil · 04/05/2011 04:31

If Proctor and Gamble don't invent useless rubbish vital products like this to make us fulfil our every dream and need our potential as paranoid women who are so desperate to look right that we will do or buy anything, then how on earth is it going to grow it's business ($11 billion profit last year if I read the figures correctly)? Perhaps P & G could invent a product which will make me into a person who can interpret company figures. Oh no, I guess they wouldn't like that. Oh well, it's stopped me worrying about the state of my Islets of Langerhans...

herecomesthsun · 04/05/2011 01:53

My baby DS thought my armpits were lovely. His fave place to snuggle down and sleep. He is nearly 3 and still likes a good armpit snooze...

garlicbutter · 04/05/2011 01:42

Grin Thanks, spidookly, just went back and read Sybil's utterly inspired marketing plan Grin

spidookly · 04/05/2011 01:35

Sybil - you are a genius! :o

garlicbutter · 04/05/2011 01:26

I must have seen that commercial 20 times now, and I still have to yell "MAKEUP FOR ARMPITS, FOR FUCK'S SAKE?!???!!!" at the screen.

I should think my neighbours are now fully apprised of my attitude to "beautiful underarms" Blush

ComeAlongPond · 03/05/2011 18:50

I don't ever think about my armpits. Don't care much about my nose either, it's just a normal nose. Though I suppose if you think about, noses are quite funny-looking things.

I have very long toes and very long fingers though. So I won't have to be stretched, but instead I will be held up as the epitome of beauty and all you normal-fingered lot will have to worship me. Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

madwomanintheattic · 03/05/2011 18:37

i've got a skin tag in the left one. or maybe the right.

i suspect that might not be the right answer, though.

came across some of the old pics of julia roberts with hairy underarms on show on msn the other day. armpits make headlines, apparently. who knew?

BaronessBomburst · 03/05/2011 18:32

Just quizzed DH on this. His first response was a confused 'sorry?' followed by 'what have your armpits got to do with me?' Grin

BaronessBomburst · 03/05/2011 18:30

Armpits? I have never even considered my armpits! I'm sure they're fine. How bizarre.

queenbathsheba · 03/05/2011 18:26

I haven't a clue what my arm pits look like, I don't spend anytime inspecting them. I don't shave either I have other things I'd rather do.

62% suffer skin problems, I agree it's shaving and chemicals. I know when I was younger I tried shaving and applying deoderant straight after, I nearly shot through the ceiling, it burnt.

The cosmetic companies have really hit a low if they have to stoop to making women feel unhappy about their armpits.

Mine are great thanks Smile

They are befurred with a generous sprouting of dark blonde lushness and I can't be arsed to do anything about it. Someone on another thread said they like having hairy armpits as it makes them feel all sexy and continental so I have decided to take that approach, as path of least resistance. Trying to shave the buggers now they've got this long will deffo be a razor clogging PITA Grin

I liked this bit from link1

"Some 62% of the women surveyed said they suffer underarm skin problems like breakouts, discoloration or itchiness"

STOP FUCKING SHAVING THEM THEN PLASTERING THEM WITH STRONG CHEMICALS THEN! THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T LIKE IT!!!!

And rest Grin

SybilBeddows · 03/05/2011 16:29

I love this bit, from Insomnia's first link:

'One in three, meanwhile, said they feel more confident when their pits are in good condition, leading Mr. Dwyer to say, "How do we give them that confidence?"'

these guys are such philanthropists! They give us so much confidence!

Ormirian · 03/05/2011 15:42
Shock

Don't call them armpits! They are underarms.

According to my deoderant Hmm

And also according to my deoderant they will now be beautiful Hmm Hmm

I asked DH if he thought they were more beautiful. He told me he hadn't noticed.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 03/05/2011 15:42

Is this the advert with the 'We gave women bells to wear'? They lost me there the patronising shits. I'm not a fucking cat.

ShoutyHamster · 03/05/2011 15:41

Mine are incredible

colditz · 03/05/2011 15:39

What?

I cannot recall over giving more that 7 second's thought to my armpits, which it the ocmbined time it takes me each day to wash, shave and deodorise them.

Apart from that, they are just there.

The ONLY bugbear I have about my body is that I am too fat. I am 3 stone overweight and if I don't get it off I'm going to inherit type 2 diabetes. My face, limbs, skin, hair etc is just fine.

SueSylvesterforPM · 03/05/2011 15:36

My mum still thinks her nose is the worst part of her body

I have nose paranoia too lol I got shot in the nose so im like 'oh what I used to be' which is probably exaggerated.

TimeWasting · 03/05/2011 15:35

I like my nose. I sometimes wish I had a nice big one though.

My armpits are lovely, especially now they are getting hairy as of this week.
