that way, when I post feminist rants on FB you can all click 'like' and it will look to my non-feminist friends like feminism is clearly a force to be reckoned with.

Plus, I love MN feminists and want to be mates with more of you.

I have a list. In moments when there is nothing happening on Mumsnet I test myself on them using techniques developed 27 years ago for learning French vocab.

JaneS · 13/01/2011 12:57

I have no clue who's who ... sorry everyone! It's really annoying that facebook allows you to send messages along with friend requests, but once you click confirm they disappear ... so I'm sorry, I'm not sure who you all are but I'm sure I'll work it out.

Except Riven. Riven is intelligently named.

FlamingoBingo · 13/01/2011 11:34

So, intelligent MN/FB feministas...how do you remember who is who wrt to RL/MN names on your FB pages when you add people in quick succession and don't have time to get to know them!?

ComeAlongPond · 12/01/2011 22:48

Ooooh me me me!

I am also young. PM me if you want to add me.

itsnotfatitsinsulation · 12/01/2011 22:29

littlereddragon- I know it's a contentious issue amongst feminists but I'll admit I feel a little sad when I see women change their names on fb.

It also makes it a PITA to find someone you know by their maiden name.

itsnotfatitsinsulation · 12/01/2011 22:21

I'm not posting under my usual name but I'm a frequent poster on this topic and have started quite a few threads.

I dont want to use my usual name, though because I put way too much personal and sensitive info on here that I wouldn't want some people IRL to know.

I put quite a few feminist links up on facebook and like liking/reading/sharing other people's.

I'll PM people on here.

FlamingoBingo · 10/01/2011 20:12

I could really do with some feminist FB friends. I find I learn so much about things I'm interested in by links my friends on FB post - to TED talks, or articles etc. Would love to be getting more feminist stuff.

PM me if you want to add me.

anastaisia · 09/01/2011 16:11

I would too!

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 09/01/2011 14:32

morning all.
LRD - thanks!
I'm so glad people are linking up & think this is a good idea. Wasn't expecting such a great response - was thinking maybe three or four people would do it.
I found when I started being explicitly feminist on FB it was a surprise who agreed with me about stuff - random mates from school who I had no idea were feminist, men.... Though it was also a bit sad who didn't: one or two old friends who used to be feminist and now feel they have moved on Sad
Hopefully strength in numbers will help to reinfluence the latter Smile

I'm on Seth's, SGM and TBE's - initials are JM and there's a photo.

Anyway too late for me to do anything but go to sleep...

G'night all. Smile

seth, I just wanted to say thanks for doing this thread. I know some of my friends are active feminists (and I know some of my relatives are actively not!), but I don't think I've ever put a status update that nailed my colours to the mast. I did one because of this thread and loads of RL people have got in touch to ask about it/say how nice it is to see. Some of them I would never have realized would be supportive of feminism at all!

So thanks very much, and it is very nice to feel my facebook is a more feminist-friendly place. Smile

Hi scallops!

I added some people from Seth's page ... feel free to ignore if you don't feel you know me, I think I lurk more than I post in the Feminism topic.

HerB - I'd be a bit depressed if we took over the world by facebook! Grin

HerBeatitude · 08/01/2011 20:23

oh yes please, we need a bit of feminism on FB

scallopsrgreat · 08/01/2011 20:11

OK I've added a few of you as friends. LRD I think it was you who I didn't tell you who I was (initials CH)! I'm not great at the FB malarky (which considering I work in IT is a bit remiss!) so bear with me.

JaneS · 08/01/2011 19:26

seth - sorry, just saw your question on p. 2. I study there, I don't actually live there (sadly). Otherwise I would have loved to join your feminism group!
