Mick Hucknall apologises to 1000 women he slept with

The way I am reading this is he is that firstly he is sorry for being unfaithful to whoever he was with at the time - ok I get that.

But I am finding this a little creepy on other levels because I think if you apologise to your groupies, it implies you think you were taking advantage of them at the time? Or is it that he misled them all into thinking they were his only partner (at a rate of 3 a day, that'd be hard to do).

(please MN lawyers note I am not saying that Mick Hucknall has done anything wrong...)

DP reckons I am overthinking this which is quite possible Grin

The only reason he needs to apologise is if he feels he took advantage in some way, which is all a bit yuck. The fact he's put this thought in our heads now makes me think they didn't really think this publicity stunt through.

I am not remotely classy. And I probably would have shagged him if the opportunity had arisen, just to say I had. I was free with my favours back then.

the reason I started the thread here rather than sleb twaddle was that I was curious as to why a man would need to apologise for having consensual sex with a woman - I think AliceWorld has possibly explained what was really going on and it is just his massive ego at play here

TBH I've never really understood why he is so vilified.

Is it because he is ginger and considered to not be very good looking?

There are loads of pop stars out there who bedded lots of women and have big egos - why does he come in for so much bile?

I can take or or leave him personally, along with the majority of 80s musicians.

I agree with beachcomber, also refs to his red hair not good. Some of us have beautiful DC with the same. I just dislike him for his arrogance and moist lips.

However this is proably becuase my Dad looks like him to the extent that he went to a Simply Red gig and got mobbed... securit had to usher him out the building. Grin

I know this sounds terribly prim, but we are in the feminist section so I'm going to say it.

I think slagging off a man on sexual prowess, penis size, ugliness is really patriarchal.

That we criticise him for his womanising/ego/bizarre 'apology' is one thing, but the rest, well, it just 'ain't very sisterly IYSWIM.

I don't get what he's apologising for either. Does he imagine all the women he slept with were madly in love with him, wanted marry him and have his babies, so he's let the down Hmm. So noone slept with him cos he was famous and it would make a good claim to fame then Hmm. So his apology seems to be on the basis of some very gendered assumptions to me.
