Because the discussion on this at Ladyfest was fascinating but didn't go on long enough, I fancy continuing it here.
Soo, iirst off, why aren't there proper erotic magazines (with pictures of naked men in them) for heterosexual women?

do you want to know more about my dry spell ?

it don't make nice reading Grin

ISNT · 18/11/2010 21:34

Of course that makes sense, I'm not sure that's what AF is talking about though...

Mumcentreplus · 18/11/2010 21:30

Yep!!!..I mean DH/DP likes those wobbly bits doesn't he?...thinks your the sexiest thing on the planet why disappoint?..I have spoken to many men about what they desire and like in a woman and one of those things is confidence and they love our power we just don't understand it sometimes...

ISNT · 18/11/2010 21:21

So saying balls to repression? Throwing your knickers in the air and fucking with gay abandon, irrespective of wobbly bits. Maybe?

Mumcentreplus · 18/11/2010 21:20

Its about allowing yourself to embrace and enjoy being pleasured..

Mumcentreplus · 18/11/2010 21:18

I think it's both external and internal..its about how you feel about yourself and your sexuality but also how you feel about your partner..about him or what he does turn you on or outGrin...

ISNT · 18/11/2010 21:04

Hmmmmmmm

No idea Grin

AnyFucker · 18/11/2010 21:00

no, not permission

during my dry spell, I tried to give myself permission...it didn't work because I was not interested, at all

I dunno

ISNT · 18/11/2010 21:00

That many women don't give themselves permission to feel / be sexual unless they have gone through some kind of grooming ritual/rigmarole? Something like that?

ISNT · 18/11/2010 20:59

Is it to so with women giving themselves permission to feel sexy/sexual/be sexual?

AnyFucker · 18/11/2010 20:57

I can't explain it, ISNT

it's a gut-level thing

like I say, I really hadn't thought of sexual arousal in this way, until a couple of weeks ago

we need the original user of this idea, don't we ?

because it jolted me when she made it

I went through a few dry years, sex-wise

but I felt shit about myself, and forgot I was a sexual being, and a bloody hot one, thank you

these days, I get it

ISNT · 18/11/2010 20:49

See I don't get this "turning yourself on" business. I don't understand what you all mean.

I can see that if you feel self-confident and happy you are more likely to enjoy your sex life, as having body hang-ups is not conducive to cheerful and abandoned sex.

As for what arouses, the idea that it is "yourself" seems a bit odd. Women who read erotic books and buy rabbits and watch that bloke in a wet t-shirt coming out of the pond aren't getting turned on by themselves, they're getting turned on by external stimuli and by their imaginations.

The last few comments are obviously true, but i would say not for everyone, as i for one haven't a clue what you're on about!

AnyFucker · 18/11/2010 20:32

it makes sense..if you can't fancy yourself...why would anyone else ?

ISNT · 18/11/2010 20:31

heh heh heh

Though that would attract your attention.

AnyFucker · 18/11/2010 20:31

Bear this one ?

I nicked it from John Lewis

IfGraceAsks · 18/11/2010 20:29

ISNT · 18/11/2010 20:28

Sorry couldn't help it Grin

ISNT · 18/11/2010 20:28

AnyFucker · 18/11/2010 20:27

AnyFucker · 18/11/2010 20:25

IfGraceAsks · 18/11/2010 20:17

narcissism

[ that's a note, I'm watching Jack's funeral]

TheFeministParent · 18/11/2010 20:14

The only libido I've ever heard a man suffer from is guilt when they're fucking someone else.....I may be projecting though!

IfGraceAsks · 18/11/2010 20:12

I've skipped over the last ten posts or so (sorry) so as to reply to AF's post about women being turned on by themselves. I absolutely feel this is true; I know that it's an essential premise in fragrance advertising, for example. BUT ... what exercises me is that this is, in itself, an expression of how well conditioned we are to be the "object" of desire - how much purer could conditioning be? I feel sexually aroused when I perceive myself as a desirable object.

This is what really lies behind my mission to be lardy, hairy and still love myself Blush I have to say I'm some way forward but it's taken fucking years. My self-esteem might never recover if I don't give in and epilate! Blush Sad

On a tangentially connected not, I was one of those trendy '80s women who liked to snog girlfriends in public. It was quite funny - enjoyable, though not sexually ... and a startling lesson in how much more effectively two women can objectify themselves together than alone Confused

TheFeministParent · 18/11/2010 20:12

Men in porn do zero for me, never found an inactive man attractive either (ie photos)....a man has to erm whisper in my ear, talk filth (and I don't mean oooo Feminst I lurve a nice dirty carpet to vacuum)...anything really!!!

AnyFucker · 18/11/2010 18:56

I know, we are getting OT
