Okay so after bleating on about this I actually watched porn.....

I had the sound off as the noises made it seem a lot worse, but the woman looked bored, tired and distant. I almost could bear to watch the men, all aggressive expressions and helping one of the women have one position sex for a lot longer than I would. I found it really non sexy or sexual and completely backed up my opinion that it is pretty vile. Now I only watched about twenty minutes on and off, I had to keep flicking over....but in this time one woman was enduring intercourse and seemed to have to put all of the work in, bouncing up and down.

I cannot fathom how any watches it and enjoys it.

(this was following a conversation with a male friend who says I've never seen on and so blah blah, I agreed to watch one and really wish I hadn't, I am even more solid in my opinion.)

I bet you'll find that as you watched porn and found that it confirms your view and not theirs, they will claim you watched 'the wrong sort of porn'.

sparky159 · 16/09/2010 11:12

oh i see-Sorry Posieparker-i read youre post diffrently-my mistake-i appologise.

PosieParker · 16/09/2010 08:17

sparky....I have long been a very loud voice against porn with my male friends, most of whom think it's harmless. I was having another 'debate' when I said women don't enjoy it, blah blah, and my friend said 'you've never seen one' it got a little heated and I said 'fine I'll watch one'. I picked a channel on the telly and watched, sort of. I found it really uncomfortable and had to turn the sound down, the man was in disguise and the woman looked under duress and awkward. Even if this isn't a true representation of the industry what I saw was horrific.

Watching it from a non sexual point of view, it would have been difficult for anyone to be turned on by what I saw, the facial expression were more interesting than the sex. Both looked bored, he looked aggressive and she looked tired.

I don't think it did me any good except now I don't have to concede!!

Erm, I'm a bit confused as to why you are asking this, sparky159?

I think it was all fairly clear in the OP. Call it research, if you like.

Thank you, I'm glad I stumbled across MN, it's a very interesting place.

AnyFucker · 15/09/2010 21:58

welcome to MN Smile

granhands · 15/09/2010 21:58

Sort of, been lurking.

AnyFucker · 15/09/2010 21:55

haven't seen you post before, gran

are you new ?

granhands · 15/09/2010 21:45

Thanks AF

AnyFucker · 15/09/2010 21:31

you will find plenty of like-minded individuals here

granhands · 15/09/2010 21:23

My DS is 19, I worry, mind you he has plenty of strong female role models (I have three sisters and we are all the same, as is my mum).

It's awful now, and it terrifies me what it will be like when DD is a similar age to DS.

The pornification of every facet of everyday life sickens me, I grew up in the 80s and casual sexism was rife, but part of me thinks that things are far worse now. Now we have to look like we are enjoying or be labled as prudes/killjoys etc.

I am no prude, I just hate porn.

I think we are worth more than that, all of us.

AnyFucker · 15/09/2010 21:14

gawd yes, gran

my thoughts on this matter have certainly been made much more crystal clear by the arrival of my children (now teeangers and surrounded by a pornified culture wherever they go Sad)

granhands · 15/09/2010 21:09

True, true.

Just had a DD though and it has made me even more militant than I was before and I have always been quite vocal.

AnyFucker · 15/09/2010 21:05

gran...I agree

it dehumanises all people in fact, not just women

granhands · 15/09/2010 21:01

Maybe I am being dense, but why do people say that you have to watch porn before you can be against it? I find that an utterly ridiculous stance: no one would say that you have to go hunting before saying you find it repugnant.

I hate porn: I hate the way it has infiltrated mainstream society.

I hate that some people think there is nothing wrong with it but would be horrified if their daughters sisters or partners said that they thought it was a valid career choice.

To me that says it all, porn dehumanises women.

It changes a person from being seen as a human being with thoughts, feelings and a personality into being the sum of their holes.

AnyFucker · 15/09/2010 20:47

ok, WOD

sorry, I sounded snippy

but these threads attract allsorts ya know Smile

WriterofDreams · 15/09/2010 20:37

Ah I see AF that makes sense, but no I'm not a writer. I'd like to be a novelist, but I'm not, mainly due to lack of talent!

an article to write, perchance ?

your name gives a teensy little clue too

and you didn't just ask one person to elaborate

however, you have as much right to be on this thread as anyone, so carry on

WriterofDreams · 15/09/2010 19:42

I'm still not entirely sure I understand what you mean Butterfly but I'll carry on with the other thread and see if that makes it clearer.

WriterofDreams · 15/09/2010 19:40

I don't see why you're suspicious AF, what ulterior motive could I have? I was in the process of reading the other thread, which I missed when it was active, and then TBE made a comment that I didn't understand so I asked her to clarify.

WOD, I am a bit suspicious of your motives for the repeated requests for people to elaborate on this thread Hmm
