Good to hear SM

I just wish I had a nice long holiday to read these on, but I don't this year.

Sunshinemummy · 21/07/2009 09:19

Any Human Heart is brilliant.

MrsDanversAteMyIpod · 20/07/2009 19:52

I'll have to read the library ones first Janeite, but I am looking forward to that one

janeite · 20/07/2009 19:30

Ooh you will LOVE The Yellow Wallpaper.

MmeDanversAMangeMonIpod · 20/07/2009 18:18

Update to my pile in bold. Been to the library for the first time in ages...Me thinks I must do this more often and stop burning a hole in our finances with Amazon/Waterstones

Any Human Heart - William Boyd
The Secret History - Donna Tartt
Our Mutual Friend - Dickens
Arabella - Georgette Heyer
Oryx and Crake - Atwood
The Little House - Phillipa Gregory
Metamorphosis and Other stories - Kafka
The Yellow Wallpaper - C Perkins Gilman

Okies - thanks.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/07/2009 20:09

oh dear.... you have mail btw

janeite · 18/07/2009 20:05

Yup - last month I think. Was there today though and they didn't have much at all to offer me. It all seemed rather John Grisham.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/07/2009 20:03

H lib?

Flamesparrow · 18/07/2009 19:59

I'm heading there on Weds so will look then

janeite · 18/07/2009 19:57

I got it in the library - might be worth a shot?

Flamesparrow · 18/07/2009 19:44

YES! I have been looking in every book shop and for some reason can't find it anywhere.

i could always ask but that would just be sensible...

That's what I think of Mislit FlameSparrow, think I have her muddled in my mind with the likes of 'If I should die before I wake' or 'please daddy no'

Serves me right for judging a book by its cover..ignore me aristo

Flamesparrow · 18/07/2009 18:58

Lol yes so they aren't exactly chirpy, but not mislit either iyswim. I think of mislit as "My daddy abused me for some wine gums" type books

BeastQuest · 18/07/2009 18:56

I saw one about a high school massacre.
gave up after two chapters who wants impending doom and misery on holiday?!

Flamesparrow · 18/07/2009 18:54

lol yes that one!

janeite · 18/07/2009 18:53

Ahh was it the man born as an old man thing? God - what was it called? It was brill! Max something.

Flamesparrow · 18/07/2009 18:53

I wouldn't have put Picoult in the category of mislit
